Wow - this story has everything: Intrigue, romance, friendship, character growth, and a wonderful conclusion. I'm so glad I got a chance to read it and I hope you one day get a chance to post another story!

Dessi's advice is solid, and, yes, she is shameless - but maybe that's a good thing!!

The insight into Vivian in this chapter was wonderful. I never thought she was any one kind of woman, but to see her recognize her shortcomings, loathe as she is to admit to them, makes her that much more endearing as a character.

The notion of the Dominion wanting their slaves to appear well - as a reflection of one's house - is peak political commentary.

Kyrie's interest in Mae's potential male suitor is sweet and the parallel with her growing relationship with Isaac fits wonderfully. Also, kudos to Isaac for respecting Kyrie's comfort with both kissing and her art!

The intrigue! The suspense! The drama of it all! I love that Dessi brought up Mae's pregnancy not just to gossip but to tell Vivian and Kyrie to think of ways to help Mae.

I enjoy how each character in this story is more than just a stereotype or cliche - Renard, while flirtatious, doesn't act like an insufferable creep; Kyrie, while quiet and reserved to a degree, is competent and works well with others; Vivian, while (rightfully) insecure with regards to Renard, is more than willing to see Kyrie for who she really is and not just a rival; and Isaac, while less flirtatious than Renard, isn't above those lingering touches.

I've come back to re-read this story in its entirety and I am so glad I did. This first chapter is even more stunning than I remember!

I've been regularly coming back to this story for the characters, the world, and the intrigue in the plot. The interactions between everyone, from the lowest slave to the wealthiest nobles, have been solid and engaging. In the span of the first ten chapters, we see Kyrie, shy and isolated, open up a little more to the other slaves in the manor. We see her mature into her own, engaging with Isaac's teasing flirtations while he simultaneously begins to recognize his desire for her as well. We are also introduced to the class divide between the slaves and several nobles within the world and the differing ways in which different households treat their slaves. I've enjoyed the slice of life aspect of the story to a great degree and I look forward to seeing where the mystery and the plot go.

You have such a wonderful way of describing each character's physicality that really brings across their personalities.
