"homie" isn't quite right, haha. that's a term for friend. "homely" or "homey" mean a place that feels like a home.
Thanks to this, though, the streets and architecture were much more homie. There was a lot more nature sporadically spread through the streets and it wasn't rare to find a home or shop built right into an ancient tree.
