If there was something wrong the the plot and you decided it needed to be retcon that that would be ok. Don't retcon something just because some people dislike something because there are people that liked it but isn't something you would write a comment saying you liked it. Just write your own story if it good well done, if it is bad you learn.[img=recommend]

Oliver's father was going to try and stop Melcolm, that is when shipwreck happen. Moira tried the leave Melcolm's plan but Melcolm threatened her with Thea's death. After the event happen she confess to the crimes. She proved not guilty because Melcolm threatened/bribed the jury. This is all off the top of my head so I could be wrong or left out some points.
