It's a novel with a background setting Where wizards and witches needed to go hiding when there were no modern weapons. Tht itself doesn't make sense. The whole Harry Potter series shouldn't exist if we include logic in it.
It's ridiculous if you ask me, labelling magic as light or dark. Their whole system is flawed, a hammer is a tool but it can be used to kill a man, the same can be done with magic it's the intent behind its use.
