Chương 102: Update: The State of this Novel
Don't panic... Yet. I know you; you're stronger and better than this.
So, I just came here after "rewriting" this chapter for the third time. For what reason did you ask me? Several things.
At first, I stopped writing this due to familial issues. My grandma died last year; then my cousin was unfortunately caught in a crossfire between militia; God rest his Soul. And then I had two periods where one was rushed to 4 months, and the other had an 'excellent' chunky strike right in the middle that lasted... Two months?
In the midst of this, I reread Zero Fate about twice. Reading once to remember things, then stopping... Then, I did the same thing because I forgot things and stopped again.
And I'm tired of that. It's clear I need motivation; after all, I'm writing my other Novel just fine, and it's not because I have an incentive for that.
In fact, for those waiting for Danmachi, it'll come. I already have three chapters ready, but I need to update them. For some reason, I've lost my touch regarding this; I used to edit things super quickly...
Anyway.
Ignoring all of the other issues I didn't say, such as the fact I'm in my 7th period and facing complex subjects that would make most engineering graduates pale, such as Electronics 3 and Electromagnetism 2, I've thought about doing what I did for my other Novel and to some degree, Danmachi as well.
Which is to stop now and rewrite everything as I read it.
I know, brutal, violent, heavy... But also enlightening.
When I rewrote Azimuth, I did it around chapter 150. This allowed me to redo the entire plot while thinking of the future, which led to me writing a more concise story overall.
Is this the solution for this novel? I don't know. But I accept options.
My main ideas were as follows: To create a new book and go from there, but that would alienate much of the audience, and I quite like this page.
The other is to continue from chapter 100+ as if it was chapter 1... And that is ugly as hell.
Of course, there is the monstrous solution: edit things on a Google sheet and post them over the old chapter.
I know, that is also terrific. Imagine, losing comments from years ago, I can't even imagine such disaster...
But every possibility seems bad, I guess this is the hole I dug for myself, being as lazy as I am. Unfortunately, I can throw WD-40 on a ball bearing and flex tape a trembling robot, but I can't do the same here.
My engine needs to be kickstarted, but maybe we're... I'm far too down a trench to call someone to pull me up from there, even if it means driving down the street again from the repair shop.
It's not like I've lost touch with writing. A few weeks ago, I wrote an average of 50 pages on Google Docs daily. Unfortunately, nothing was about this novel, with only a few thousand words on Danmachi.
I merely thought I needed some motivation to write, so I went to my notebook of ideas and began writing small shots of them.
It worked. I've written so much recently that my hands and eyes hurt, but my energy is 100%. Yet I can't bring myself to re-read the last few chapters because I know I won't be able to deliver the same vision as before, even with my 100-page Google Doc of notes for his novel.
So here I am, pants down, but naked, asking for solutions for a problem none of you deserved to bear.
Anyhow, that's about it. You likely expected a chapter, and I'm very sorry. I don't deserve your commitment but'll try to regain your attention.
That is all from this lazy excuse of an engineer (I like calling myself one); I'm going to flunk Waves for the fourth time now, so yeah, peace!
PS: If you want, I can try releasing the last chapter as well, if you guys want it, I'll do it!
I have it pretty much... Three copies of it...
