Leaving the private room, they made their way to the Conservatory of Sorcery with Mera leading the way.
With Sora and Mera being experienced users of magic, they both had interesting views on the applications and systems of magic.
"…when you look at it that way, I suppose it could work. You would have to take into account the amount of control it would take to achieve that…" Mera spoke as she and Sora were deep in conversation.
Kaldur who trailed behind them, despite once being a student of the Mera, was unable to understand a lot of what they bounced around each other.
"Like you said, it's not impossible. It just requires a certain level of control." Sora retorted in amusement as the reached the conservatory.
"If you wish to see our magic first hand in battle, my students should be at the roof with my substitute." Mera offered as Sora responded with a nod.
Somewhere during their conversation, he had found out that she was supposed to be teaching a class when she was called for the meeting, prompting her to leave a substitute behind to take over until she returned.
Swimming upwards to the roof, they were greeted with the sight of two students, male and female, engaged in combat.
The skin icons on the male glowed as a shield of dense water formed in front of him, liquid projectiles smashing into it but he held his ground.
His icons glowed brighter as he reeled his arm back before thrusting it forward, a powerful stream of water shooting forward to the girl who dodged it.
They were about to continue but a voice stopped them halfway.
"Queen Mera." A female voice greeted with a bow as Sora's eyes traveled to the woman who stood to the side of the previously sparring students with others behind her.
"I see things are going smoothly here. Carry on. I'm merely here to escort our guest." Mera said as the trio swam behind the crowd of students, numerous eyes following them especially focused on Sora.
The two students continued sparring as Mera gave short comments to better Sora's view on the use of magic.
"I see…" Sora muttered as he observed the male and female make use of their skin icons, his sharingan activated discreetly.
"Huh?" Mera couldn't help but murmur at his barely veiled words as Sora closed his eye in co concentration.
Under the shocked eyes of Mera and Kaldur, purple lines emerged on Sora's body not unlike the skin icons he had just observed. In his mind's eye, a screen appeared before him.
[You have gained 'Atlantean Sorcery'!]
A small smirk came upon his lips as his eyes opened to see purple lines on his arms similar to Kaldur's icons.
"By the gods…" Mera whispered in shock at what she just saw. Kaldur was no better as he looked on, eyes wide open in shock.
"I think I understand it now." Sora commented as he held his palm up as a small tornado of water formed above his palm, dancing around before dispersing.
"How is that possible?" Mera asked, still in shock.
"I don't quite understand your question." Sora teased, knowing fully well what she meant.
"Many Atlanteans have had to study for months if not years to properly use magic yet you managed to figure it out after a mere demonstration. I haven't seen anyone capable of such a feat." She commented, recovering a bit as she managed her words.
Sora could help but smirk as he knew why. A fully matured sharingan paired up with a maxed out [Magic Theory] was easily able to dissect and understand it.
"I've been studying magic for quite a while now. I would be quite disappointed in myself if I couldn't decipher it. I mean no disrespect of course." He spoke easily as the queen shook her head.
"Not at all. If anything it's nothing short of outstanding that you're able to do so. It's rare to find someone so knowledgeable about the subject. We have much to talk abou-" She was interrupted as a large explosion was heard in multiple places.
*BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM*
The surroundings shook as a nearby explosion rocked the Conservatory's structure.
"We're under attack! I must escort you both to safety at once." Kaldur announced as the trio narrowed their eyes.
"I don't need protection. Go and find out the cause of the explosion!" She ordered to which Kaldur hesitantly nodded.
"I apologize that you have to be present at a time like this. I can get a guard to escort you to the palace." Mera apologized sincerely.
"Don't worry about that. I'm staying. I can't let my future business partners end up dead, can I?" Sora spoke as he looked into the distance, narrowing his eyes.
"Atlantis thanks you. Let us go." Mera thanked as Kaldur went on his way, leaving them to calm down the shaken students.
'Something doesn't feel right.' Sora thought as he spread his perception to its fullest. He always had [Energy Sense] active around a decent radius around him to avoid any nasty surprises.
He could easily sense far beyond Atlantis' borders.
He felt the life signatures of the many Atlanteans that scampered around in a panic. The number of them he sensed weren't small in the slightest, making it harder to find anything specific.
Harder but not impossible.
During the small time he had been on Atlantis, he had discovered that atlanteans had a slightly different feel to their signatures.
In his range of perception, he felt three signatures that weren't Atlantean in the slightest, two of them feeling a bit tainted while the other seemed strange.
His eyes narrowed further, gaining Mera's attention.
"Is anything the matter?" She asked him as a few guards finally showed up to deal with the rubble and the students.
"Any word about the attacks?" She asked the guard who looked a bit unsure.
"Yes my queen. There were multiple explosions in multiple sectors but we discovered something odd. Though we're under attack, we have no sightings on our attacker." The guard explained which worried Mera greatly.
"That doesn't make any sense. Maybe you missed somethi-"*BOOM!*
Another explosion made itself known far away followed by more explosions in that same area.
"Where is the king!?" Mera asked urgently.
"He's escorted Batman to the surface world not too long ago." The guard explained causing her to grimace.
"Take your men and investigate that area. The rest of you will escort the children to safety." Mera ordered quickly as they moved quickly to obey.
Within minutes, Mera and Sora were left alone on the sightly damaged building, Mera trying to figure out the meaning behind this attack. Sora had been silent all this time, sitting on the bare floor deep in thought.
"They're wasting their time." He spoke, finally breaking the silence.
"What do you mean?"
"They're not going to find anything in that area. The most they'll find are more bombs. There is no enemy there." He explained, furthering Mera's confusion.
"How do you know that?" She asked warily as Sora got to his feet, kusanagi appearing in his grip as he appeared in front of Mera, swinging his blade.
[Counter]!
His blade clashing with a small missile that was headed towards Mera causing it to explode as the shockwave of the explosion was reflected back to where it came from.
"Our assailants are right in front of us." Sora spoke calmly as three figures made themselves known, two of them wearing a light suit with a mask that allowed them to breathe underwater while the other needed no such thing, making him easily recognizable.
Green scaly skin and large reptilian build.
"Killer Croc…"
