Chương 23: Feel The Warmth Again

Two hours passed, Adrian stayed in the bathroom because he got carried away when he saw Avians wearing lingerie and he was drunk, so he came out of the bathroom after he felt calmer.

As he exited the bathroom, he saw Avians still awake, sitting on their bed even though it was more than one in the morning. Her clothes had changed into the nightgown she always wore to bed.

Her expression suggested that she felt very sorry about what happened two hours ago. She was worried that Adrian was still angry with her.

"It's already one in the morning, why are you still not asleep?" asked Adrian.

"I... I just... Wanted to say that I'm sorry, Ian. I don't know why you kept ignoring me since that day. I... felt so lonely when you didn't talk to me. I felt so lonely when you kept walking away from me as if I didn't exist..." Avians said with tears welling up in her blue eyes.

Her hand reached for the hem of her husband's shirt.

"Please... Don't ignore me. They all do it to me, and when you give me your attention, I feel so happy. But now you're doing it too... I..."

Tears fell one by one from her eyes. Her hand that was pulling Adrian's shirt began to tremble.

Seeing Avians pleading with him, Adrian felt that his punishment to his wife was enough. Avians was willing to be honest with her own feelings. He removed Avians' hands from his shirt and knelt before his wife while holding both her hands.

"Well done, you've been able to be honest with your feelings even though it took a long time," he said as he smiled warmly at Avians.

"Ian..."

The man got up and lifted Avians, laying her on the bed before he finally lay down next to her and pulled her into his arms. A hug that Avians hadn't gotten from the man in a long time.

"I'm glad you finally realized it. I'm sorry I did it just to get you to be more honest with how you feel,"

"Yes, it's okay. I'm sorry," said Avians burying her face into her husband's warm embrace.

"You did your best, Avi." Adrian kissed Avians head then rubbed it gently.

Avians felt so happy to feel Adrian's touch on her again. The tightness in her chest slowly disappeared feeling the warmth of the man she loved.

For her, she didn't really care about Adrian's status as a billionaire or a CEO of a famous company. That's what made her never use the money from the man to luxuriate in pleasure.

All she wanted was his affection and care for her. Getting all that already made her feel rich, rich in the affection she had always hoped for.

The next morning, they were already chatting together again as usual over breakfast. Talking about their respective activities.

Jonnah saw that Adrian and Avians were talking to each other again, which made her happy. They were back to their old ways.

"Then I have to go to the company," Adrian said to his wife and kissed her forehead.

"Alright, be careful on the way," Avians said, smiling as she watched Adrian from their porch.

"Oh right." Adrian turned to look at Avians. "There's a banquet next week that TechNC is working with. I'd like to go to it with you, would you like to?"

"A banquet? That sounds interesting. I'm coming there with you," the woman replied.

She had promised Adrian that she would accompany him to any formal event he had to go to. And this banquet must be very important and everyone would come with their escorts.

"Good, then I'm off."

Adrian got into the car and it drove away from the Avians' sight.

"Banquet? That means I have to dress up nicely for the party. I don't want to disappoint Adrian or embarrass him with my mistakes," he muttered.

However, Avians didn't know where to start. She was thinking of buying a dress to wear later.

"But what kind of dress should I wear?"

Confused, Avians contacted someone who could definitely help her. Of course, Elena, there was no one else she could call but her sister-in-law.

On top of that, she also told her what happened last night and this morning just as she asked.

Elena was a bit puzzled as to why Adrian had pulled himself away from Avians when he heard the story from her. But Avians changed the subject to her being confused about choosing a dress for the banquet.

"How about we go to the mall together the day after tomorrow? I also want to buy a new dress for the party," Elena asked.

Hearing that invitation, Avians couldn't refuse. It would actually help her a lot because she wouldn't have to go alone either.

"I want to, I want to go to the mall with you, Elena," Avians replied.

"Good I'll call you back, see you later!"

The call was hung up, Elena placed her phone on her desk and sighed.

"Stupid little brother."

The next day, Avians and Elena went to the mall they always went to. Elena took Avians to her favorite store where she usually bought dresses.

"Welcome, Miss Elena. What kind of dress are you looking for?" greeted the store clerk kindly.

"Oh me and my sister-in-law would like to see a dress for a party. I don't think it's too fancy but it's quite eye-catching and elegant," Elena replied while holding both Avians' shoulders from behind.

"Then please come here, I'll show you the dresses we currently have," said the lady clerk showing them the way to a place with many mannequins wearing beautiful and elegant gowns.

Avians' eyes lit up at how beautiful the dresses on display were. She thought, does she deserve to wear it?

Especially when she saw the price, it was fantastically expensive. Although she could still afford it, but for Avians who always saves money, seeing such an expensive price was enough to shock her.

"The latest dress here looks interesting, doesn't it Avians?"

"Y-yes, very interesting," Avians replied to Elena who was busy looking.

"Alright, then bring all the dresses for us to try on one by one!" said Elena.

"Eh?!"

Avians could do nothing and was shocked by Elena's words. She knew that the life of a wealthy person was very different from her ordinary life and this was her new world.

Although it sounded easy, Avians still had to get used to being amongst all the things that were new to him now.

"Well Avians, let's try everything here."
