Chương 37: Assassination Attempt
Jake entered the apartment and found that everything was normal, except Julia, she glanced at him before saying:
"Welcome back. " She welcomed Jake like she always did, but without saying 'dear' in the end, which Jake noticed and felt slightly sad.
Jake understood what she meant by that, as her tone was like what she used to talk to him in the past, she went back to being his mother rather than his wife.
"... Yeah, I'm back. I've some work to do today, so I might be late."
"Be safe."
"You too, hope you be safe as well." His eyes was empty and filed with sadness when he said that.
When Jake left, Julia felt her body weak, and started shivering as tears began to fall. She covered her mouth and her eyes were wide in shock as she saw Jake's expression.
She didn't think that he could make an expression like that, she didn't see those eyes before, eyes of someone who lost everything.
'What have I done?! '
Jane, Lucy and Rebecca looked at Julia with pity and went and hugged her to ease her pain. While Julia cried silently.

Some time later, Jake got out of his room wearing his formal suit and headed to the door of the apartment.
"Aren't you going to eat your breakfast? " Julia said with red and slightly buffy eyes.
"No, I'm late." He didn't look at her and just left.
Then he opened the door, and went out to his car.
He got into his car and drove it to the company, he wanted to indulge into work to forget about his feelings.
'So, she finally decided.'
Jake was sad and felt like there was a hole in his heart.
'Fuck!, if love will make me like that, then it's better close my heart than being hurt again.'
'No, Jake don't rush things, it was her choice and I shall respect it, no matter what. Still have a mission to finish, so I think I will look for a CEO to manage my company, while I will focus on the dangers around me.'
'But that will be after I catch that rat.' he said inwardly with a cold expression.

When he arrived, he got out of his car and went straight to his office.
His work wasn't that much, so he finished it in two hours, after that he felt bored, so he started thinking about the assassin who wanted to kill him.
Suddenly while in deep thoughts, the door of his office opened and a figure entered.
Jake, of course, noticed it and looked to see a woman with brown hair tied in a ponytail, she was wearing formal suit as well.
The woman was carrying a coffee in her hand while a file in the other hand.
"Hello Boss, I'm Sally from the purchase department."
"Then, why you came here? "
"I was asked to deliver this file to you because the secretary wasn't here."
"Thank you." He said while extending his hand to take the file. He took it and started reading it, while Sally started looking around with checking eyes.
Jake who was reading, noticed this, but didn't make it obvious.
After 2 minutes, he closed the file and turned to her "Okay, you can go now."
"Then, if you may allow, I brought you a coffee because I thought you liked it."
'Oh, I was in need for a coffee.'
"Thank you, I was thinking of having one."
Jake said with a smile, making Sally blush.
'He is so handsome~'
Jake took the coffee while Sally bowed slightly, then watched Jake as he started drinking the coffee.
"Ahhh~ so good~"
Sally turned and headed out of the office with a small smile on her face.
'Shame, he must die for my mission.'
...
Jake watched Sally heading out of office while still drinking the coffee.
'What a sly fox, she wanted to kill me using a mere cup of coffee. Did she think I'm that stupid? '
Well, yeah.
Jake looked at the cup in his hands and spit the coffee in his mouth in it.
What he used was a technique that could be used by controlling his muscles to prevent anything from getting into his stomach.
So the coffee he drank, didn't go down to his stomach.
Anyway, after he had spit the coffee in the cup, he felt a sudden burning sensation in his throat.
'Yeah, fuck I'm not doing it again.'
Then he looked at the bottle of water and felt the urge to drink from it, but he didn't because he had thought that it was poisoned as well, which was right actually as Sally poisoned that bottle of water as well.
The burning sensation was increasing making Jake want to scream like a bitch, but he held it, then immediately headed out of his office and went straight down outside the company.
Once outside, he went to the nearest supermarket and took a bottle of water from the fridge and drank from it immediately.
"Yeah, that's better~"
"But you need to pay for it." Said the vendor.
"Oh yeah, here." Jake paid and got out.
"What a weird fella."
...
Jake went to his car and got in, then drove back to his apartment.
While on the way, he received a message from an unknown number.
The message was saying:[Mission Completed]
Jake smiled and put the phone back on the seat beside him.
'Now, everything is getting exciting~'
He reached the building of his apartment, then parked the car before going out and heading to the apartment.
He got inside and hurried into his room without saying anything to the four women in the living room.
They seemed confused and Julia felt sad again, and that would make her suffer internally in the future as everytime she looked at him she would feel sad in her heart.
'Jake~'
The said person was in the room doing something on his computer with a smile of a mad scientist.
