The battle had come to a close.
David felt he was only about seventy percent satisfied. With his power once again ascended, his stamina and combat abilities had significantly improved. Clearly, it was time to consider ways to further enhance his ladies' strength to keep up with him.
"Lord Duke, you broke through again, didn't you?"
Rena closed her eyes for a moment, sensing the subtle changes in the surrounding energy before speaking with astonishment.
"Rena, you felt it too?" Amy chimed in, her face alight with curiosity.
Her perception was even sharper than Rena's. The icy aura from David's breakthrough seemed to resonate with her very soul, causing a fluttering excitement she could hardly describe. Initially, she thought it was just her imagination, but Rena's question confirmed her suspicion.
"You both noticed it?" Leah joined in, exchanging glances with the other two women.
The three shared a knowing smile before turning their attention to David.
"Yes, I've successfully condensed Frost Combat Aura," David replied with a faint smile. He began explaining the changes in his aura and strength brought about by his recent breakthrough.
He also shared his encounter with a female wizard and the acquisition of the Basic Meditation Technique, which elicited a chorus of gasps from his companions.
"My lord, is this your gift to us?" Amy beamed, eyes sparkling with anticipation.
"Do you like it?"
"Yes, yes!"
The meditation technique was undoubtedly the most significant boon for Amy, as a budding wizard. With this, she could formally embark on the path of wizardry. Her high-level affinity for frost elements would enable her to rapidly enhance her spiritual power and grow stronger.
Both Leah and Rena also displayed intrigue. Though their primary path was that of knights, the prospect of exploring wizardry intrigued them.
David left the trio to their own devices after breakfast, providing them with a written copy of the Basic Meditation Technique to study. Then, he made his way to the training chamber to attempt the technique himself.
As a first-timer, David found it challenging to establish the mental state needed for meditation. Fortunately, his prior experience with the Snow Demon Breathing Method gave him a foundation, and his innate Third-Tier spiritual strength provided him with an advantage.
"First, maintain inner tranquility. Visualize a calm, mirror-like lake…" David murmured, closing his eyes and emptying his mind.
This step appeared simple but was deceptively difficult. To practice meditation, one had to let go of all distractions and reach a state of mental emptiness. Only then could they manifest their spiritual energy and harness elemental forces to refine and strengthen it.
As David persisted, he felt his spiritual consciousness transported to a starry void. Frost elements, like tiny scattered stars, shimmered throughout this space. As he delved deeper into the meditative state, his spiritual energy began to absorb and integrate with these frosty motes.
This was the essence of the Basic Meditation Technique—immersing oneself in the natural flow of elements to refine one's spirit and deepen their connection to the world.
With his High-Level Frost Element Affinity, David could clearly sense the improvement in his spiritual power after just one session of meditation. Though the enhancement was minuscule, it shattered the bottleneck that had previously constrained him. He could now continue to grow stronger!
The efficiency of the meditation technique far surpassed the passive reinforcement provided by the Snow Demon Soul.
However, practicing the technique came with its own limitations. Each session consumed a significant amount of mental energy, leaving the practitioner fatigued and necessitating periods of rest between sessions.
Meanwhile, Amy had already successfully entered a meditative state, while Leah and Rena were still struggling.
"Amy, how did you manage to achieve meditation so quickly?" Leah asked, curious to learn from her experience.
Amy scratched her head, slightly embarrassed. "I just followed the method described in the manual, and it worked for me…"
"It seems that before meditating, we need to eliminate all distractions," Rena mused, her brow furrowing. "One must truly empty their mind and stop overthinking."
Rena realized that Amy's naturally simple and pure demeanor was an innate advantage. In contrast, both she and Leah found it difficult to silence their thoughts, posing a significant obstacle to entering the meditative state.
When David returned, Rena shared her insights.
"Indeed," David nodded in agreement. "Successfully meditating requires a completely blank mind. Even I nearly failed on my first attempt."
This limitation meant the meditation technique was not suitable for everyone. Each practitioner needed to discover their own method of achieving mental clarity.
"Perhaps… a 'reflective moment' after exertion might help," David mused with a playful glint in his eyes.
After sharing more tips and experiences with the trio, David decided to head to the castle's back hills. There, he planned to teach the meditation technique to Cynthia, enabling her to embark on the path of wizardry.
In the wooden house on the back hills, Cynthia had just finished practicing the Nine-Tailed Fox Breathing Method.
Returning inside, she began preparing a simple pot of porridge. Though modest, she found joy in the tranquility of her routine.
Her thoughts, however, frequently drifted to the lord who had recently become her beloved. Each morning, he would visit her, whether to practice breathing techniques or to accompany her on a hunt, before departing for his duties in the town hall.
Even her sisters often came by to practice their respective techniques, filling her life with companionship and purpose.
Today, however, her lord had yet to arrive, leaving her feeling inexplicably empty.
This feeling didn't linger long.
David's figure soon appeared in the distance, stepping into the wooden house. Their eyes met, and for a moment, Cynthia felt her heart melt.
Without hesitation, she ran toward him, throwing herself into his arms and wrapping her arms around his waist.
"Sorry, I'm late."
David gently patted Cynthia's head, his touch filled with warmth and care.
He hadn't realized that his delay due to practicing the meditation technique would evoke such a reaction from her.
