Chương 52: Dragon's oath

"What did you say? My bro is missing?"

"Yeah. Master himself had just group up with Lady Ria and the rest. They are on the lookout now, searching for whatever clue they can find."

San was shocked when he heard the report from one of Kasimon's spirit. She left this spirit of her in San's resident just for the information relay purpose.

"How did that happen? What could possibly trouble the combination of the Red Wargod and the Pink Demon?"

Ebb who also happened to be present at San's resident at the moment asked with a puzzled face. Both the Red Wargod and Pink Demon were legendary figure. Not just anything could defeat them. Not to mention that they entered the portal with their spirits, numbering twenty five in total. Even a gold ranked insane boss couldn't defeat them. If, only if their opponent was just a gold ranked insane boss.

"Gold ranked insane bosses. Not just one, three of them!"

"WHAAAATT??"

Both San and Ebb were shocked senseless. Three gold ranked insane boss, together at the same time. That was the epitome of insanity. That was something which totally defied common sense. Even if there were just two gold ranked insane bosses together at the same time, their power was not just merely an addition to each other. It was most likely doubled.

If both boss used their insane destructive skill at the same time, nothing would survive. There was an event once in HeavensTale where the opponents were two gold ranked insane boss. The result was obviously a total catastrophe. Hundreds of player were slain several times before they managed to subdue those two.

And now, the Red Wargod and Pink Demon actually confronted three of them. How in the world did they managed to stay alive? What actually happened for Mays who should be in the area to be missing without trace? How come Ria and the rest of the spirits was still there?

More and more question popped out as San tried to organize his thought. He just couldn't calm himself down in this situation. The one which had gone missing was his one and only blood related family, his brother.

"Calm down, San. Your brother is alive. MAYS IS ALIVE!"

Ebb who noticed San's complexion shook his friend's shoulder to bring him back to reality. His shout echoed several time in the room. San who was shaken earlier finally regained his composure as he smiled at Ebb while wiping the sweat pouring on his forehead.

"Thanks."

"No sweat, man."

"Can you tell me in details which three gold ranked insane bosses are they?"

"Ranked second the Immortal Pheonix Shalala, ranked fifth the Heaven Crystal Dragon Drasca and ranked ninth Vampire Lord Kokakola."

"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTT???"

Once again, the both of them shouted in unison after they heard the name of the three insane bosses Mays and Ria encountered. Those three they encountered were all grand character. Every single one of them were even ranked in the top ten of the list. It really was a miracle for the two of them to be alive.

Several minutes passed by without anyone saying anything. Both Ebb and San were deep in their thought while Tomiran's spirit who conveyed the report stood there motionless waiting for order. The tranquility continued for several more minutes before Ebb finally started talking.

"I get it. The reason why Mays had been alive must be because of Drasca."

"Ha? Why do you say so?"

San was obviously not very bright. He always solved everything with his fist, not his brain. He asked right away after Ebb voiced out his opinion.

"Because among all three of them, only Drasca has the power to control space and a heart kind enough not to kill a human."

"Oh?"

Apparently, San still didn't get the whole picture. Ebb sighed as he continued his explanation on his deduction.

"That phoenix, she didn't even have any skill which could transport your brother away so she was out of the list. As for the other two, they both possess racial skill related to teleportation or warping. But again, just imagine the vampire lord. Its common sense maaaaaaaaaaaaaan. His hatred for human seconds to none. There was no way for him to abduct your brother and keep him safe. Then, there was only one possibility left. Got it?"

"Yeah I got it."

After listening to Ebb's full explanation, San finally understood the situation at hand. He also wondered about something hence he asked Ebb right away. Ebb was quite good with his brain. Hell, he was the brain for MisfitSociety.

"By the way, why are you not in the top ranking of Simulation War in HeavensTale?"

"Because there are a lot more outstanding people out there. But hey I was still in the rank, eleventh though."

"Oh really? But sorry I don't consider anything below tenth rank."

"Tch, just because you always ranked ninth or tenth in PVP most of the time."

"Hahaha. Anyways, any other thing you should tell me?"

Staring directly at Kasimon's spirit who stood right in front of him, San asked for further information. That spirits just shook her head as she replied.

"Sorry but that was all. Also, is there any orders I need to relay back to my master?"

San smiled as he heard that question.

"Tell them to stay put for now. And, they can also expect reinforcement."

"Duly noted, Sir Sanortep. I'll take my leave now."

"Hmm okay."

That spirit left the room right away leaving Both San and Ebb staring at each other without saying anything.

"Care to repeat what you just said?"

Once again, Ebb started the conversation.

"Which part? The reinforcement? I really meant it you know hahaha."

"For real? Do you know how dangerous it is to go there? This is the demon continent you know? The danger might even rival the Great War you know?"

"Hahahhaha so?"

Laughing it off as if it was a trivial matter, San stared directly at Ebb's eyes, sizing him up. At the moment, San's eyes shone brightly, filled with determination.

"Tch, fine."

Ebb clicked his tongue as he gave up trying to force San out of it. He knew that San was determined. He wouldn't budge an inch after he made up his mind.

"Well then, we still need to make lots of preparation before we could actually march toward demon continent. At least for now, we already secured a gateway."

-----------------------------------------------------------------

A group of people were camping not too far away from Demonfall Forest. Rather than setting up a simple camp, they took out perfectly built houses from their archive cube and placed several of them beside each other. It became an immediate settlement rather than a camp.

Holding two pitch black sword while sitting not too far away from the newly found settlement, a lone girl was lost in her thought. She was gazing at the sky for almost half an hour, thinking about a certain someone.

"Don't worry too much. He is safe for sure."

Ria was startled when someone suddenly talked to her. She almost dropped the swords she was holding because of that. The black swords in her hand were both Mays's signature sword, the Blood Devouring Sword. After intensive search for a whole day, they managed to find those pair of swords from within the ruins.

They also collected all the other legendary tier equipment dropped by the dead spirits on the battlefield. Spirits die without corpses. They disappeared right away, leaving their equipment behind after their death. Ria and the rest already knew about that so they were not surprised by it.

"Ahh, sorry. I just can't help worrying."

With a wry smile on her face, she replied with a gloomy tone. She was really worried about Mays. At the very least, she was not that desperate anymore.

"It's okay. I understand. Can I sit here?"

"Yeah. Please do."

The person initiating the conversation with Ria was Kasimon. She sat beside Ria after she gained her permission.

"That blackening, we already find out the cause."

With her finger pointed at the blade in Ria's grip, Kasimon casually told her what they just find out.

"Really?"

"Yeah. It's an event boss skill called the [Curse of Mortal]. Its effect lasted for one whole week which is why Mays can't contact us yet. All his items and skills are muted. I believe that after one week Mays will come back."

Ria's face brighten considerably after she heard what Kasimon just said. It had been two days since Mays went missing. Mays was no fool. If he survived, he would immediately summoned his dragon and rushed toward Demonfall Forest to meet them. The only reason why he didn't do so was because he couldn't.

"Ah, he have his own difficulties."

Letting out a relived sigh, Ria once again stared at the clear blue sky with a determined look. Nobody knew what she was thinking right now.

"Also…"

"Yea?"

"The Heaven Crystal Dragon's teleportation skills are random. We can't track Mays even if we wanted to."

Once again Ria's mood turned sour. She felt bad every time she thought about Mays. She wanted to go get him as soon as possible but she didn't have the means to. He might had been suffering all these time, especially when the curse on him was still active.

"With that said, the least we can do right now is to gather information from nearby cities. We know next to nothing about demon continent after all. Wanna tag along?"

"Ah okay."

Ria replied spiritlessly. There was nothing else she could do.

Three medium sized flood dragon mounts were ready and waiting. Unlike legendary people such as Mays and Ria, most players couldn't get a hold of dragon mounts. They were mostly a reward from clearing dungeons or raids with impossible circumstances. Normal players could only settle with either flood dragons or wyverns as their proud mounts.

The members of Misfit Squad already divided the task between them. Adol and Bahar would form the first scout party, Joyah and Dora as the second party and the last party would be Kasimon and Ria. Tomiran would be the one substituting in if Ria had refused to go.

Their leader, Samat together with Tomiran would stay behind and look after the area. Mays's spirits were also staying. None of them was in the mood to go out when their master was still missing. Aside from Alicia, Ria's other spirits were also staying at the camp.

It didn't take long before each flood dragon flew away in different direction. One headed east, another was west and the last one was north. They didn't even know where this Demonfall Forest was located in this continent. They need to at least find a map of the continent together with the most basic information about power structure here.

"They go just like that."

"…"

"Yer back to being mute? Gah, whatever."

Samat gave up trying to talk to Tomiran. They had spent five years together and yesterday was the very first time he heard him talk. And now he was back to his usual demeanor, the indifferent mute.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Both Mays and Hallel was respectively on top of their mounts as they walked past several nymph's village along the way. Mays also tried communicating with them using his memory of the quest from HeavensTale as the basis.

"How is it?"

"All within calculation. Hehe."

Mays grinned as he replied. He always smiled like that whenever things go the way he predicted. After several time imitating the scene and scenario in HeavensTale, he came to a conclusion that all these dryad and nymphs were carbon copy of those from HeavensTale.

"Nothing else in this dukedom is worth investigating. Let's proceed to the next dukedom."

"Do you know what lies ahead of this dukedom?"

"No I don't."

"Do you even know the distribution and location of dukedom in this continent?"

"Obviously I don't hehe."

"Okay I give up. Want me to at least explain the geography and power distribution in this continent?"

"Hahhaha sorry. I'll have you tell me in details about it when we have dinner later okay."

"Ugh, whatever."

Hallel sighed at Mays's nonchalant reply. It was as if he didn't care about the fact he knew next to nothing about demon continent. He happily moved from one village to another, testing and verifying things as he pleased.

"It's not like I don't plan to do anything about it but I just feel like doing whatever I can at the moment. Even if I know about everything right now, I can't do anything yet because of this curse. Hell, I can't even look for Ria who is totally worried sick about me. That's why those kind of things can wait until later."

As if he could sense the distress of Hallel, Mays explained without being asked. He even smiled wryly as he looked at Hallel. Facing that empty and sorrowful smile, Hallel was left speechless. There was no way for her to say anything else when her needless banter touched something she shouldn't.

The two of them then proceed toward the east in an awkward atmosphere. Mays was silent all the time, deep in his thought while Hallel let out several sigh, regretting her previous action.

"Human."

"Eh?"

Mays let out a shocked voice as that voice echoed in his mind.

"Don't fret, human. I merely talked in your conciousness."

"Drasca?"

"Yes, it is I, Drasca."

Mays was quite surprised by the fact that he could communicate with Drasca in his mind. He didn't even need to voice out his opinion, just his thought was enough to be the medium of conversation.

"So, what's up?"

Clueless as he was, Mays didn't really know how to start a conversation with her. She was his benefactor but at the same time she was his former enemy. In fact, he didn't even know why she tried so hard to save him.

"Before that, tell me your name human."

"Name? I'm Mays."

"I, Drasca, hereby swear on my exalted dragon blood that I will in the future be faithful to the lord I have chosen, Mays of humankind. I will never cause him harm and will observe my homage to him completely and without deceit."

"OUCHH!"

Mays shouted right after Drasca finished reciting her oath. He fell down from his mount. His pinkie finger was actually bitten by Drasca during the final part of that oath. Mays who was on the floor sucked his finger as he stared at the small dragon who pretended to have nothing to do with it as it crawled up onto Mays's shoulder.

"What happened?"

Hallel already jumped down her mount as she approached Mays. She saw Mays fell from his mount and immediately rushed toward him to check his condition.

"Nah, nothing big. Just this dragon suddenly bite my finger out of nowhere."

Brushing it off as if it was nothing, Mays pointed his finger with the bite mark toward Hallel. She shook her head before she walked back to her mount.

"WHOAAA!!"

"Again?"

"Sorry, sorry. It was nothing."

Mays immediately apologized as he rubbed the back of his head. He smiled at Hallel before he once again ride his mount and resumed their journey. Puzzled by Mays's weird behavior, Hallel didn't bother asking anything as she also jumped onto her mounts and started moving. She had not known Mays that long to begin with so she stopped herself from asking too much.

"What… in… the… world… are… you… thinking?!"

"Why?"

Nonchalantly answering Mays's question with another question was Drasca, who suddenly appeared in human form inside Mays's consciousness, completely naked. She appeared unperturbed as if she had done nothing wrong at all.

"For god's sake, at least wear clothes!"

Closing his eyes, Mays shouted inside his mind. His action was literally useless as the visual of Drasca's full body became more substantial without his sight obstructing his thought. He felt uber weird right now since this was the very first time someone or something intruded his mind.

"Is this acceptable?"

This time, Drasca's body projection was wearing a clear, frilly blue dress. It matched perfectly with her silver hair and beautiful curvy body.

"Good enough. For now, can you explain the basis of your action thus far? Starting from the moment we met."

"Gladly."

Mays listened attentively as Drasca explained everything which happened from the moment they met until just now when she pledged her loyalty to him. After some time, Mays rearranged the information he just gained before he repeat them in order just to clarify.

"You, Shalala and Kokakola were all mind controlled by someone."

"Em."

"Thanks to the collar, your mind control was broken."

"Em."

"The light pillar was something that even you didn't know what but it cleared your mind."

"Em."

"You saving me was pure obligatory?"

"Em."

"Then you pledged your loyalty to me because I saved you?"

"Em."

Mays shook his head before he continued.

"I understand most part but where is the logic behind your submission?"

"You saved me."

"But you saved me first?"

"That was obligatory."

"Then you can say me saving you was obligatory too."

"Not happening."

"Why?"

"We proud dragons served our saviour for the rest of our life."

"Even if I never agreed to it?"

"Em."

"Suit yourself then. It profited me the most if you really become my servant anyway."

This lady inside his consciousness was totally unreasonable. Everything he said wouldn't matter to her once she had decided on something. She didn't even bother listening to reason. Now that she had decided to take him as her master, she wouldn't bulged.

If he recalled correctly, Drasca was a legendary dragon who lived alone for centuries. Back in HeavensTale, her dungeon instance was a simple twenty-five man single boss raid. Her description back then was quite vague too, leaving Mays with almost no clue about this existence named Drasca. At the very least, he knew that this dragon meant no harm since she already pledged herself to him. Mays just prayed that nothing would go wrong later on when he reunited with Ria and the rest.

"And you really don't know who it is that controlled you before this?"

"No idea."

"Bleh, never mind. I'll think about it later."

Not planning to think about it for now, Mays focused his mind of the road ahead, ignoring the flashing visual of Drasca who was still inside his consciousness. He didn't even notice a meaningful smile on Drasca's bewitching lips as he was preoccupied with a lot of things at the moment. The female dragon had other motives for sure.
