100% Walker of Dreams; Becoming the Dream Lord / Chapter 2: The System

Chương 2: The System

Allen felt a soft wind hit him in the darkness. His body instinctively reacted and sat up while he opened his eyes. With his jaw dropping, he looked around at a wide open plains and the bright blue sky.

"Where am I? Heaven truly exists?" He spoke in bewilderment and awe, rubbing his eyes to ensure he wasn't misunderstanding his situation.

Allen stood up and inspected his body, realizing his clothes to be completely different from when he was in his house.

A dark grey tunic with simple white pants and a brown leather belt.

[Hello, Allen. You have been brought to another world, and this plane you're seeing is part of your Dreamwalker System!]

"Who was that?!" Allen jumped slightly and looked around quickly, his head on a swivel as he couldn't see anything.

A grey screen appeared in his eyesight, which caused him to open his eyes in wonder. It was extremely similar to the novels he read as well as the games he played.

[You are the proud owner of the Dreamwalker System. More details will be given once you are awake, but for now, take the next 4 hours to wander and explore. There are items and useful tools all around. This is a peaceful dream, with a lot of opportunities. You may only return here once you have gained a ticket through quests. Use your time well!]

'When I wake up? I'm asleep right now? That doesn't make sense..' Allen read every word over again and again.

He knew rather quickly that he had to take the messages advice. A timer had appeared on the screen, showing 4:58:27. The time was dwindling.

He started to look around and went in a random direction. He saw a forest a little ways away, which seemed rather fruitful with the soft glow of light, which seemed to be a reflection of the sun.

Once he reached the trees, he noticed that stuck into the root was a pair of dark crimson kamas. The blades had a clear shine to the sharpened sides, and he picked them up carefully and inspected them closely.

Feeling the comfortable handles, the smoothness of the metal, suddenly, a screen appeared in front of him.

[Blood Fang Kamas]

• [STR +3]

• [AGI +7]

• [DEX +4]

[Skills]

[Blood Frenzy: When the blades soak up enough blood, speed and attack damage is given a moderate boost.]

[System Analysis: A beautiful set of weapons with exceptional stat bonuses for a warrior, hunter, or assassin just starting their journey.]

'A weapon? No harm in having them, I guess, but why?' He thought and sighed after noticing the time running down again. He slot the kamas into his belt, which had four loops on either side, presumably to store weapons or other items.

He continued to walk in the forest for hours. He came across only a couple more items, some of which were even equipped onto his body in order to bolster defense as necessary.

[Bladed Bracers]

• [DEF +4]

• [STR +3]

[Skills]

[Offensive Defense: When blocking an attack, there is a 15% chance to cause the weapon to break. If it is an unarmed strike, it will cause bleed damage instead.]

[System Analysis: A fine set of bracers with serrated blades on the sides. The blades can retract and extend, aiding in keeping a trump card.]

'These are rather useful. Somehow, it seems they can read my thoughts, too.' As he explored, he tested the retract and extend option by thinking about it. With every thought, the blades would either be pulled into the bracers, rendering them completely invisible to someone looking at them, or extend outward and revealing them again.

He decided to keep them hidden.

[Forgotten Spatial Ring]

[Info]

[A ring lost to time. Inside, there is storage space 15 yards across and 10 yards high.]

[System Analysis: A beautiful black and purple ring with spatial storage capability. Useless to the host. However, it can be worn to hide the fact of owning an inventory.]

"I have an inventory? That's really cool. The time is about to be up though, so I'll see what happens. I hope mom isn't too worried." He sat down under a tree and sighed softly at his words.

From his reading, he knew that people usually gained a system after reincarnation. As cool as it may be, he really hoped he hadn't died. He loved his family, after all.

[5 hours of exploration within the dream has concluded. Waking the host now.]

After reading the message, Allen noticed his vision start to darken. Once his sight came back, he sat up and inspected the room.

'I guess the doctor was right about my diagnosis, huh..?' Tears welled up in his eyes as he thought of this.

[Prepare for memory infusion, host. This may sting.]

'What?'

The pain flooded in all at once, and he clutched his hand, holding in his scream of pain as he didn't know who or what was around.

After what felt like hours of agonizing headaches, relief spread through him as the pain went away and new memories flooded in.

'I have the same name, but this world is bizarre. I'm a Hunter, an F class one, which is the lowest tier, but nonetheless, that's already really interesting.' He got up from the bed and found a truly simple wallet on the desk nearby, crudely made to hold his identification cards alone. A single small pouch was beside the wallet to hold his coin.

He read the card slowly.

Allen Bright. F Class. Mixed Mage/Close Combatant.

'Short and simple, but mage?' He put a finger to his chin as he scanned his memories. Finding that he did indeed use magic, but he could only apply buffs to himself.

He also discovered he worked alone for the most part, and the place he was residing was the Hawkthorne Inn of Levancula City.

[Host, I advise you to view your own information by saying or thinking 'status.]

Allen read the message, wiping the little trails of water from his eyes and taking a breath to calm his nerves.

'Status.'

[Allen Bright]

[Level: 6]

[Class: Combat Mage] (+) [Dreamwalker] (+)

[Title: Dreamwalker, Damros' Chosen, ...]

[HP: 150/150]

[Mana: 300/350]

[Dream Energy: 10/1,500,000]

[Stats]

• Strength - 11

• Agility - 16

• Dexterity - 17

• Endurance - 13

• Intelligence - 24

• Soul - 58

(10 on each attribute is the ability of the average adult.)

[Skills]

[Mana Sense - Lvl 2] (+)

[Silent Casting - Lvl 4] (+)

[Physical Enhancement - Lvl 5] (+)

[Weapon Mastery - Lvl 1] (+)

[Dreamwalker - Lvl 1] (+)

"These stats and skills seem pretty good, but why is my soul stat so high?" After reading his status and seeing the dull grey plus signs, he knew he could upgrade his abilities and such, but not without practice or some other requirements.

[Host, your soul attribute is so great due to your reincarnation. As this body was once home to another soul before you came to it.]

"Ah..thanks that answers that question. How about that explanation you promised me in the uh..dream world?" He thought about the status screen going away and it worked. As for the skills and checking what they did, he didn't need to seeing as he had the memories of how to use them, and felt that his body would know how to use them if he simply said the word in his mind. Aside from Dreamwalker which had to do with the system.

[Host, congratulations for acquiring the Dreamwalker System. With the help of the system, you can enter dreams of others or yourself to train, gain items, and more. Retaining the items you acquire in the dreamscapes will require Dream Energy in order to bring them back to the real world with you. Dream Energy is similar to Mana in the way that it regenerates slowly over time, but unlike Mana, you can up your Dream Energy by sleeping naturally or sapping away the energy from other living beings you come into contact with. This won't harm the living being, it'll only cause the person to have no dreams that night. As for items coming with you to reality, the amount of Dream Energy is entirely dependent on the power of said item. To keep your stats, a fixed amount of energy will be required to keep and bring to reality, with it having increments of 5, 10, 25, 50, 75, and 100% of the stats gained in dreams.]

"That's a lot of info, but..thanks for the explanation. Is it possible to one day return to my world, bringing you and everything else with me?" Allen asked hopefully.

[One day, yes. However that will require more Dream Energy then your current maximum amount and the world you came from to experience a Mana Rebirth, which is also possible to cause with the system.]

"That much power, huh? At least there's hope. What about my titles? Dreamwalker is easy to grasp, but Damros' Chosen?"

[Damros is the God of Dreams. He chose you to walk the path of power using dreams. Essentially, you are a successor he hopes to train well in order to take his place one day.]

At this, Allen was stunned. Successor? Replace a God?

'You mean to say I'll be a God one day?' He asked in his mind due to the sheer amount of shock keeping him from audibly speaking.

[In a great many years, perhaps. Don't keep that in your mind, as the progress necessary is quite tremendous. I'd recommend starting your day as a Hunter as well as to make contact with many beings, human or otherwise, to increase your Dream Energy storage. You're running rather short on it after all.]

"A-ah..yeah, ok. Thanks for the advice." He rubbed the back of his head, putting on some leather armor before finding the kamas, bracers, and ring were already on his body this whole time.

'Interesting..I'll find use for the inventory now then.'

With that, he grabbed his wallet and coin pouch. The items were slotted into the inventory, disappearing in front of him and showing up on the little screen.

Dismissing it, he walked out of the inn and headed towards the Hunters Association, ready to see how this world will treat him.
