Chương 26: Chapter 26

The plan is coming together. I can see row upon row of boats on the river while people march to get into the boats. Three types of boats are used in this fight: ramming, archer, and melee.

A ramming boat is a slender boat with a special crystal that makes it move faster, even without the help of wind. It is a destroyer boat that uses a hit-and-destroy tactic. This type of boat usually targets the archer boat.

An archer boat is a wide boat with a protective wooden shield in front of the archer. It is wide to put as many archers as possible, but there is no armor around the boat, so it is a favorite target of the ramming boat.

The last one is the melee boat or the boarding boat. It is a long boat with a row and sail. It has a crystal that can push the boat, but it is not as good as the one in the ramming boat. It can push the boat fast enough and combine it with people rowing it; it will be fast. This boat is the one that made sure the ramming boat did not reach the archer boat.

My companion and I will be on the ramming boat. We will be the ones wreaking havoc in the enemy's backline. I will command three hundred people in this fight.

The only command from Lucretia is to make sure that my unit does not get too far and break the plan. There is an invisible line that we should not be crossing.

I shake my head and look at the army outside the city of Rainwall. Lucretia is true to her word as she manages to buy enough boats and hire enough mercenaries for the incoming fight, from the previous seven hundred and fifty men to two thousand and one hundred men.

It is almost three times the previous number.

That is a great addition. Previously, Lucretia only relied on the environment and admitted that the chance of winning would be slim and would need great luck. That means the canon victory Freyjadour achieved is because of plot armor and luck, huh?

I just hope that luck will still be present.

"Oi, boss! Come on! We will depart in a few hours!"

I look back and see Nikea already waiting for me. I nod and follow her down the wall, where my companion is standing under the wall with a smile on their face. I look at them and say.

"You guys really joined the war, huh?"

Norma and Ernst (who is in his human form) walk forward and say.

"We will join the war because of you, Gerrald. We are in debt to you and will pay you back."

"By joining a war that you did not need to get involved with."

"Yes"

I can only sigh and look at Gavaya and Hazuki, who smile at me. Gavaya walks forward and says.

"I'm a soldier for hire, boss. You pay me and teach me how to be a real man, and it is time for me to give you my service."

Hazuki looks at me and says.

"I'm coming from a family of swordsmen that sell our service. This will be a perfect way to increase my swordsmanship."

Lastly, I look at Nikea, who grins at me.

"What are you looking at me for, boss? I'm your bodyguard, and as a bodyguard, I will follow you everywhere you go!"

I can only smile at their words and say.

"Very well. Let's win this fight, and when we win, I will cook you the best food you will ever taste in your life!"

At that word, my companion shouts in excitement.

Admiral Bahram Luger, the loyal admiral of the Godwin Army and the former student of Legendary Admiral Raja looks at the mist in front of him and sighs a little.

He did not like this fight. Not only because he is fighting his former teacher and master but also because he knows that this fight will be the hardest. He knows how Admiral Raja is the most formidable admiral in the entire continent, maybe even the world, and fighting her will cost his armada a lot of men to win the fight.

"Admiral! We are about to arrive near Raftfleet!"

"Good. Prepare the other! We will start with the melee boats to take all the arrows while getting the ramming boats following from behind. When they get closer, the ramming boats will go full speed and start the attack."

"Yes, admiral! I will inform the others."

Bahram nods and continues looking at the mist in front of him, which continues to get thicker the longer they are near Raftfleet. He did not like this mist because it can be a blessing or a curse in disguise.

The mist after a storm will cover their fleet and create a perfect surprise attack against Raftfleet, making the battle easier. However, he is afraid that his former teacher and master will also use this mist as an ambush.

However, he cannot wait any longer because Lord Godwin already tells him that today will be the deadline for him to attack. He is just a servant to his lord and obeys the command. He ordered his fleet to move even with the thick mist after the storm.

*BOOM*

Bahram snaps from his thoughts when he hears many of his ships get destroyed from around him. He runs toward one of his men and says.

"Tell the magician to search for an enemy attack! I want to know if it is a monster or an enemy! Go!"

"Yes, admiral!"

The soldier runs to the back of the ship and returns with a group of magicians a few minutes later.

One of the robbed men walks forward and says.

"My lord! There is no humanoid being other than us!"

"How about monsters?!"

"None! We did not know what was going on! The ship around us gets damaged by something."

Bahram frowns and thinks about Raftfleet's tactic to block them before his mind connects the dots.

"Stop! Stop! We need to retreat! Don't get deeper into their territory!"

Sadly for him, before his man can get the order around, the mist disappears and reveals a fleet in the opposite direction of them. Bahram's remaining fleet stands around a graveyard of ships and boulders.

They are trapped in the middle of the trap field set by Lucretia. He can only say one thing.

"Shit"
