Chương 37: The Kidnapping of Kate (Part One)
After dealing with the Reaper gang, Alex drove to the school at noon. As usual, Kate waited for Alex at the school gate to have lunch together.
A black Audi pulled up in front of Kate. Three men in black suits and sunglasses got out, grabbing Kate's arms and dragging her into the car. Just as she was about to scream for help, one of them covered her mouth with a cloth. The acrid smell infiltrated her nose, and she quickly lost consciousness. The men shoved Kate into the car, which sped away from the school.
Less than a minute after the Audi left, Alex arrived at the school gate. Not seeing Kate, who was always there, made him uneasy. He took out his phone and called her, but the phone rang endlessly with no answer. A sense of panic seized Alex. He parked his car and rushed into the school, heading to her classroom, but she wasn't there either.
Alex frowned, calling Kate's number again with the same result. As time passed, students returned to class from lunch, but none had seen Kate.
"Boss, what's wrong? You look troubled," Jack asked loudly as he entered the classroom with Ben.
"Jack, Ben, have you seen Kate?" Alex asked urgently.
"Boss, she wasn't with you? We saw her waiting at the school gate," Ben replied, scratching his head.
Hearing this, Alex felt a surge of panic. He slammed his fist on the desk, startling everyone in the room.
"Kate will be fine. She has to be," Alex muttered to himself. He called Kate's home, but she wasn't there either.
An icy chill enveloped Alex. He dialed Hugh's number. "Hugh, Kate is missing. Mobilize everyone in the gang. Turn City H upside down if you have to, but find her."
Kate's disappearance caused an uproar. The Reaper gang scoured every corner of City H, monitoring highways, train stations, and airports. Alex drove back to Imperial Holdings' headquarters, staring out the floor-to-ceiling windows with Mark, Edward, Hugh, and Grant standing silently behind him.
Alex's eyes gleamed with cold fury. Kate meant more to him than his own life. Anyone who harmed her would face his wrath.
"Don't worry, young master. Kate will be fine," Mark said softly.
"Let's hope you're right," Alex sighed.
The ringing of Alex's phone broke the silence. Seeing Kate's number, a mix of joy and excitement washed over him, his hand trembling slightly. "Kate! Is that you?" he answered. A man's voice responded, "Hahaha, Alex, your girl is with me. If you want to see her again, do as I say."
"As long as you don't hurt Kate, I'll agree to any condition. If anything happens to her, I'll kill your entire family," Alex replied coldly.
"Still so arrogant, huh? Listen up, there's an abandoned boiler factory in the southern suburbs. Come alone, or you'll never see Kate again." The call ended abruptly.
"What's going on, Chairman?" Hugh asked quietly.
"Kate's been kidnapped. They want me to go to the abandoned boiler factory in the southern suburbs alone," Alex said.
"Young master, it's dangerous. I'll bring the twenty-four Iron Guards with me," Mark insisted. Hugh, Edward, and Jiang Wei nodded in agreement.
"We're going, but here's the plan: Mark, you and the Iron Guards follow five minutes after I leave. Make sure nothing happens to Kate."
Seeing Alex's resolve, Mark nodded reluctantly. "Yes, young master. Please be careful."
Alex drove his silver Lamborghini towards the abandoned boiler factory. The car sped down the road like lightning. Within ten minutes, Alex arrived at the factory's courtyard. He stepped out, surveying the dilapidated surroundings. Six black Audis were parked outside the largest building, where five men in black suits patrolled.
A cold smile played on Alex's lips as he approached the building.
One of the men pointed a gun at Alex. "Are you Alex? Our boss is waiting inside. Stand still while I search you." He patted Alex down from chest to ankle.
"You can go in," the man said.
Alex entered the large, rundown building, where over thirty men with guns were waiting. Seeing Noah standing opposite him, a flash of murderous intent flickered in Alex's eyes.
Noah grinned smugly. "Well, well, look who's not so arrogant now."
"Alex! Leave me and go! He wants to kill you!" Kate cried, tears streaming down her cheeks. Two of Noah's men held her tightly.
Noah slapped Kate hard. "Shut up, you worthless thing! You both die here today."
Seeing Kate struck, Alex felt a stabbing pain in his heart. He clenched his fists, his eyes burning with a deadly glare.
"Beat him to a pulp, then let him watch the show," Noah ordered, laughing.
Noah's men grabbed wooden clubs and swung them at Alex. He stood still, taking the blows without flinching.
"Alex! Run! Don't worry about me, please!" Kate sobbed, struggling to break free.
Noah yanked Kate by the hair, pulling her into his arms and groping her chest. "See, Alex? She's mine now. What can you do? Come on, kill me if you dare!"
Alex's eyes blazed with fury. Wiping the blood from his mouth, he said coldly, "Noah, I'll kill your entire family. Not even your dog will be spared."
Noah felt a chill run down his spine, but he snarled, "You won't get the chance. Beat him to death."
