ODON'S POV
When the phone rang, the familiar name "Laurene" flashed on the screen, and a small smile tugged at my lips. I felt a flicker of hope—she must have found Maurice. I was ready to hear what she had to say. But when I answered the call, I was met with a voice I hadn't expected: my son.
"Ma," he said coolly, dismissively brushing me off. "Go back to Budapest."
The words struck me like a slap to the face, cold and harsh. Before I could even process what he'd said, he disconnected the call, leaving me staring at the screen in disbelief. Anger flared within me, hot and furious. How dare he speak to me like that?
Creation is hard, cheer me up!
