Chương 4: Ecstasy

"Haha" A light chuckle escaped my mouth. I dropped to my knees, my upper body held up by my hands, "Ha... HAHA... HAHAHA!!" YES! ECSTASY! I could feel it! My blood rushing to my head, each cell in my body BREATHED in this drug that coursed through my veins.

FINALLY! My destiny was presented. God had shown me the way! This filthy magic corrupts God's world. I knew how to expunge it. I knew how to remove it! How could I not be ecstatic!

An unspecial existence that can't even use magic. All I had was knowledge of 'how', but that much is enough. I was ecstatic, and this ecstasy was enough to shun down any counterargument I could have. I can do it because I was chosen. Because this is my destiny. I will get rid of magic.

With these thoughts flooding through my head, I went over to the stone. The magic energy it was releasing increased the closer I went. My hair was fluttered from the magical energy the stone released. It was difficult to shut my eyes, and keeping them open was even more challenging. Was I a mage, I would have died before I could have even entered this room. Not even the strongest of mages could walk around in this place.

I extended my hand toward the golden-purple watch that draped from the ceiling. Quiescent, as if time was not moving for it. A slight tug made it fall right into my hand. Looking at it closely, it was beautiful, mystifyingly alluring. The ornate watch had no hour-hand, even the second and minute hands did not move.

I moved my hand through its back. Click. A part of its back detached itself from the right end, like a door. The back opened up from its right end to form a case for the front. The inside of the case door was hollowed out. It had a button on its top and a tiny opening at its bottom that looked like a keyhole.

I picked up the stone and carefully placed it in the hollowed-out part of the case. I didn't feel that the stone would harm me. Just as I closed the watch, the torrent of magic completely disappeared. As if it was merely an illusion.

This cave, this place, I still couldn't process my situation, but my ecstasy wouldn't have any of that. I inspected the watch once more, clicking the button on its top out of curiosity.

Click~

A loud click resounded in the air.

Tick. Tick. Tick.

The heck? Did it start working now? I creaked open the case of the watch. The torrent of magic energy came crashing back into the room. Unable to stand it, I shut the cover back.

Tick. Tick. Tick.

Well, maybe it started working since I placed the stone inside? I nodded at my deduction and moved out of the room. Yup, I had work to get to—

Click~

—and there was still an exit... to... find? "Eh? What?" I looked around me and saw the ornate dome-shaped room again. Right next to me was the altar and the seven pillars. "Didn't I just... leave this place?"

Could it be instant displacement again? Like at the entrance of the cave? I ran outward and once again...- yeah, no. I was outside the room. The heck? Ah! The ticking had stopped! I went inside the room to its center and pressed the button again. Nothing. What the heck? Did it stop working now?

Maybe I needed a break. "The frequency of my rests has increased like the number of rip-offs of popular novels," I sighed and fell on the floor again. I stretched a bit and lied down again. It would be better to move once I have calmed down.

After about an hour, I found myself calm enough to move. Something in my gut told me there's still more to know here. A slight sense of incongruity lingered in the air. Once again, I fiddled with the watch and pressed the button.

Click~

It was ticking again!! I jumped into action and moved towards the center of the room. The sticking incessantly as I counted the seconds myself. Exactly 30 seconds later. I found back where I had pressed the button.

"Instantaneous movement or... Am I maybe, just maybe, rewinding time?" I stayed in the room to figure this mystery out.

An hour passed by with no results. Every 5 minutes, I tapped the button on top, but it never worked. Just what happened back there? Once again, I tapped the button—

Click~

OH! It worked! A one-hour reload time or something? I could now check if the watch rewinds time. How you ask? Vandalism, duh!

I charged towards the altar with a grin and kicked with all my might. It flew off and crashed into one of the 7 pillars.

Tick. Tick. Tick.

I pulled my dagger out and slashed away at the extremely annoying writings of revelation. They are useful, sure. But boy, did you write all this annoyingly! I kicked and punched at the walls, breaking everything in my sight.

GRRRR

A loud voice shook the entire room when I punched a part of the wall. Dust filled every corner of the room as an enormous staircase revealed itself on one end.

Click~

Everything was back to 0. My whole great demolition never happened... As expected! I could rewind time.

"Hahaha! This is it! Do I need anything else to prove that this was my destiny? Oh, God! You have shared even your abilities with me. Even these walls, if time can be turned back, then why can't magic be removed! With this, who can ever stop me? Unspecial? No magic? Forgive those remarks of mine! With this power I have been bestowed, nothing is unreachable!"

**

When I was destroying this place, a stairwell had appeared. I could retain information from those 30 seconds. Was the watch rewinding time or projecting the future? For now, it would be best to think of it as an ability to test things out, a trial run.

I cracked my neck and looked around the place. Staying was the best option. Had I left this room, I would have never found that exit-like staircase. Unfortunately for this place, though, I don't remember which part of the wall opened the staircase...
