"Wait! Those are our military personnel! Don't act recklessly!"
Perhaps upon seeing Renault and his comrades dispatching the berserk armored vehicles and mechs, the soldier who halted Renault didn't utter any harsh words.
He simply pointed to the figures in combat uniforms in the distance.
They couldn't afford to have 'friendly forces' engage in combat against each other.
"Oh? I beg to differ. If they're your people, why are all these guys aiming guns at you now?"
Rat-a-tat-tat!
Before the soldier could respond, the military 'support' from afar had already pulled the trigger without hesitation!
"Get down!"
Shouting this, Renault and SPAS-12 swiftly knocked down a group of unfortunate souls who hadn't reacted yet.
Some of the more astute ones immediately sought cover upon seeing the soldiers aiming firearms.
Yegor was among them.
After ensuring it was safe on their side, he couldn't help but look around. "General Carter!"
"Cough, I'm here! Lend me a hand!"
Yegor glanced around, only to spot General Carter extending his hand from the ditch, evidently having just dived in to evade gunfire.
Fortunately, this ditch was near the city's edge and contained no liquid... well, except for the murky mud at the bottom... the odor might not be too pleasant.
Ignoring the pungent scent emanating from General Carter, Yegor pulled him out and immediately inquired of Carter, "General, what's going on? Those people were clearly wearing our special forces uniforms!"
"Calm down, Yegor. Those aren't our people. When did we have so many human combat personnel?"
As a member of KCCO, Carter naturally knew exactly how many living soldiers he had.
They barely comprised a small team, all elite. The rest were mostly the military's androids. While commanding them was a bit cumbersome, they didn't require soldiers and officers to personally engage in frontline combat. They were relatively easy to utilize.
"Where's Griggs?"
Scanning the surroundings, Carter quickly surveyed the situation behind cover.
All the personnel he had brought were present, not a single one missing except for Griggs. He was here just a moment ago.
"He's over there, commanding his troops. Planning how to get your heads," Renault's voice suddenly echoed from above them, as if he had been eavesdropping from the start.
"What!? Over there!?" Yegor couldn't believe it and stood up to look across.
Sure enough! Griggs, who had been wearing a military coat just moments ago, had now changed into combat gear, holding a gun and unhesitatingly commanding his men to shoot at their position.
"Do we need to keep that guy alive? If not, we can just kill him."
While Yegor was peering out, Renault pointed forward and asked Carter.
"If possible, there's no need for the others. Feel free to act."
Peeking out from behind cover, Carter glanced around and then sat back, breathing a sigh of relief as he spoke to Renault.
"HK416, let's go! Leave the leader alive! Take out the rest!"
As Renault spoke, he charged out along the ground!
Before Renault could draw his gun and open fire to take out the enemy's firepower, HK416 had already launched the attack, her bullets shattering the helmets of the guys aiming at Renault, one after another!
"Beautiful!"
Hearing Renault's words, HK416 accelerated, almost every shot taking out one of the guys wearing KCCO combat uniforms.
These guys' combat uniforms had much weaker protection than the protective suits they wore when they went to the Red Zone.
Even without Renault's modified weapons, HK416's imprinted weapons alone could shatter their helmets with two or three shots.
Even before Yegor, who was behind cover, could ask Renault for a weapon, the battle was almost over.
Griggs, standing among the crowd, still seemed a bit dazed and hadn't fully grasped what was happening.
He looked around in confusion at his fallen men.
However, SPAS-12 wasn't going to wait for this guy to figure it out.
She charged up while he was still stunned, slapped the armored plate on his helmet, and instantly knocked him dizzy, causing him to collapse on the ground. Renault then tied him up with a rope.
After tying up this guy, Renault didn't immediately take him back.
Instead, he ran a few steps, dashed to the nearby helicopter about to take off, and yanked the pilot out.
"Come down! This thing belongs to me now!" Renault said this, glanced into the cockpit, found it empty, clean, and almost new-looking.
Obviously, this tiltrotor aircraft had just rolled off the assembly line not long ago, and it might even have been just acquired by these guys.
Seeing Renault and the others easily take out these unidentified individuals who were completely like 'roadblocks' to them, Gentiane, who was about to praise Renault, couldn't help but shake her head at Renault's actions...
This guy was a legitimate security contractor!?
"This guy belongs to you, the aircraft belongs to me now. Any objections to this deal?"
Thinking this, Gentiane saw Renault carrying Griggs back with a smile, tossing him in front of Carter, and pointing to the helicopter behind him.
"Uh, is Commander Renault always... so... forceful?"
Seeing the critical situation resolved here, Gentiane, who had just returned with the buyers who had just run away, asked MP40, who was dragging Alexander.
"Well, more or less, we don't really see any problems with it."
After all, the commander only used this tone when talking to outsiders. He was usually very easy to talk to at home.
"Sigh..."
Hearing MP40's response, Gentiane sighed and looked up at the sky. There was still some time before dark, but this exhibition had ended in a very fierce manner.
Next, would Griffin send someone to pick her up?
It wasn't that she couldn't bear to part with Renault, but what he said during these three days made her unable to look at the security contractor profession in the same light anymore.
It wasn't as inspiring as the propaganda slogan 'Shining Beacon in the Brand new World!' nor as simple as the introduction saying 'Just need to handle small groups of Sangvis Dolls'.
In the end, it was all about money for missions, and encountering all sorts of annoying mercenary contracts and the like?
