Chương 3: His Foxed Wife

When Olivia's gaze fell upon a wardrobe, she instinctively moved toward it, determined to ignore the unfamiliarity it presented compared to what she knew before.

The sheer beauty and enormity of the wardrobe struck Olivia, leaving her momentarily awestruck.

Halting in front of it, her attention was captured by the wardrobe's ornate handle, which Olivia grasped before pulling the doors open.

Anticipating an array of clothing, Olivia was instead confronted with yet another door.

Without hesitation, Olivia opened it as well.

'Could this be a secret passage?' the thought crossed her mind.

Secret passages were not foreign to Olivia; her line of work as Stone Cloud's premier assassin granted her familiarity with such covert routes.

These passages often led to concealed underground spaces where only the organization's highest echelons possessed knowledge of.

For individuals of significant stature, particularly those engaged in illicit activities or harboring dangerous secrets, these secret passages held immense value.

Designed to arouse no suspicion, they masqueraded as innocuous objects – mirrors, walls, paintings, floors, and more.

However, it marked the first time Olivia had encountered a secret passage disguised as a wardrobe.

Contrary to Olivia expectations, the second door led her into a small room adorned with neatly hung sets of clothing.

The room was illuminated by a ceiling light, offering a brighter ambiance.

'I shouldn't waste time gazing at these unfamiliar things. Regardless of my location, my priority is to distance myself and locate those foolish men who conspired to end my life. Although I feel weakened, there's no sign of the poison devouring me.'

Olivia's determination to escape was interrupted as she inadvertently swayed backward, her eyes catching sight of a large mirror positioned behind the array of peculiar clothes.

A perplexing sight awaited Olivia within the mirror – a half-naked young woman clad in the same peculiar attire she herself wore.

Strangely, Olivia's own reflection was absent.

Turning to inspect the space behind her, Olivia initially brushed off the lack of reflection as another oddity in her current surroundings.

However, when Olivia confirmed that no one stood behind her, her countenance grew cold.

Returning her gaze to the mirror, she realized that the unfamiliar figure staring back was, in fact, herself.

Testing her hypothesis, Olivia performed various movements, each of which was accurately replicated by her mirror image.

The unfamiliar person Olivia was observing in the mirror appeared to be herself.

"Transmigration," Olivia muttered slowly.

"Dumb," Olivia scolded herself, giving her head a light smack in annoyance.

"I can't believe I even entertained the thought that my reflection might not show up in the mirror," Olivia shook her head once again.

"Isn't it even worse to assume that I've been transmigrated?"

Olivia continued to gaze at the mirror, her eyes assessing her new appearance.

The body she now inhabited looked significantly different from her own.

Olivia, a woman of thirty, had seemingly transmigrated into a younger woman who appeared to be in her late teens.

Olivia had short black hair with fringe which was packed in a bun.

However, the body Olivia now inhabited boasted long, golden-brown hair that cascaded down her back.

The most striking feature was a pair of attractive, cat-like green eyes.

Releasing her previously bundled hair, Olivia let it fall freely to assess its length.

Olivia realized that it reached her waist.

The skin of this body was rather tanned and rough.

Thick eyebrows stretched across the forehead, giving an untamed appearance. A small nose and pale lips contrasted with the tanned complexion.

In essence, this body was not conventionally attractive.

Quite ugly to say.

"Did I die and my soul stole this body?" Even though her words sounded like a question, Olivia couldn't help but believe it to be true.

"What kind of glow did you see in a body like this, Olivia?" Olivia couldn't help but burst into hysterical laughter, as if her brain was on the brink of explosion.

Amid her laughter, Olivia felt her heart constrict, causing a brief discomfort in her breathing.

After a while, the pain subsided, and Olivia decided to sift through the collection of clothes.

For some inexplicable reason, Olivia found herself strangely content with being alive.

Throughout her life as an assassin, she had grown accustomed to the notion of her imminent demise.

Yet, the depth of the sorrow she felt at the idea of leaving everything behind caught her off guard.

As an assassin, she shouldn't have placed much value on her own life, and yet here she was, experiencing this odd attachment to it.

Taking a moment to ponder, Olivia then reached for different pieces of clothing from the array hanging above.

Curiously, all the clothes in that particular area tumbled down as she grabbed one.

Sighing, Olivia left the scattered garments on the floor and moved to a different section to examine the other unfamiliar outfits.

"This world is a peculiar surprise. Even the absurd can occasionally make sense," Olivia mused to herself, reminiscing about the man who had mistaken her for someone else.

Given her role as an assassin, Olivia often assumed different aliases for missions that required more subtlety than outright killing.

Olivia couldn't say for sure if she had ever used the name 'Jolene' before.

Thus, Olivia speculated that the man might have some connection to her past, triggering a vague familiarity.

Fragmented images flashed through Olivia's mind, hinting that she might have encountered the man at some point.

Yet Olivia discerned that it was the body of Jolene he recognized, not her true identity.

But the memory grew more vivid in Olivia mind, causing her to slap her forehead in vexation and embarrassment.

"No, this can't be possible!"

Olivia had heard the man's comments about her disrobing for the purpose of 'consummating' their marriage, but she hadn't imagined it to be this mortifying.

Some hours ago.

Jolene had previously held a bottle of liquor, tilting it back and downing its contents before laughing, "Why are you so attractive, young man?"

"Sebastian, or should I say, husband," the man reminded her for what seemed like the umpteenth time.

Sebastian cradled the young woman in his arms and then glanced at his secretary who stood behind him.

"Sean, try to find out where Miss Jolene went before you found her lying unconscious in the street."

"Understood, President Wang."

However, Sean hesitated before adding, "I have a feeling this might be related to the Yu family. When I brought her in, she kept mentioning how uninterested she was in Yu's Business."

Sebastian clenched his jaw before saying, "You can leave now."

Six months ago, Sebastian rescued Jolene, his childhood friend. Yet, Jolene didn't remember him from their shared past. Nor did she recall her drunken plea for him to marry her that night.

Accepting her proposal was a pragmatic move for Sebastian, who needed a wife to appease his mother. But his surprise had been overwhelming when he realized that she was the same girl he had known years ago.

After saving her from the hired men, Sebastian rushed her to the hospital.

While the doctor initially declared her dead, miraculously, Jolene awoke.

In that moment, Sebastian's elation knew no bounds; he had believed he'd lost her.

This thought had driven him nearly to madness.

He had taken charge of her medical care, arranging for eye surgery and providing meticulous attention to ensure her recovery. He even consented to her wish to experience the world outside his villa.

Given his demanding schedule, he had assigned someone else to accompany her. Sebastian, however, hadn't anticipated the guard allowing her to get so drunk that she became nearly lifeless.

As Sean left the room, leaving the two of them alone, Sebastian carefully laid the inebriated young woman on his bed.

This marked their first time sharing a room.

Seeing her condition, Sebastian realized he couldn't bear to let her out of his sight.

"Young man, hand me that drink again!" Jolene shouted as she felt the man guiding her to lie down on the bed.

"It's Sebastian or husband," he corrected her once more, tucking the duvet around her.

Jolene flung the cloth off herself and stood up, accidentally colliding with Sebastian who had moved to steady her.

With their faces suddenly close, Jolene grinned sheepishly, remarking, "Aren't I lucky to have such an attractive husband?"

Sebastian's expression remained impassive. "You act foolishly, yet you somehow managed to find your way to the Yu estate. Miss Jolene, is your amnesia still affecting you, or is this some kind of joke?"

Jolene let out a belch and then slowly wrapped her arms around Sebastian's neck, his own large arms holding her delicate waist to keep her steady.

Once again lifting her, Sebastian tried to place her back onto the bed. However, before he could, Jolene wound her legs around his waist and asked with a mischievous smile, "Are you truly my husband?"

Taken aback by her boldness, Sebastian was momentarily stunned. No woman had ever been so audacious as to physically cling to him in such an intimate manner.

Swallowing hard, he managed to respond, "Cease these childish antics, Miss Jolene. You're intoxicated."

Jolene eased herself away, gazing at his face with an unexpectedly serious expression that caught Sebastian off guard.

Her arms were still encircling his neck, and their faces were mere inches apart, as though a kiss were imminent.

Then, with a slight pout, Jolene queried, "Is this young man impotent?"
