Chương 12: Mysterious Voice
Once Hawks, Maya and Billy released an incredible amount of ki.
A powerful surge of energy surrounded their body.
"Now, let's focus on refining our own ki and check what techniques we could develop along the way." Hawks declared to his fellow disciples.
The three of them breathed deeper as they focus to certain areas of their body and distributed their refined ki to certain parts which they planned to execute something they wished to showcase.
"This is a bad idea! I am telling you guys! We will get in trouble if we do not get back soon." Rankuza kept whining and complaining while Hawks and the others tried to gather more refined ki.
"Shhhh! Why won't you let them focus? Stop being a wuss!" Shams reprimanded Rankuza.
Even though in appearance, Rankuza may look older than Shams. The adult and matured attitude of Shams is exuding naturally.
Rankuza could not believe that even the young child, Shams, is tolerating the deviant actions being exhibited by his fellow young disciples.
Though Shams could not help himself but feel curious to what he will witness from the trio.
So far, he has seen Billy exhibit super strength. While he has seen Maya exhibit super speed.
But this time a more surprising scene unfolded in front of Shams.
[1] Billy's case,
After some time, Billy decided to punch the ground and created a big hole.
Not just an ordinary hole but it created a huge hole that made him and the others fall in it for a few meters. Due to the level of energy released by Billy, some of the solid particles of the ground turned into dust.
[2] Maya's case,
Instead of falling from the hole that was created due to Billy's unbelievable strength, Maya floated and glided to a safer ground.
[3] Hawks' case,
While falling with Billy, a surge of energy was released from Hawks' palm and became a landing area for the two of them.
-oof-!
"BILLY! You should have informed us first before you punched the ground with such a level of energy. You idiot!" Hawks kept scolding Billy.
Shams could not help but get amused by what he was witnessing.
All his life, he felt weak and so unfortunate.
Given this opportunity, it will be great to learn from these younger ones and have the chance to get stronger.
'I will no longer standby and allow myself to become weak again. This time around with my second chance … I will be stronger than I used to be. If I was not able to protect my parents, this time I will make sure that I will have the ability to protect those I care about.' As Shams contemplated with his plans in the future and intention of getting stronger.
Suddenly a snake-like voice was calling for Shams.
< Ssss… Do you want to become stronger? Sss … >
Said by the voice.
At first, Shams ignored the voice and kept watching Hawks and Billy bicker around.
Thinking that it is just a figment of his imagination.
…
…
< Sss… Are you ignoring me? Sss …>
Said again by the voice.
…
…
He started to look around, left and right… Shams checked where the voice is coming from…
< Sss… Do you want to become stronger? Sss … >
"Rankuza, do you hear that?" Shams asked his fellow disciple.
"No, I do not hear anything. Why? What's wrong little Ryoku?" Rankuza's reply to little Shams.
"Oh, well! I thought I was hearing some silly voice." Shams casually said to Rankuza.
< Sss … You call my voice, silly? I thought you are interested of becoming stronger. I can offer you power that you cannot imagine! Sss … >
By the mention of attaining more power, it piqued Shams' interest.
'Okay, I am listening.' Shams finally entertaining the voice he has been hearing.
< Sss … Meet with me, so I can give you my offer… Sss >
'Where are you anyway? I do not see you!' further asked by Shams.
< Sss … Follow the ball of light and it will lead you to my location … Sss >
The enchanting voice instructed Shams.
As he heard the instruction of the voice, Shams looked around and saw a ball of light trying to point towards inside the forest.
The young boy in outer appearance thought carefully before responding to the voice once again,
'Hmmm… I was told by our master and senior disciples that within the forest lies dangerous beasts and mythical creatures that can possibly roam around. So, I prefer keeping my whole body intact. I refuse to become a prey of some dangerous beasts.' Shams stood firm on his ground and ignored the ball of light.

< Sss … You will not become a prey, I promise you! Sss… >
'Pfft! How sure are you? You are not the one with a young and tiny body that will venture within the dangerous forest.'
< Sss … the ball of light will repel any unnecessary encounter with other beasts. It will be your protection. Sss… >
Reassuringly pointed out by the mysterious voice.
'Hmmm… Still unconvinced sorry!
Dark forest festered with dangerous beasts + Untrustworthy voice = Disaster!'
A crack of frustration could be heard from the voice which is trying to convince Shams.
< Sss … So you will just literally let go of the opportunity of attaining more strength and power over a fear of uncertainty. You will remain weak and will become eventually a prey of someone stronger and more powerful than you… Then rot and be a worthless one… Sss… >
It hit like a bulls-eye when Shams heard the words of remaining weak and becoming a prey of someone stronger and more powerful.
Those words became a challenge for Shams, hitting his inner desire and desperation for becoming more powerful and stronger than ever.
Memories of being poor, days of suffering, dying in such tragic fate, and failing to protect his own parents, everything was flashing into his mind.
Shams clenched his fist and thought to himself, 'I already died once!'

…
"Hey, Billy! Hold on to me… We are going up!" after telling Billy, Hawks released a massive energy that formed into decent wings behind his back.
As he soared while Billy screamed from the sudden flight,
"Aaaahhhhh!!!" screamed by Billy while holding on tightly around Hawks' waistline.
Both Rankuza and Maya were amused at the scene of Hawks soaring so high then they approached him as Hawks' and Billy landed on the ground safely.
"Wow! That was so amazing Hawks! I did not know you can materialize your energy into wings. And focusing your inner ki in strengthening your body to make a stable and tough defense at the same time." Maya marveled at Hawks' amazing display of abilities.
Hawks basked in the moment of compliments and was satisfied with his own abilities.
Though there was something lacking that he wanted to hear…
"Where is Little Ryoku?" sudden query of Hawks.
All of them looked around and there was no sign of him.
"Oh, no! NOT AGAIN !!!! RYOKU!!" Hawks exclaimed.
