Next thing to come, Leah was yanked off Jack. His eyes snapped open to see Sharlene fling her cousin in mid-air with two hands, harshly into the pool with a splash. The whole furor gathered everyone's attention from young to older. Above the balcony from inside the indoor pool, Mr. and Mrs. Collin, their friends, and their family gaped below. Across the pool, Victoria has wide eyes. Jack felt embarrassed and acknowledged something was wrong with Sharlene.
"Sharlene, what is your deal!" Leah pokes her head above the water, yelling in anger.
Sharlene hissed while Leah climbed the ladder, "Right now you are!"
"You said there wasn't anything going on between you and Jack?" Leah said, dripping wet.
"There isn't!" Sharlene yelled and everyone was so quiet.
Which only made Jack feel more on the spot. Where's Kai when you need him, he mentally thought. Kai kept things mellow in his clan when it came to fighting. His leadership came with great wisdom to resolve matters peacefully, especially with the vampiresses.
Sharlene and Leah were both in his clan, but he wasn't here to handle the fight. Before it got out of hand, Jack pulled Sharlene to his body and Ivan grabbed Leah.
Leah yelled, fighting Ivan off her. "I don't see what your problem is if you aren't together!"
Jack struggled to keep Sharlene at bay as he found this mark on her neck. Now it suddenly made sense!
"Do you have to kiss him around me!" Sharlene snarled.
Just before they could get near each other to do any harm, Mr. Collin planted his feet between them and roared his authority over Kai's clan.
During Kai's absence, while he slept far over many millenniums, Mr. Collin took care of Kai's clan because they're part of the Coven.
With both his sons still gone for today, he took charge as the Alpha. "Now that's enough," Mr. Collin hissed and saw both vampiresses settled.
"Sharlene, you have to admit the truth. You can't hide this any longer, my dear," he sweetly said.
Many eyes were on them because they brought so much attention to themselves.
With teary eyes, Sharlene faced Jack and confided her secret that only a few knew, "You marked me."
Everyone at the pool heard her and was stunned.
Jack asked, "Why didn't you tell me?"
Sharlene replied with a few tears dripping down her cheeks. "It's not fair for me to say you can't date when this mark was a mistake."
"It's not fair for me to hurt you like that. I have no right to date anymore," Jack corrected, he went to hug Sharlene, but she vanished before everyone's sight.
"Who knew about this?" Jack asks, frustrated when he looks at Rome, Ivan, Ace, Glenn, and their other friends. Yet, he saw, not even they knew.
"Kai only told me. Only Sharlene's mother, sister, and those vampiresses with her knew," Mr. Collin answered.
Jack closed his eyes, upset. He lastly looked at Victoria's broken eyes before he disappeared.

Nighttime fell and Jack hid from everyone. He went to this bar lurking for more prey to eat. Never in his recent years has he killed so many humans in one day. Every woman he dated within these past weeks he ate, including his favorite one Molly, was dead now.
There was no real reason to kill them but the fact it hurt Sharlene gave him the justice to do it. He had to make things right for her sake as a true mate would.
More than anything, he had to prove himself worthy to Sharlene so he can truly care for her and their offspring. It's something he should've done long ago, but he was an idiot and backed off to thinking she'd come to him when the time came.
But learning about the mark, changed his mindset to marry her. Although, convincing her wasn't going to be easy. Jack knew unlike the Royal vampiresses, Sharlene could reject a proposal whereas a Royal vampiress has to marry the mate her father chooses between other Royals to unite Covens together like Ava and John had to do. Only a Royal vampire can reject the chosen Royal vampiress as Kai did with Samantha, Jack remembered.
As his eyes sneered to spot a familiar brunette with silver eyes, that he didn't suspect he'd run into. He got up and stealthily pursued her out of the bar.
Far behind, he crept and saw her tie her trench coat because it was cold.
Once she neared an alley. Jack soared and snatched the pretty vampiress.
He threw her to the wall and his fangs pointed ghastly as he talked. "You're going to pay for what you did to me and Sharlene!"
The vampiress grinned a smile that was the sexiest expression Jack has ever seen.
"Whatever do you mean, Jack?" She asked in this far sexier voice.
Jack realized something was wrong once she caressed his firm chest. Suddenly he found himself getting pushed back into the building behind him that second she touched her palm on him. Her body moved in a sexy stride from the way she worked her legs and hips like a model. Once his back hit the brick, she deeply kissed his mouth with nothing more than taunting him.
Jack realized now he underestimated her. Seductively, her lips peeled away and Jack was practically breathless to feel her breath on his face.
"You only have yourself to blame," she told him in a hotter whisper.
Then she stepped two feet back and untied her trench coat to uncover her red tight top.
"I'm going to drink you dry!" Jack hissed when he fought hard not to play her game as she started to undo the buttons down her top.
Her eyes toy with him as she reveals her see-through laced bra and gloated. "I bet you never would have seen it coming that one vampiress could take down such a powerful advisor like you. I'm certain you didn't guess my second gift would be that I am a seductress. No, unmated vampires can resist me, unless you're in love."
She laughed sinisterly. "Such a pity that you love Sharlene like a friend but you aren't in love with her. I could only imagine how much this is hurting her right now."
"I'm going to hurt you!" Jack hissed as she groped her breasts before she moved to her hair. From the tip-top roots, she raked eight fingers in her hair. As her hands brushed over her head. Her hair turned blonde.
"Do you like blondes better," she heckled and repeated her actions, and changed her hair color into ginger. "Or maybe you'd prefer ginger like Sharlene's since you had such a wild night with her."
She laughed like this wicked witch. Jack felt tormented by her evil snare. No matter how hard he fought he couldn't take his eyes off her.
