Three days had passed since Lucian and Simon made Miriam's cottage their new home, and while the two of them did their best to remain incognito, it was impossible for them to completely evade the notice of their next door neighbors, especially the farmer's daughter, Amelia.
She was a year younger than the two, and had a very strong sense of curiosity. She had spotted Simon once, watering the little garden that Miriam had in her backyard, and ever since then she hadn't left them alone.
She constantly checked up on them every morning, and sometimes even came to say goodnight. While the boys appreciated her good nature and manners, they would like to be left alone. Interacting with anybody could jeopardize their safety, especially people like Amelia who were overly open to everybody, including strangers. But no matter how much they tried to ignore her, she just kept coming back.
