The referee for this match was from Fukurodani, their assistant coach and teacher advisor, Yoshio Konishi, tossed the coin in the air and waited for the captain to call it.
"Heads! HEY HEY HEY!" Bokuto yelled out.
Catching the coin and placing it in his hand, he read the result. "Heads! Fukurodani do you choose to receive or serve?"
"Serve!" Bokuto said.
With that, both teams got into position and readied themselves for the opening salvo.
On Aoba Johsai's court it held all the starters. They were going to go all out against Fukurodani.
Setter: Oikawa
Wing Spikers: Bodhi, Iwaizumi, Maki
Middle Blockers: Matsukawa, Kindaichi
Libero: Naoki
For the start of this match the back row would have Maki, Naoki, and Oikawa. Up front Bodhi, Iwaizumi, and Matsukawa were leading the charge.
Fukurodani also had similar sentiments when starting their main players.
Setter: Akaashi
Wing Spikers: Bokuto, Akinori, Sarukui
Middle Blockers: Tatsuki, Wataru
Libero: Haruki
To start their service, Akinori stood in place, alongside Haruki and Sarukui. Up front, you had a Top-5 ace in Japanese High School Volleyball alongside arguably the strongest Middle Blocker. And then the control tower, keeping a cool head and reigning in their wild ace. Bokuto, Tatsuki, and Akaashi would meet Seijo's vanguard head-on.
"*Fwee!* Service!" Yoshio announced blowing the whistle and signalling service.
Akinori known as the jack of all trades yet master of none at Fukurodani, unleashed a strong jump serve over towards Seijo's side.
The ball went careening over the net right into the awaiting arms of Naoki, who sent the ball up nicely towards where Oikawa was running from the back. Getting under it without any problem, Oikawa glanced over at their side and felt the pressure almost instantly and it caught him off guard.
Tatsuki's eyes were solely on the ball as it was cradled by Oikawa's hands. He had been warming up all day for this moment, his mind and body were one and without hesitation he followed the ball to its target.
Which wasn't Bodhi.
Iwaizumi having made his approach was ready to smash the ball onto Fukurodani's court, yet when he begun to swing, arms came up, unyielding and defiant. Tatsuki had read the set perfectly and completely shut down Iwaizumi, who didn't have enough time to change targets and the ball slammed into Tatsuki's arms and the ball made contact with the floor.
"Point! Fukurodani! Their serve!" Yoshio announced.
Tatsuki the ever-stoic giant remained unmoved by the power from Seijo's so called 'Ace'. And went back into position, not before locking eyes with Bodhi, he would wait as long as it took, all to kill his spikes.
Bodhi was unfazed by Tatsuki's glare, but he could feel his blood start pumping.
Akinori set up again and sent the ball over once more, this time away from the libero, but Maki wasn't one to fumble a jump serve at that level. A clean receive once more sent the ball towards Oikawa, who making his way up to the front again.
When Oikawa got the ball this time, the pressure once more returned but it didn't disturb him this time. Taking in his surroundings he decided to send it to Bodhi, wishing him luck against such a formidable player.
"Bodhi!" Oikawa yelled sending it his was at first tempo, to maybe catch the middle blocker off guard.
Here time seemed to slow as both sides witnessed a clash of titans. Tatsuki was already in position alongside Bokuto and Akaashi, ready to kill whatever Bodhi sent their way.
Bodhi too, saw that Tatsuki had already set up a three-man block, ready and waiting. But he couldn't stop now? Where's the fun in that!
Bodhi ploughed straight on through meeting the wall head-on as he leapt up high, intent on destroying this ball past Fukurodani's wall and Tatsuki.
Bodhi vaguely glanced to the left which didn't go unnoticed by Akaashi's observant eyes, who adjusted slightly covering more that way.
Tatsuki who saw Akaashi moved warned him, "No! Don't move!" but it was already too late.
Bodhi slammed his hand into the ball and it was like a cannon went off as he sent the ball through the space that barely opened up between Akaashi and Tatsuki's arms, the ball collided with Akaashi's arm and went out of play, quicker than any receivers could act.
"Point Seijo! 1-1!" Yoshio announced.
As Bodhi landed and stood back up, he came face to face with Tatsuki once more. "Hoho, can't be leaving me gaps like that Tattoo! You know better than that." He finished and turned around to head back to his position.
"A mistake that won't happen again. But next time, don't be a coward and face me head-on," Tatsuki said right back, stopping him in his tracks.
"…Oh yeah, this is gonna be a riot of a time!" Bodhi stated, his feral grin returning to his face. "Show me what you got, Tatsuki!"
Author Note:
Hello…Been a while huh? Well, do I have a story for you!
So, not that any of you know but last week I had my birthday, happy 23rd to me! But that isn't the important thing, what is, is that I got abducted…
No literally, my friends abducted me for a weeklong fishing trip up island where I live and it was so much fucking fun. But that meant I couldn't write anything and when I came back, I had basically been drinking for 7 straight days and nights and needed to recover. As you do.
That meant I probably would have just turned out a Shitty Chapter, with so many grammar and spelling mistakes that it wouldn't have been worthy of YOU my lovely readers. I also started up again on my YJ story for those of you who read that one and can expect a chapter tomorrow for that rewrite.
When its all said and done I do apologize for not sticking to the upload times I set, but this time it truly was out of my control.
Friday will be a much longer chapter than this one, but I knew I just had to get this one out there to set up for the next chapter.
Till then!
