Hello! Below is a semi-helpful, shameless author self "review" that is probably more accurately just my thoughts on the story. This great me has decided to try my hand at finally jotting down a story that has appeared in my dreams for many insomnia-cursed nights. The story follows Atlas, a seemingly average 'funny-guy' we all find in a friend-group, the ones that cheer others up when they're the ones that need it, and the type that laughs when others can't. (Much love to all of you funny-guy and gals out there, we love you. Thanks for your joy.). He's a college student, with big dreams and a bigger d-destiny, so look forward to it! Like the synopsis says, this world will change him, if he doesn't change it first. When first making the decision to write this story I had many debates with myself over whether or not to make this a mind-bender, or keep things simple. In the end, neither side won. There are twists, intricate backgrounds, circumstances, and lore that at least in my humble opinion, are very deep and you won't see coming, most of the time. Yet, the relative tone of the story I try to weigh more towards light, instead of stressful. It's just how the current Atlas (at the time of writing this) copes with the world, interprets stimuli, and his subconscious flight response. The circumstances regarding the prologue of the novel can safely be ignored, you lose a bit of info about something major or minor, depending on your focus, but it won't make the rest of the story difficult to understand. You can even read it later on if you want, and it will still be an active topic broached naturally in the future. This story is a Monster/NON-Human story, primarily, meaning it is for a majority of the story, from a creature/non-human point of view. There is a focus on evolution, advancement, and kingdom/faction building soon enough. Evolution is an extremely important school of thought not only for [Sellene] but also for the entire [Fold], please keep this in mind. Character's are important to me and I hope to flesh them all out, whether that's on an individual basis, or on a racial and lore basis. Hopefully, some of you will call me out for it when I don't. Sometimes though, characters deserve to be shafted, so we'll see, it depends on how they behave. Romance is something I love reading in books I get to, so I'd love to implement it myself, but I am currently still considering it. I don't want to force something artificial into my story and while I don't intend to write a romance-drama, I don't think a bunch of s*x scenes = or converts to actual romance. That's not romance, that's what you read next to paper towels. Maybe it's just an influence of my upbringing, but romance, to me, is much more difficult to properly convey, or at least much deeper than many other surface-level concepts. As a result, I'm thinking about it thoroughly. Lastly. This story is meant to be mainly light hearted in tone, and darker in concept, doing this is actually more difficult than it sounds, and I don't think it sounds easy. But, I'm not asking for understanding, instead, I'm telling you that I'm doing so, so that you know I'm actively learning and trying new forms of balancing Atlas 'funny-guy' traits and the darkness of the [Fold]. The prologue is pretty cool, at least now I kind wanna know why the two old guys hate each other, but I shall give you time to answer my questions mortal-san. I look forward to more chapters! Oh, and Shine is me, everyday.
