Seraphina had returned to the room shortly after breakfast, and now she was alone, the sunlight streaming through the pulled curtains and landing on her body.
Sitting cross-legged on the rug, she steadied her breathing, focusing inward as she entered a meditative state. A faint hum of energy coursed through her body, her aura pulsing in rhythm with her heartbeat as she worked on refining her control.
Training had become a ritual for Seraphina— she would never miss a day of meditation unless something happened. Each day brought its challenges, but she welcomed them and worked to get past them.
The Shinster Knight Training Method had proven to be a very useful guide and indisputable in her training, offering her a path to grow stronger despite her still-fragile frame.
Though she didn't yet fully understand its potential, she could feel it shaping her body and aura with each session.
Her life seed, the core of her knightly power, rested within her heart. It was still small and unassuming, it hadn't even properly taken shape yet, still being just a mess of aura gathered together, but she could feel it growing with each session.
This seed was the source of a knight's strength, and hers was still in its infancy— slowly growing as she practiced.
She began with basic breathing techniques, aligning her aura's flow with her breath. Her muscles tensed and relaxed in tandem with the steady rhythm of her movement, her bones and muscles aching as she moved, the aura condensing around her limbs and chest as she moved.
The Shinster method emphasized control and agility.
Following the diagrams in her training manual, she shifted her weight onto her hands, channeling aura into her arms to strengthen them. Though the motions were simple, the focus they required was intense. Her limbs trembled slightly as she maintained the flow, pushing her limits while taking care not to overexert herself.
By the time she finished her exercises, her body ached with exhaustion.
Sweat dampened her brow, but she allowed herself a small, satisfied smile— her progress was incremental but undeniable. She had reached a point where her movements felt natural, her aura responding with increasing precision.
After a quick meal and a moment to freshen up, she decided to explore her mental library once again, hoping that sufficient time had passed for her mental strain to heal.
The events of the previous night still lingered in her mind— the incomplete book, the merging words, and the searing pain that had forced her to stop.
She needed answers, and her library was the best place to find them— it was now noon, and the sun was hidden behind a row of clouds, leaving the place cool and calm.
Closing her eyes, she allowed her consciousness to slip into the mental space— and this time she wasn't rejected. The transition was seamless, the familiar rows of shelves stretching endlessly before her.
The faint glow of her violet eyes illuminated the spines of countless books, their titles shimmering softly as she moved passed them.
Her attention was immediately drawn to the serpent shelf.
The semi-completed book from the previous night sat prominently on the edge, its blank cover marked by faint traces of shifting text, it hadn't formed a name yet— whether it would form one naturally or she had to give it one— she wasn't certain.
Several of the rudimentary training manuals she had collected were still arranged neatly beside it, untouched by the fusion process— but others were gone; removed from this shelf and transferred to a normal shelf.
Curious, she opened one of the books that had moved, and found that the information inside them was still there— but they were no longer moving or shifting; just the normal rudimentary method she found before.
It seemed that after fusing once, she could no longer use them to do other fusions; perhaps it was pointless or perhaps the mental space had another limitation she didn't know of, but that was fine for now.
She was more interested in the book that had been created— so she took it off the shelf and began flipping through it.
Upon finishing the book, Seraphina was left in a silent surprise, completely stunned. The words and diagrams were still incomplete, but it couldn't be denied that it was a knight training method— it wasn't as fleshed out as the Shinster Method she had, but it was something that could be used.
At best it might be slow and offer very little aid, but that was more than nothing; most people had nothing— they could never train properly. But this book, made from just a few rudimentary methods used for examples, could provide a method to train in.
But it wasn't as good as good as her current method, leaving her a bit disappointed.
"Could I fuse it with the Shinster Method?"
In a moment of curiosity, she attempted to see if putting the incomplete method next to the Shinster Method would cause them to fuse— however, she was disappointed.
"Nothing."
She paused for a moment as she thought about the possibilities, there were various conclusions she came to— but the most likely one was simple.
"It isn't comparable so it can't fuse with it. Maybe they need to be similar level?"
Levels, from what Seraphina knew, knight training methods had different levels, but she didn't quite know them or how they worked.
Her private library at home had never provided detailed explanations— only surface-level mentions. However, one of the books from the Vesta Library might hold the answers.
She had added a ton of new books that she didn't have the time to go over quite yet because of the incident— amongst those many books she was sure some covered the levels, even if it was just a rough overview of them.
She decided to look around the books she had stored recently and see if she could find one; putting the incomplete book aside for now.
