Roy and Lynne appeared in the backyard of her crooked house. She scanned her surroundings and frowned, "Did it work? Nothing seems to have been changed…"
"Yes," said Roy, "it worked."
"How can you be so sure?"
"The feeling is the same when I returned to our timeline the previous time travels."
"Great, we are trusting your feelings now."
Roy just shook his head and began to walk away from her in the direction of the nearby town. She looked at his figure disappearing and sighed, then started running to catch up with him.
After 3 hours of constant walking, the two finally reached their destination. Roy booked a room in a local inn and collapsed on the floor. Lynne did the same, but on the bed instead.
"I don't feel my legs!" she muttered.
"What did you expect? Should I remind you that we were walking for 3 hours straight?" came Roy's voice, mixed with panting, from where he laid on the floor.
He lifted his back and sat down, looking at a wall clock above the room door. It was showing the time 6 pm.
"Let's rest," he said, " we'll have too much work tomorrow."
They slept to their heart's content. They took turns on the bed, though Lynne was reluctant to leave the thing that she called 'Heavenly Bed'. She suggested that the two of them sleep together on the bed, but Roy firmly refused.
The next day, they started their work. At about 12 pm, they saw a small group of people that were walking into a restaurant. There was one person that piqued their interest.
He was a clean shaved young man with long black hair. He was holding hands with a young woman that appeared to be around 18 years old. The two of them looked passionately at each other.
"Wow, you two really loved each other," whispered Lynne to Roy. He looked troubled on sight of his Ex-girlfriend. "Hey, it will be alright. Just go on with the act."
"We have a slight problem though," he said, frowning.
"What problem?" she looked back and forth between the two Roys, and said, "Ohhh, I see. You mean the beard? Yeah that's a problem. How come we didn't think of that?"
"How much money do we still have?"
Lynne checked her pockets and found nothing, "Ummm…"
Roy sank his face into his hands and sighed. They didn't have money to buy a razor blade, or go a barber to shave his beard. His hair hadn't grown too long since then. He just needed to cut it a bit.
"What do we do now?" she asked him. "Do we go back and steal more money?"
"For now," he said, "we don't need to steal the money. I will just wait for the past me to go to the toilet and then go to meet myself."
After an hour or so, they watched as the past Roy got up from his chair and headed towards the toilet. "It's about time!" said the future Roy.
"Try not to get compromised, alright?" said Lynne.
Roy nodded and headed towards the restaurant. He entered the place and headed towards the past Roy, who was still looking for the toilet. Only a few noticed him, and they just shot him a quick glance but didn't say anything.
Finally, he reached out to his past self and patted his shoulder, "Mr. Roy Leon I presume?"
The past Roy turned around and looked at the person in front of him, "Yes, and you are?"
"Oh have you forgot about me? Well it's a shame that you still don't know. Why don't you have a look at me, maybe you'll figure it out?"
All of this happened away from the eyes of Roy's friends. The restaurant was quite big, and it's very easy to hide from anyone if you want.
The past Roy looked at the future Roy for a while and said," You look familiar. But I don't remember where have I seen you."
The future Roy slapped his forehead and said, then looked back at him and said, "How come I was so naive back then?"
"Wait, what?"
"I am you, Roy, and you are me."
"I am… You are…"
"Yes, you didn't hear wrong, only that I am your future self. Look I need your help."
"Whoa whoa whoa, hold on," said the past Roy, "how can you be my future self? You'll have to prove it to me. Tell me one thing that happened with me that no one knows about it."
"Is that really necessary?"
"Yes."
"Okay then. Exactly a week ago, you were thinking about breaking up with your girlfriend, but your thoughts were interrupted by our Mom, who came and told you that you were going to the hospital. Am I right?"
"Hundred percent right. Man, this is amazing. How come I would get the chance to go back in time?"
"I promise to explain everything, but I need money."
"Why?"
"To shave and look like you. Something bad is going to happen and I need to be in my younger self, but I forgot about this tiny problem about my looks."
"Oh okay, take these," said the past Roy, handing over the money. "Will you return?"
"Yes. In about an hour from now, we will meet again here. Make some sort of excuse in front of your friends; tell them that you are not feeling well, we don't want them to feel suspicious. Understand?"
"What? I can't tell them that I met myself from the future?"
"No! You don't want to be a joke, do you?"
"No not really."
"Alright then, see you in an hour."
"Bye." With that, the future Roy went back to finding Lynne, found a barber shop, shaved, and bathed in their room. All of that was within the time of half an hour. The other half was spent drying his hair, in order not to arouse the suspicion of his old friends.
After seeing his old self standing up and walking to where they had been chatting earlier, he ran to meet him, trying his best not to be noticed by his old friends.
When the past Roy saw him, he made a thumbs up. "So," he said when the future Roy approached, "What's the plan?"
