The shocking scene left all the Reincarnators stunned. Even the Reincarnator leader, who had been sitting confidently on the throne, stood up in shock, staring at Leone.
The commander of the Imperial Guard, Ogre, was also horrified. He was immensely relieved that the orders had been to capture Leone alive. If he had tried to kill her, his fate would have been no better than the bald Reincarnator's.
Meanwhile, Honest, who had been silently observing from the sidelines, wore a strange smile, deep in thought.
Leone, expecting to feel pain, slowly opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was the bald man who had tried to kill her. Now, he was lying on the ground, his blood pooling around him, staining the floor red. The amount of blood was massive.
She also noticed the intense stares from the people around her, especially those on the throne. Their gazes were sharp, as if they could pierce her.
Leone looked around, utterly bewildered. She had been certain she was going to die, but the outcome was completely different from what she had imagined.
"What the hell is going on? Leone is just an ordinary kid," the long-haired female Reincarnator said, unable to hide her disbelief.
"The Lord God doesn't make mistakes. Something unexpected must have happened," the Reincarnator leader said firmly, showing his unwavering trust in the Lord God.
He wasn't the type to act recklessly, which is how he had survived several Reincarnation worlds.
He turned to the two Reincarnator rookies and, in a commanding tone, said, "You two, Leone and Sheele are yours. Go take care of them."
None of the other Reincarnators objected. They simply frowned, waiting to see what would happen next.
The male and female rookie Reincarnators swallowed nervously. The strange event with the bald Reincarnator had shaken them, but they didn't dare disobey their leader's orders. Holding onto a sliver of hope, they picked up their starting weapons from the Lord God's Dimension and cautiously approached Leone and Sheele.
The male Reincarnator moved ahead of his female counterpart and chose Sheele, hoping she wouldn't have the same mysterious power. The female Reincarnator, with no other choice, reluctantly approached Leone.
As she looked at Leone's innocent face, a flash of jealousy crossed the female Reincarnator's eyes, but it was quickly overshadowed by fear.
Both of them stared at Leone and Sheele, who were defenseless. The image of the bald Reincarnator's gruesome fate still fresh in their minds, neither had the courage to strike with their short swords.
"Well? What are you waiting for? Do it!" the Reincarnator leader snapped, his voice cold and impatient.
The harsh command made the two rookie Reincarnators flinch. They knew they couldn't delay any longer. If they hesitated, even if they didn't end up like the bald Reincarnator, the leader would surely kill them.
Taking a deep breath, their eyes filled with desperation as they fiercely thrust their short swords toward Leone and Sheele's chests.
But once again, something unexpected happened. Before their swords could even touch the fabric of Leone and Sheele's clothing, the same mysterious force that had killed the bald Reincarnator repelled the weapons at an even greater speed, piercing the rookies' bodies instead.
Fortunately for them, the swords missed their hearts, sparing them from instant death.
However, they were far from unharmed. The swords had pierced their stomachs, shredding their internal organs with the force of the impact.
Screams filled the air as blood and pieces of their entrails spilled from the gaping wounds in their abdomens and backs. The scene was gruesome.
With that, the two rookie Reincarnators were now as close to death as the bald one.
The remaining Reincarnators found it hard to accept. If all the fate-bearing children were like Leone and Sheele, how would they ever complete their mission?
Leone, having witnessed the entire spectacle, finally understood why she had been unharmed by the bald Reincarnator's attack. Still, she was just as confused as the Reincarnators. She had no idea why she suddenly had this strange power to counterattack.
Sheele, normally a bit slow to react, was also visibly surprised by what had happened.
Though Leone was filled with questions, she knew this was her chance to escape—or even to take revenge. She no longer just hated Ogre and the Imperial Guard for killing her friend; now, the Reincarnators who treated her life as a game were also her enemies.
Leone boldly walked over to Sheele, ignoring the onlookers, and whispered, "Hey, your name is Sheele, right?"
"Yes, that's right. What is it?" Sheele responded automatically, still dazed by the events.
"Since they can't hurt us, how about we turn the tables and take them out?" Leone's golden eyes gleamed with determination, bolstered by the strange counterattack power she now possessed.
"We could, but how? We're still tied up," Sheele pointed out, nodding toward her bound hands. They didn't have any tools to cut the ropes.
Trying to free themselves with just their hands would take too long, especially since the ropes were tied tightly.
"Hmm…" Leone frowned, thinking quickly. Suddenly, she spotted the two blood-stained short swords lying a few meters away, and her eyes lit up. "There are two swords over there! We just need to grab them."
Those swords had flown forward after piercing the rookie Reincarnators, landing a short distance from them.
Sheele nodded, and after exchanging a glance, the two girls dashed toward the short swords.
At that moment, the Reincarnators were still busy discussing how to deal with the mysterious counterforce surrounding Leone and Sheele, completely unaware of the girls' movements.
Ogre, too, had his attention focused on the Reincarnators, hoping they would find a way to kill Leone. He could see the hatred in her eyes and desperately wanted her dead. Being targeted by an enemy who couldn't be touched was a terrifying feeling.
Only Honest noticed the girls' actions, but he had no intention of warning the Reincarnators. Instead, a malicious grin spread across his face.
Of course, Eriri and her companions, hidden in the throne room, also noticed what Leone and Sheele were doing. They had heard every word of their whispered conversation.
"They're really planning to use those crappy short swords against the Reincarnators?" Arifureta couldn't help but comment with a smirk.
To someone of her level, it was obvious that those swords were basic iron weapons that would break easily. There was no way they could hurt Reincarnators with Level 2 or Level 3 strength—unless they could provoke the Reincarnators into attacking them.
"Sister, how about we give them a couple of imperial weapons?" Mine tugged on Eriri's skirt, her face full of anticipation.
"No need. Imperial weapons are too weak. I'll give them something stronger," Eriri said with a smile, patting Mine's head affectionately.
With a wave of her hand, Eriri altered the internal structure of the two short swords and added a little special feature.
On the outside, the swords still looked the same, covered in blood, but they had been transformed into powerful weapons capable of releasing energy slashes.
"Alright, now we've got a show to watch. We might not even have to do anything to finish this mission."
At that moment, Eriri's attention shifted slightly. The two rookie Reincarnators, whose organs had been destroyed by their own swords, were no longer screaming in agony. Instead, they had fallen silent, their lives finally coming to an end.
As for the bald Reincarnator, he was still clinging to life, barely conscious due to his higher strength. However, his teammates, preoccupied with the strange powers of Leone and Sheele, had forgotten to heal him.
Or perhaps they had simply given up on him, unwilling to waste precious healing items on someone they considered a lost cause.
At the moment of the rookie Reincarnators' deaths, the Lord God's Shards within their minds emerged, attempting to leave the world and find new targets.
However, as they tried to cross the boundaries of the universe, they found themselves blocked by a powerful force, unable to leave the planet, let alone the universe.
Seeing that the Lord God's Shards were trapped by her barrier, Eriri smiled in satisfaction. "Ladies, the fragments are out. Time to collect our rewards."
With a flick of her wrist, Eriri caught the two glowing white fragments in the air and brought them to her hand.
Watching the faintly glowing orbs spin above Eriri's palm, Arifureta and the others were filled with curiosity.
"So, these are the Lord God's Shards?"
Meanwhile, Akame, Kurome, and Cornelia, as well as the other young girls, stared in confusion. They couldn't see anything in Eriri's hand. Only chat group members and system hosts could perceive such entities.
"That's right. Just one of these fragments is worth ten million points," Eriri explained.
Her words made Rias, Fubuki, Mine, and Nodoka light up with excitement. Those points would be enough to push them to tier five.
However, none of them said anything about how the fragments should be divided.
As for Elena, Shinobu, and Arifureta, they remained calm. To them, ten million points was pocket change compared to the hundreds of millions they already possessed.
"There will be eight Lord God's Shards in total. Each of you can take one, and the remaining one can be shared among the other members of the chat group as a bonus," Eriri continued.
Just like how the Reincarnators had viewed Leone and the others as living sources of reincarnation points, Eriri and her group now saw the fragments in the Reincarnators' minds as huge caches of points.
Eriri then added, "These two fragments will go to Rias and Nodoka first."
No one objected to her arrangement; it was merely a matter of who would receive the fragments first.
Eriri handed the two fragments to Rias and Nodoka.
"You can use the chat group to retrieve them."
As soon as Eriri finished speaking, both Rias and Nodoka heard the same prompt from their systems:
[Ding! A Lord God's Shard has been detected. Would you like to retrieve it?]
Ecstatic, Rias and Nodoka both mentally responded at the same time: "Retrieve!"
[Ding! You have successfully retrieved the Lord God's Shard. 10 million points have been awarded.]
…
Meanwhile, Leone and Sheele quickly reached the two short swords that had been modified by Eriri. Each of them picked up one.
Without hesitation, they used the blades to cut through the ropes binding each other's hands.
As soon as they had freed themselves, they both looked at the short swords in surprise.
They never expected such ordinary-looking blades to be so sharp. It had taken almost no effort to cut through the ropes.
Satisfied with their new weapons, they prepared to launch a counterattack.
"Sheele, let's go!" Leone said, her eyes filled with determination as she flexed her stiff wrists.
Sheele nodded, gripping the short sword tightly in one hand as she rushed toward the Reincarnators beside the throne. Leone followed closely behind.
Their sudden movements caught the Reincarnators' attention. Seeing the two young girls charging at them with the short swords, the Reincarnators couldn't help but sneer.
Even the leader of the Reincarnators didn't react with alarm. They all believed that the two girls' attacks were futile. In their eyes, those poorly crafted short swords, which had originally belonged to the rookie Reincarnators, would never be able to break through their defenses.
