Great Sword Saint Jian Kang used to be the cultivation sect master of the Profound Heaven Sword Manor but he had since gone into hiding to fight the Evil Cultivation Palace in the shadows.

His daughter was of course the Sword Saintess Jian Yuluo and his grandson was Ji Hao. 

When the Evil Cultivation Palace had seized the Desolate Celestial Fraternity, half of the elders of the Profound Heaven Sword Manor had surrendered and had become turncoats instead.

The Great Immortal Rohan was placed in charge of the Eastern Regions of the Desolate Celestial Fraternity by the Evil Cultivation God and he had taken over the Profound Heaven Sword Manor to be used as his eastern base against the rebel cultivators.
