In the end, Beth didn't manage to escape her fate, the people she cared about were those elders with caring eyes. She wanted to make them proud too, but she wanted to do it on her own terms.

However, just before they could manage to sign the documents to send her off to a school she didn't want to attend, an accident occurred.

The two elders died in a car crash. There was nothing the doctors could do to save them as they were already too old, and their bodies didn't resist the impact. They died instantly.

Beth's world again became deranged. She felt the same as the day she escaped that awful nightmare in the Morrison's house. So lost and alone.
