Unlike usual, Elsie didn't say much as Cleo drove her car away from the parking lot. She cursed in her heart because with Cleo beside her like a bodyguard, Elsie couldn't move freely. Her movements seemed to be closely monitored by Cleo's two eyeballs, chaining her tightly so she wouldn't let her go again.
The radio in Cleo's car was playing very loudly. Elsie deliberately made the atmosphere between them less awkward. Elsie repeatedly changed the channel. From Doja Cat's "Woman", until finally, a small smile appeared on her lips when "Night of the Hunter" by her favorite band, Thirty Seconds to Mars, was playing on one channel.
"Can you change the song?" Cleo asked glancing at Elsie. "I don't like that kind of music, Elsie."
Elsie's response was a shrug, ignoring her twin sister's protests. Her head moved to the rhythm of the music, while in the driver's seat Cleo rolled her eyes in disgust. Her hand quickly pressed the radio button until another, a softer song played.
"The hell are you doing?" Elsie rolled her eyes disapprovingly.
"How can you mentally develop well if you hear songs like that every day?"
"I don't want another car-drive with you." Elsie's lips curled in annoyance. Her head turned to look at the line of trees along the road, leaning her elbow on the car window. Suddenly she remembered one thing, namely about the incident earlier in the last hour. Elsie turned to look at her twin sister; a look that signaled a serious question as well as surprise. "Do you know Jace Bryant?"
"Mmm?" Cleo turned quickly. "Just found out. Why?"
Elsie's eyebrows knit together. In her mind, various questions flashed like ghost images. Throughout her existence, Elsie had never found Cleo close to a hooligan. Although it can be said that Cleo is luckier because her ex-boyfriends are good boys. Yes, you can imagine what it was like. Of course, the closeness between her twin sister and a bad boy like Jace was something wrong.
"Isn't he a hooligan?" Elsie lowered her voice. "Well, you don't ever want to be around thugs."
"What? Jace? A hooligan? Not really. He is kind and the way he talks is really sweet."
Suddenly, Elsie's expression changed drastically. "Excuse me?"
"Hmm. He's a sweet boy." Cleo pulled the corners of her lips into a wide smile.
"You're drunk," Elsie squeaked listening to her twin sister's praise. Yet with her two eyes, she judged Jace's actions that were more delinquent than her. But Elsie will not continue her conversation about Cleo's closeness to Jace. Because she will monitor their closeness. Because Elsie didn't want her twin sister to fall into something wrong, as she had done before to make such a mess.
