"Geez, Elsie, where have you been?!" Jillian screamed in my ear as my four friends were back in the parking lot and into my car.
I chewed my gum, returning the skeptical gaze of Jillian who was already sitting in the seat next to me. "Avoiding Jace who caught me stealing the bracelet."
"Ah, we saw you being dragged away by him. He's very handsome wearing a T-shirt covered with a tartan shirt like that," said Hayley. A smile of admiration still crept from her lips which today were polished with pink gloss. The next second she changed her expression; her eyes glared at me. "You are so stupid Elsie, stealing while the owner is walking around the shop."
I stopped chewing gum and turned back to face Hayley.
"Jace is the owner of the shop?" I asked half condescendingly. His style is just like an upscale thug. But in reality, he was just a shop owner in one of the malls. Laughing scornfully, I drove my car away from the parking lot.
"Well," Isabelle took in a voice, "he's the owner of the mall, to be precise."
I almost choked on the gum I was eating at Isabelle's correction. So… the Bryant family is the owners of the mall who had such a big influence on Kensington's lifestyle? So unfair.
"Jace is a real tycoon he seems," I whispered barely audibly.
Unfortunately, Jillian heard the whisper and immediately answered enthusiastically. "Yes!!! His family is a superpower family. I'm not Hayley who likes to find and spread rumors, but I do know that the Bryants own companies in various countries."
There's no way the Bryants didn't know my family. Was that why Jace approached Cleopatra? Because he knew my family and was interested in my twin sister? I didn't dare jump to conclusions and guess if I don't know the truth.
"Listen..." Hayley whispered, starting to gossip. "He was in prison for being involved in the murder. But because he is rich, his family provided guarantees that set him free."
"Really?" Lea, who had been silent all this time, seemed interested. "But… he's handsome. Too bad."
Even Lea, who rarely took interest in men, complimented Jace on being handsome? I thought I'm the only one here who disagreed with my friends. Jace's face was more like an Incubus. Haha. Yes, the sex-crazed devil.
"I don't care if he's a criminal, mafia, gangster, and so on." Isabelle smiled at us full of interest. "I guess, I'm interested in making out with him."
"Back off, Bitch. He's mine," Hayley joked and hit Isabelle with her bag while laughing.
"Ha, keep dreaming. Just because you can get a guy with just one point, you can snatch Jace from me," Jillian added now. "He will be mine."
Hmm, you could say Isabelle was the most attractive of all of us. She's beautiful, sexy, fashionable, and all the men she passes by can get intoxicated. Her hair was red like flaming fire, cinnamon-colored irises that contrasted with her skin tone, small and wet lips, and her body was tall like a model. What did the girl not have? She was also pampered by her parents. Maybe because she was the only child of the Coleman family.
Not only that, Isabelle is someone who can't live without more than one man. Even though she's in a relationship with a member of the school's football team named Colin, she still accepts her various male friends on dates. And if I walk alone with her, all eyes are on her, thinking I'm just a breeze.
I, who had not paid attention to the jokes of my friends, gasped when Jillian tapped my thigh.
"So, are we going to the pub?"
"Of course." I flashed my mischievous smile to the others. Then, picking up speed towards the pub that was waiting for us with booming music and bottles of drinks. I spit my gum out the window, not caring where it landed.
Well, it turns out my gum stuck to the top of a bald man's head. I only realized when she shouted cursing at my car and got a response from my friends in the form of laughter.
