Artemis was at her apartment complex in record time and was closely followed by her three friends who all had decided to board Andrew's car.
Artemis boarded the elevator and reached her home which was on the highest floor of the apartment complex.
When she reached there, she saw her sister outside of their unit, knife in hand pointing at someone who was inside the unit.
"Oi! Detective Artemis Athens at the spot, with gun in hand! Throw your weapons away if you have any and hands in the air!" Artemis shouted.
"Artemis!!!" Athena shouted her sister's name in distress.
"Artemis had her gun in hand and rushed beside her sister only to see a dishevelled man. He was around Artemis's age suggesting by the way he looked. He had messy black hair, tan skin and chocolate brown eyes. He had a gun in hand and was pointing it straight at Athena.
"ATHENA!!! I'M ASKING YOU AGAIN!!! WHERE IS ALYSSA?!" the man shouted.
Artemis stared at the man in shock. "Do you mean Alyssa Monroe?" she asked, not lowering her gun but instead pointing it at his forehead instead.
"TELL ME WHERE SHE IS!!!" he shouted yet again.
"LOWER YOU DAMN GUN OR I'LL SHOOT!" Artemis shouted.
"TELL ME WHERE SHE IS FIRST, YOU CORRUPT DETECTIVE!" the man retorted.
"WHO YOU CALLING CORRUPT, YOU WORTHLESS PIECE OF SCUM?!" Daniella who had arrived before the other two men shouted as she shot near the man's feet, sending him into a frenzied jump.
"Sergeant Hartz! Lower your weapon before you lose your arm," Daniella threatened.
"Detective Arias and Lieutenant Hartz at the scene!" Andrew exclaimed. Both of them had their guns raised.
Seeing as he was cornered and outnumbered the man lowered his gun and placed it on the floor.
"Kick it over to us," Artemis ordered.
He gulped before kicking it over to the young detective. He then raised his hands up into the air as Daniella approached the man and swiftly cuffed his wrists.
Artemis had snatched the gun and pushed it into her back pocket. As soon as she did, she faced her younger sister angrily. Athena looked at her feet in annoyance, knowing full well what was to happen to her as soon as they all reached the police department.
Artemis dragged Athena by the arm into the elevator with her friends and the man trailing behind. Andrew swore that he has never seen Artemis as agitated as she was at that moment.
She was tapping her foot non-stop with irritation and disappointment clear on her face.
As soon as the small group reached the police department, Artemis rounded on Athena immediately.
"Who is that guy?!" she shouted.
Hearing Artemis shout, all the new recruits who were stationed in the lobby to manage taking reports flinched, some even immediately hid under their desks out of fear of the young detective's soon to come gigantic outburst.
"HE HAD YOU AT GUNPOINT!!! AT GUN POINT, ATHENA! AND ALL YOU DO IS TEXT ME!!! ALL YPU FREAKING DO IS TEXT ME!!! WHAT WOULD I DO IF HE HAD SHOT YOU, YOU DUMB LITTLE TEENAGER?!" Artemis shouted at her sister, her rage boiling over.
The waist length black haired, pale skinned and emerald eyed girl looked away from the intense glare from her older sister.
"He's Alyssa's boyfriend. They've been secretly dating for months now. I found out about them a week ago. Alyssa told me last night that she was about to meet up with him this morning in the most back parts of the local library," Athena started the story.
"Then, why did he come to you?" Artemis asked, now very interested in the story as the authorities and the parents of the victim were the only one's to know about the said girl, Alyssa Monroe's murder that happened at the library near the most back parts.
"Detective Athens, suspect is positive for drugs and alcohol," a random officer announced.
Artemis and Andrew shared a look before nodding to each other. Both had silently agreed to investigate Athena before investigating the suspect.
"Well... He came to me scared and distressed. He was shouting and pleading me to tell him where Alyssa was. When I told him that I didn't know and that she was supposed to be at the library waiting for him, he bursted and told me that there were authorities all over the library and that there was a murder there.
I was shocked, I didn't really know about the murder that happened there. He said that he saw you there and was starting to grow agitated and aggressive.
He threw the glasses and plates onto the floor, shattering them and he began shouting threats and then he pulled out a gun from his back pocket.
He didn't really reek of alcohol, so I didn't suspect that he was drunk. He didn't really slur his words either when he spoke as you could see when you were encountering him.
That's when I quickly texted you cause that was all that I could do at the moment. I managed to grab a knife before running out of the house to keep a safe distance between us.
That's when you all arrived just in time to handle the situation," Athena finished her story.
"Athena? How long exactly has Alyssa been dating that phycho?" Artemis asked.
"Urm... roughly three months?" Athena answered uncertainly.
"That'll be enough, Athena. Yo, Johnson, get my sister some food and hot chocolate to heat her up, this place is freezing as ever! Ella, Danny? You two observe the interrogation. Andrew? What are you planning to do?" Artemis started firing out orders.
"I'll observe. You can manage a phycho," Andrew said.
"Fine by me, let's go," Artemis answered before walking in the direction of the interrogation room.
The man sat in one of the plastic chairs the room. His hands were handcuffed and he looked as defeated as ever. Distress and agitation were the clearest emotions Artemis detected in his eyes.
"Hello, sir, I'm Detective Artemis Nemesis Athens and I'll be the person interrogating you today," Artemis greeted the man as soon as she entered the room.
"Artemis---" the man started and was cut off harshly by the young detective.
"I apologize, sir for cutting off your sentence but please don't call me by first name as I don't know you and you don't know me. Keep it professional. Preferably, I'd rather you refer to me as Detective Athens rather than Ms. Athens," Artemis said with venom drilling from every single word.
"I apologize then, Detective Athens," he apologized, not feeling even the slightest sorry and it bled through into his tone when he spoke as well.
"State your name and age," Artemis started.
"My name is Eric Jones. I'm 27," the man, Eric, answered.
"When I arrived there, you were demanding my sister, Athena Hebe Athens, to tell you where her friend, Alyssa Monroe was. What is your relation with Alyssa Monroe and why are you looking for her?" Artemis satrted to pry.
Eric's face morphed into one of fear and shock. He really didn't want to answer her questions knowing full well that the young detective was already itching to throw him into jail as soon as she saw him having his gun pointed at her sister.
"Alyssa is my girlfriend. We've been dating for 3 months and 3 weeks now. Yes, I keep count. We agreed last night to meet up at the most back parts of inside the local library this morning. When I got there, all I saw were a pack of people and the authorities swarming the place.
I just had my full of my favourite drugs and drinks. I decided to go and meet Athena, thinking that Alyssa might've gone there. Alyssa wasn't there. I asked Athena to tell me where Alyssa was. Athena said that she didn't know. She's lying. I know she is.
Athena always knows where Alyssa is. There's never a time in which Athena hasn't known where her best friend is. I decided to use force.
She somehow contacted you, the rest is history and now here we are," Eric explained.
"You do know that Alyssa is a minor ad that you are way over her age? Then, why did you date her knowing full well that if you two got caught you could've been thrown into jail on the spot?" Artemis pressed.
"I like her. She's wild and knows how to enjoy life. She's willing to give herself to me whenever I want. She's just the toy I needed to play with after a good amount of drugs and drinks," Eric replied.
Artemis wanted to slap the man opposite her but she controlled herself knowing full well that she needed to pry information first.
"Why did you two agree to meet up at the local library and at what time were the two of you supposed to meet?" Artemis asked.
"Alyssa has an important exam coming up next week. She said that if we met up at the library, her parents wouldn't suspect anything at all as she always visited the library before exams.
We agreed to meet at 6:00AM. I was little later than usual to arrive since I had to go and get my junk on the other side of the library. When I got there the place was already packed with you guys and the public," Eric answered.
"I see..." Artemis trailed off trying to connect the information and dots in her head together.
"Detective Athens before you throw me into jail, please just answer one question from me," Eric requested.
"Sure, shoot," Artemis said.
"Where is Alyssa now?" he asked.
"She's in a better place now," Artemis answered.
Two officers entered and took Eric away at the wave of dismissal of her hand.
Artemis exited right behind the. asn watched Eric was brought away to rot in a jail cell.
