Celine's POV
Jake and I are both denying them of what belongs to them because of our selfishness,but I blame the moon goddess for pairing us together. This thing wasn't going to work. My father and the pack members whose blood was shed would never have peace if I had anything to do with him.
"Are you sure she's still coming?" I was feeling sleepy already. It was past 10 and Anabelle hadn't shown up.
She had called in that she wanted a chocolate cake baked not ordered.
"I'm not sure either, I'll just refrigerate it in case." Nicholas took the cake.
"You should go to bed now, thank you." He said.
"Good night Nicholas." I yawned.
"Nightie Celine." He replied.
"What am I doing here?" I whispered I had gone to the Alpha's floor instead of my room.
"Oh come on." I facepalmed myself and headed back.
"It won't be bad if you can just check on him." Rose said.
"Anabelle will do that when she gets here." I replied and kept going.
"You saw how he was this morning,what if it has grown worse." Rose was worried.
I thought about it for a moment and went to his room,I opened the door sneakily and entered. I didn't want to wake others up.
The light was dim and I could still clearly see one of the perks of being a werewolf. He was still in the same position I left him this morning.I tiptoed to his side, drew the bed stool quietly and sat. His skin was back in color and his face was back to its shape.
"I'm not supposed to be here,but you know Rose kept whining for me to come." I used my hands to smoothen his hair.
"She does care about you and your wolf." I trailed his nose, how could someone have a facial structure as perfect as this.
If there was no indifferent amongst us,I would have been boasting about how perfect my mate was.
"Why did you do that?" I wished he could just explain why he killed my father but he was fast asleep.
"That single step you took caused me to be miserable,I practically spent my days in fear and in hatred." My voice was breaking.
"The moon goddess must be playing a prank on us right?" A tear escaped and dropped on his lip.
"I'm sorry,silly me what I wanted to do was to come check on you and leave now I'm crying." I cleaned his lips with my finger.
"Can't you not choose Anabelle as your Luna?" It was more like I was asking myself.
"Don't get it twisted, I'm not saying you should choose me in fact I can never let you claim me, can't you look for someone who really cares about you and not the position." A knock on the door stopped me from continuing.
I stood up and went closer to the door.
"Jake are you in?" It was Anabelle!
"Oh my,it would be a disaster if she sees me here." Jake was still sleeping. He would get angry if he saw me here.
"Can you let me in please?" She knocked again.
I needed to leave before Jake woke or before Anabelle came in,this is bad I shouldn't have come here.
"I'm sorry for how my father treated you,he just wanted what's best for us." She twisted the door knob again.
Jake was really going to wake up this time,I bit my finger and was pacing around the room.
"If you won't let me in, I'll let myself in." She called and I heard a jungling of keys.
What the heck no one told me she had spare keys to his room!
Think Celine Think Celine!
"Celine the window!" Rose called.
"What!" I looked at the window which was wide open, Jake's floor was very high.
"I could die!" I told Rose.
"No silly , you'll shift." She retorted.
"No, what if they see you!"
"I can't have them seeing you!" No one was going to see Rose,the last time she was seen I almost died.
"Found it!" Anabelle said from outside.
"Do you have any options for escaping, I'll be fine Celine." Rose pleaded.
I superspeed to the window. The height scared me but I embraced myself. I was doing it without Rose.
"Let's do this." Rose giggled.
"No, I'm not shifting!" I did a mental calculation of how I should land and jumped. I could hear Anabelle screaming Jake's name when she entered.
"It would take a couple of days for it to heal and the bones were broken really badly." Gaius the pack doctor informed him.
My mental calculation of flight was wrong. When I jumped I landed hard on my feet and broke my legs. If I wasn't a werewolf I wouldn't be able to walk again in my life.
"Here are some pain relief meds to make sure you're consistent with it." He handed the drugs to me and turned his office chair back to the monitor.
"Thank you." I smiled at him. He was a bit older, maybe in his late thirties.
"You sure do cause trouble a lot." Gaius said.
"What?" I was confused.
"The other day,you passed out. The Alpha had to stay with you overnight." He answered.
"Me?" I pointed at myself.
'`Are you sure you aren't mistaken?'
"I'm not, Lady Chloe was also here when you were rushed in. Who brought you this time?"
"Scott." I answered.
"You mean Beta Scott?" He asked.
"Yes."
So the doctor who had treated me that day was Gaius and Jake had stayed with me overnight. Then why didn't he tell me I would have thanked him.
"So you're saying Alpha Jake stayed with
me throughout the night?" I asked Gaius.
"Yes."
"And that brings me to my question." He narrowed his eyes.
"What question?"
"What's your relationship with Lycan King Jake?"
