Celine's POV
"It seems you've made a couple of friends now?" Jake asked mockingly.
I was in his room vacuuming the floor when he spoke up. I ignored him because I wanted my day to start well and end well. I moved to the huge king side bed to change the duvet.
"Cat got your tongue?" He looked at me briefly before he continued with the tie he was knotting.
"I don't have friends." I answered and continued with what I was doing.
I wanted to help him knot his tie but I refused because it was something I did for my Dad almost every day then.
"Really you are one but a liar." He scoffed.
And what was he even talking about friends? Was he annoyed that I might tell Chloe about us being mates?
I went closer to him and snatched the tie from him and did the knotting.I was also shocked at my boldness.
"What are you doing?" He was perplexed.
"You're doing it the wrong way." I stated.
I was standing so close to him that I could feel his breath on me which stirred my wolf. I was affected by him and it was a sad fact.
"I'm done and that's how you knot a tie." I showed him and went back to removing the duvet.
"How come you know how to knot a tie?" He looked at the mirror to see how good it was.
"Shouldn't it be a normal thing?" The duvet was thick and heavy.
"No… considering the fact that you were a slave?" He paused knowing he reminded me of my previous state.
"Don't you have a summit to attend Alpha Jake." I said through gritted teeth.
"Ignoring the question, right?" He walked towards me and I shifted to the back,he kept walking till my back hit the wall.
"I just find it's easy to do,I don't know how." Beads of sweat started to form.
"Really?" He stepped away from me and removed the duvet with no stress and threw it at me.
"Jake the car is prepared." Steel walked in.
"Look who we have here." Steel waved at me.
"Hi." I smiled shyly.
"You know I've missed you." Steel said, earning a growl from Jake.
"Let's just go." Jake walked out of the room, steel followed suit and I went back to doing my chores.
"How does it taste?" Nicholas the pack chef asked me.
It was nighttime and we were preparing dinner. He wanted me to try out his chicken recipe.
"Yummy!" I gave him a thumbs up.
"Are you sure?" he was nervous.
"Only a person with abnormal taste buds will deny the fact that this is a delicious soup." I took another spoonful of soup.
"The other day I tried this recipe and I almost got killed.'' He looked up at the ceiling as he recalled the scenario.
"What happened?" I asked him as I took the lap of the chicken.
"Alpha had asked for something special for dinner Lady Chloe wasn't around to help me out,I was new around at that time not knowing the current situation of the pack…"
"What situation?' I asked him.
He looked left and right making sure we were the only ones in the kitchen.
"Okay you're making this weird." I smiled.
"That day was the death anniversary of the previous Alpha and Luna." He whispered.
"What?" I dropped the bone I was munching on.
"Yes and I didn't know that the previous Alpha didn't like chicken soup." He was remorseful.
"What happened to the Previous Alpha and Luna, Nicholas?" I don't know but I just felt the need to know more.
"We should probably get to serving now." He giggled nervously.
"Wait." I held his arm.
"Celine, we should go."
"Please I want to know, I'm also a member of this pack you know,I deserve to know." I showed him the pack mark and gave him an innocent look.
"Fine but you didn't hear it from me." He pulled the stool and sat down.
"Relax why are you being so uptight." I shook my head at his timidness.
"You might not know but it is one of the forbidden conversations here, engaging in it might make you lose your head on a platter." Nicholas explained and I could see where he was coming from.
"The Previous Alpha and Luna were Jake's biological parents. They were murdered 5 years ago by some certain people. Alpha Jake wasn't around then he was still in training…"
"I heard the whole pack was destabilized and rogues came in and attacked trying to take over. They used the death of the Alpha as an advantage, Alpha Jake came back and took over. It was a blood shed one that could never be forgotten. He denominated almost every pack not giving room to cowardice." Nicholas drank a glass of water when he was done explaining.
"So did he find out those who killed his parents?"
"Who were they?"
"As for that I don't know, that should be um what is it called classified information." With that Nicholas stood up and signaled for me to pull the trays.
I wondered who could have killed his parents and what made him into the cruel being he was.
"You do care about him." Rose whined.
"No, I don't." I countered.
Nicholas and I entered the dining hall. They were all seated except that there was a new face.
"It's good to have you here, Elder Sullivan." Jake greeted the man.
"I decided to come visit, it's been awhile since we have a father to child talk." The man replied.
Jake nodded and didn't say a word. I feel he didn't like the gut of this man.
"So what is it you want to talk about,is it about the pack matters?" Jake arched his brow.
I carefully placed the plate in front of Jake now wanting to get him angry.
"Of course not!" The man laughed.
"Then what else?" Jake sounded irritated.
"Your marriage…I came here to talk about your marriage with Anabelle." Sullivan said.
