66.66% The Legendary Daddy Merchant / Chapter 42: Paying Debts Before Dying

Chương 42: Paying Debts Before Dying

<System: Back when the User was dying, he has taken a loan to buy the 'One More Chance' card which is now the reason why User is still alive today>

"… Why can't I remember that?"

Brian knows he had been under Asti's spell to escape death, but specific memories pertaining to that have been lost for some reason. He truly believed that something did happen although not exactly to the point of being aware of why the System saved him. Or what situation made him loan a 1,000,000,000 Royal Coins.

"1,000,000,000 Royal coins is… 1,000,000,000,000 Gold Coins!!! Soliel King probably does not even a tenth of that amount!"

<System: Wish the User luck to pay his dues before dying!> The tone of the robotic voice does give any room for negotiation.

His good mood turned to sour before he slept for the day. Brian regretted checking the rewards of his quest today. He rather gets annoyed on a brand new day rather than a profitable day he had just this time.

"How can I even pay that amount?!"

<System: 2% of this Amazing System share in selling Specialty Products are directly deducted in the User's debt. Another way is buying anything in System's Item Shop will deduct User's debt by 50% of what the User has bought. And besides that, the User can decide whenever to deposit and pay for the debt... Just a reminder of what it would mean for not paying it completely before the deadline *Horror theme music*>

"I'm not asking literally, but thanks I guess…? And I'm paying a hundred times the amount just to pay 50% of it back? Where is the hell is the rest?!"

Silence... Brian never heard anything from the System after that. It may be his imagination, but Brian saw the face of a politician happily living a luxurious life.

The only thing he can be happy about completing this quest is the fact the thousand gold is still in his possession.

"There is still a free game in the Gacha tab, but I don't feel like doing it today." So Brian went to sleep with an annoyed face.

It took him until lunchtime of the next day to open the debt-ridden Item Shop he has.

...

"Paia is going to be three next month. What does my little angel want since father is rich?"

Both the father and daughter were celebrating in their own humble home. Brian really needed it after he woke up realizing he is still in a very deep debt.

It was just a simple yet delicious meal he learned cooking from Raine a while back. A light-hearted dish because later would be the celebration of Nova Initia for the incredible first week of opening.

While munching adorably on her little spoon, Paia replied, "I want Mother to celebrate with us."

"…" Now Brian regretted bringing that up.

Paia seems to have noticed his hesitation because right after she said that, she took back her words.

"I want a very big cake! As big as Father!"

"…Father is going to give you the biggest cake you will ever see! And as my advance gift, Paia will be wearing a beautiful dress today."

Without hesitation, Brian chose and bought a beautiful yellow dress reminiscing a design back on Earth. It cost him half of his total earnings for the week, but Brian does not care about it.

It was not because she mentioned her mother out of nowhere. Brian's goal has always been to give Paia the best life. He was happy that Paia was able to adjust and live a comfortable life in Soliel. But at the same time, Brian wants to spoil her a little bit a reason because he has never truly loved his daughter when he was still Bryan back on Earth.

Looking back, nothing really matters whether he went to hell to suffer for eternity or not. As long as Paia lives a happy life, he will not regret how he will live.

"Let's go back to our room, father placed your beautiful dress there."

"Yehey! I love you, Father!" The small girl dropped down slowly on the chair and run with little steps back to their bedroom.

"… I'll also find a way to provide you the motherly love every child should have."

Only Brian could hear his soft whispering promise. It was close to impossible meeting his wife once again and bringing back sense to her, but he was never the type to give up without trying.

What he can do now was let Paia feel loved in every way he can. And the Item Shop problem was only second in his priority.

And speaking of the Item Shop, he still has a free roll for the gacha according to his screen's notification.

"Are you able to wear the dress properly, or do you need Father's help?"

"Help!"

"Haha. Looks like my little angel was very excited."

Brian saw Paia was desperately finding the holes where her head would fit. He chuckled a little when he realized that Paia never saw a dress such as this one.

He taught her how to do the zippers while combing her with the Tranquility Brush. After a few minutes, Paia looks the best that she ever has been. She appears like a princess from the fairy tales that do not look too much of a noble.

"Paia looks very beautiful. I feel like father is going to be lucky today."

"Hehe~ Father should buy try lottery." She was giggling under her father's embrace.

"Lottery? Where did you learn that word?"

"I heard Sister Risa won an amazing thing in the lottery because of her luck."

Brian can only smile wryly knowing his daughter's education was more than he can imagine. Although he was very happy about the fact that it was going well, too well in fact. Maybe before the end of the year, which is three months from now, she will be as smart as twice her age.

"Maybe I should try the lottery."

Under his daughter's lucky charm, he opens the Item Shop once again. The type of Gacha game the shop has to offer was dozens of simply wrapped gift boxes inside a Gacha machine that he needs to pull to drop one.

Each roll ws priced at 100 Royal Coins each which is abnormally overpriced. Thankfully, he got a chance to roll one because it was included in unlocking the Item Shop feature.

"Should I ask Sister Risa where she did the lottery?"

"Father has a better way to do lottery with ourselves… Father has magic that can create new pretty things out of thin air. But Father's magic is random and needs Paia's luck to help father create beautiful things."

There was no single lie on that statement. Although it can be said it was not the whole truth.

"Woah! Father is amazing! But how does it work?"

"Kiss Father three times then close your eyes. After you count to ten, Father's magic will work."

Without questioning, Paia closed her eyes then started to count slowly like she was afraid her father's magic will not work because of her.

As she was doing that, Brian clicked the imaginary screen on the air. The tightly wrap box started to shake. Afterward, a single blue light came out of it.

<Congratulation. User has won Magic Alchemy Shop Permit>

'What is that?'

"Eight…Nine…Ten. Did Father magic work?" Paia opened her eyes excitedly.

"Yes, and look. Paia is really lucky and Father's magic created this beautiful hairpin."

A yellow hairpin with the shape of a butterfly showed up when Brian opened his palm. The cute hairpin fits perfectly for Paia's small head and her outfit for the day.

"It's beautiful!"

"Let Father put it on…"

It was obvious that the hairpin was not the Magic Alchemy Permit the congratulatory speech had told him he had gotten. The butterfly hairpin was a 10 gold item he bought in the Shop to swap with his supposed winning in the Gacha. He cannot tell his daughter the thing he got from his lottery was a paper he even does not know the purpose of.
