Chương 11: Touchdown

Touchdown. Zurich International Airport.

Su Mucheng woke up from her fitful sleep with a light yawn. She stretched, wincing when pain shot through her wounded arm. She looked around and saw everyone doing the same. The flight was long, so they were rising gingerly from their seats and stretching out.

"How's the pain?" The person beside her asked.

"It's fine. It's not so bad."

She had taken some pain relievers before leaving China and on the plane so the pain had reduced to a dull throb. Su Mucheng turned to look at Ye Xiu and taking in his appearance, she asked, "Did you sleep?"

"A bit."

"Hmmm...Okay. We'll be heading straight to the hotel now, right?"

"I guess so."

They both stood up and prepared to leave the aircraft.

"Mucheng, how are you?" Chu Yunxiu had come over to their seats to see how Su Mucheng was faring.

"Hehe, look at you. You still have sleep in your eyes." Su Mucheng didn't answer, instead poked fun at Chu Yunxiu. She looked like she didn't want to be woken up. Her hair was scattered and her eyes were puffy.

"Is that how you treat someone who is worried?" Chu Yunxiu said, rubbing her eyes. "Fine. Don't answer. I won't ask again."

"I'm very fine. Thank you for worrying." Su Mucheng smiled and gave Chu Yunxiu a hug. She knew that Yunxiu was very worried but trying not to show it.

Su Mucheng was also worried. She planned to visit a hospital immediately they arrived. She knew the injury was not serious but the thought that something may prevent her from playing in the tournament was festering in the back of her mind.

Trying to keep those thoughts out of her mind, she picked up her belongings and turned to Ye Xiu and Yunxiu. "Let's go! We're in Switzerland!"

"Switzerland!" Chu Yunxiu echoed. Ye Xiu shook his head but the excitement was contagious. That was the thought on everyone's mind. We're in Switzerland.

"The weather is.... good." Zhou Zekai said, when they had all left the plane.

"Yeah..." Lu Xuan was about to comment when he realized who spoke. "Hmm. So it's the weather that gets you talking."

"..."

Lu Xuan smiled but didn't tease anymore. "Yeah, it's not so different from home."

They were currently at the terminal, waiting to be transported to the hotels where they and other teams will be staying. It was afternoon and the weather was cool. The pros chatted excitedly about different things. The stadiums, the hotels, the languages and various other things.

The Chinese officials who accompanied them on the trip stood to one side, discussing among themselves and observing the pros. Looking at them now, one could hardly tell that these were Gods who stood atop the Glory world. They looked like kids on a school trip.

Their conversations were interrupted by the arrival of the coach that would be taking them to the hotels. The bus was large, larger than the one the used to get to the airport and it looked more luxurious too. It was also had the Chinese flag branded on both sides of it.

"Wow. Awesome, awesome, awesome. Look, look, the flag is here and there. It's our bus. Team China's bus." Huang Shaotian shouted.

They all rolled their eyes. We're not blind, okay? We can see. Thank you.

Entering into the bus, the first thing they noticed was the quality interior design.

"It's very luxurious." This was high praise. Most pro teams had their own buses that would transport them to and fro stadiums, either in their own city or in a nearby city. These buses would obviously not be lacking. They were well-cleaned and maintained. For the pros to make this comment, the bus was truly luxurious.

They settled down, sitting in more or less the same way as they were in the plane. After the luggage was loaded, the bus began to move. As the bus exited the airport, another was entering. It was identical to theirs except for the flag branded on the bus. It had three vertical stripes. Blue, white and red.

"What country is that?" One player asked.

"France." Yu Wenzhou answered.

"Ohh."

He remembered the flag from when they discussed the team back in city B. France was one of the best teams competing for the Cup and so a lot of their discussions had centered around them. Yu Wenzhou had also done his own personal research on the team because their playstyle was reminiscent of his own club team, Blue Rain. The opportunistic playstyle.

Majority of the Glory circle touts Denmark as the favourite to win the cup. Even the seeding has Denmark as number one and France as two. But Yu Wenzhou had a feeling that the French National team would be the final boss to be defeated if Team China wanted to win the Glory World Cup.

"The French team arrived later than us. How?" Fang Rui asked. The bus was empty and entering the airport so it was obvious that it came to pick the players up. The journey from France to Switzerland couldn't be that long. After all, the two countries were in the same continent.

"No idea." Wang Jiexi answered. He also felt it was strange but said no more.

The hotel were all the players and team officials would be staying was not too far from the airport. After an hour, they arrived.

It was a sight to behold. The evening sun glittered on the glass-paned twenty floors of the hotel main building. There were several other smaller buildings surrounding the main building, all glass-paned as well. In between all the buildings were well-kept lawns and interconnected walkways. The place was massive and looked like it would take a small village to run.

But then it was to be expected. 16 countries and over 200 players and the accompanying officials needed to be housed. It also looked like the security was not lacking; they had to pass security checks before they were allowed into through the gate.

As the bus approached the parking lot, one the accompanying officials stood up and explained. "The IEA has selected this hotel as the area where all the players and team officials will be staying. Each team has a floor and practice room assigned to them. There are also doctors and nurses available if any injury occurs."

They all nodded, a bit distractedly. They were still taking in the sights. The bus arrived and parked in one of the spaces in the parking lot. Everyone came down and looked round the lot. They could count 14 buses, including theirs, parked there.

"It seems two teams are still on their way."

"Yeah but the French team has already arrived."

"So one country has still not arrived."

"It should be Australia. They have the longest flight time."

A quick search of the parking lot revealed that it was indeed the Australian bus that was missing.

"Xinjie, you're right." Zhang Xinjie nodded and they all began to walk towards the main building.
