Chương 37: Manipulated

"Although I usually don't care, but I must warn you. It does not look like that assistant of yours has great intentions. Remain vigilant of her, okay?" At the end of the about eight hours dance lesson, Ms. Kim advised Chen Waan against Tuo Tuo.

"Thank you, teacher. I will keep that in mind. You said you have to go back to your country in a week, then our lessons?" Chen Waan was not very concerned about Tuo Tuo.

That lady could bully her a bit, but she could not do anything major to her. After all, she was hired by the director of the company himself. If something ended up happening to her, Wang Zenghao would not spare Tuo Tuo, and she would know the fact.

"Yeah, once I see your progress, I will decide," Kim Su Won wiped her sweat and drank some water. This girl was a difficult student but she was definitely hardworking. Ms. Kim was really satisfied with her new student.

"Your next trainer will come in this room only, so you can take a break," she said as she took off to report to Wang Zenghao about the girl's progress. She was so elated to have found someone to easily communicate with, that she talked in Korean with Chen Waan all the way. That way, no one, not even Tuo Tuo could eavesdrop on them.

Chen Waan finally sat down after doing hard labor for this much time. It was an enjoyable thing, sure, but she could not see herself doing it for a job. Right now, she was evaluating her life decisions. All she ever wanted to do was study more languages and translate. But it seemed like her dreams had taken some wrong turn somewhere.

She took out her snacks. After sweating it out for so long, she was famished. She was about to put the rice ball in her mouth when Tuo Tuo stormed inside.

"I must say, some good techniques you have got Ms. Chen. Did you already know about your trainer?" Tuo Tuo, who had been made to sit out with nothing to do but wait for this kid, was really enraged. She used to be one of the best agents for the artists of WhirlWind Entertainment. Once! Just once it happened that a famous artist went to the rival company due to her behavior, and it was like Wang Zenghao had completely blacklisted her. Now she had been assigned to this rebel. Could she not take even little bit of revenge?

"I must say too assistant Tuo Tuo, you have got really childish techniques. By making me the bad guy in front of the teacher, what did you get? Even if she had scolded me, how was it beneficial to you?" Chen Waan lazily ate her snacks while taking a jab at the assistant. Tuo Tuo gnashed her teeth. How dare this girl, who was below to even the trainees make fun of her like this?

"Actually, I had heard a bit about your situation from Wang Zibo. Don't you think you should focus on improving your behavior and making me more famous? What would you get making an enemy out of me?" Chen Waan tried to reason. She had originally mentioned 'eye for an eye' but this lady's schemes were so beneath her standard that she thought it better to give this lady a way out.

Tuo Tuo sneered. Who was this kid to tell her what to do and what not to do? How would she understand the peril she went through when she was doing odd tasks for the company despite being one of the best agents before? When everyone abandoned her and then made jokes at her expense? When even the junior most assistants pointed and laughed at her?

How would a child, who was under the protection of one of the most influential person in entertainment industry of China, would understand the pain of a peasant? Those sleepless nights, that locking herself in her house out of shame, only to come out when some work was assigned to her, how could this lass utter such nonsense?

And so, what was so wrong in taking petty revenges against someone who was favored by the very person who put her in this situation? She was going to make his heart ache and understand what kind of hell she went through with all the bullying from her juniors.

"I don't need any advices from a kid. You do your work and I will do mine," Tuo Tuo replied to her with contempt in her eyes.

'If you have beef with Wang Zenghao, why drag me in between?' Chen Waan rolled her eyes to herself.

"You are being too disrespectful! Who rolls their eyes at their elders? Don't forget, I am also your senior in this industry. I can make or break your career here," Tuo Tuo huffed. Seriously, what had she been reduced to, to be getting this kind of treatment? Unfortunately, she failed to see her own shortcomings.

Chen Waan was already very tired and she had another four to five hours to go through. She decided to not respond and focus on her eating. Now that she did not need to do any physical exercise, it was easier to eat at this point.

In the meantime, the singing instructor came in. She measured Chen Waan up and down and then signaled Tuo Tuo with her eyes. Chen Waan noticed this small interaction. She might have to talk to Wang Zibo about this if not the boss.

"So Ms. Chen, let's start by seeing your level. I have not seen any audition clips from you, did you use backdoor to enter the company?" the singing instructor, Feng Jie, smirked while hurling an insult.

Chen Waan rubbed her temples. Was one person not enough?

"Teacher, I will be very honest with you, just like I told Instructor Kim. I have no experience in singing at all. I did try out for school choir in my childhood but I was not selected then. So, all I do is sing in shower, if that makes sense to you," she shrugged her shoulders, dodging Feng Jie's earlier remark.

"Oh well. Let's see what you can do," Feng Jie responded seriously.

One thing Chen Waan knew about Wang Zenghao was that he would not hire wane characters as instructors. Those people were going to shape his company, so he had to employ best of the best. They were supposed to be serious people.

And how quickly this singing instructor changed her tone when it came to work confirmed her speculation. It was going to be easy to deal with the teachers. But that Tuo Tuo was a trouble.
