Chương 102: Into the Wolf's Den

"Charity… was it?" Mattheus murmured to himself.

"A lot of us used to belong to a certain orphanage or were abandoned by adults that couldn't afford to feed another mouth, sir. The orphanage itself was—well, considering recent investigations explained why some of the others went missing or came back… broken… it's not surprising a few of us ran away from that place."

Mattheus heard something rather alarming. "Are you saying that orphanage is associated with the society?"

Liam nodded, looking very solemn despite his youth. "It's one of the church-backed orphanages and the head nun sells some of the older kids to them. She isn't actually in the know though, and thinks she's just sending them off to be molested by rich men." The kid's lips pursed. "Basically a nun that was a madam and the older kids unknowing prostitutes. Probably would have been better if it had only been that rather than the weird rituals they were actually used for…"
