Chapter 13: Tricky
– Sett –
I'm more and more convinced that working with the PRT was the right choice; they've been good to me, and they can do the things that I can't. I couldn't have set up the teleportation nexus so fast, and the moment I told Alexandria about the moles Lisa warned me about, she jumped into action.
Lisa will get the protection she needs, this Coil guy will go down, the PRT will be more secure for it, and I'll get all the rolls! This is literally perfect for everyone who isn't called Coil.
Feat Achieved: 'Recruit' Lisa Wilbourn into the Wards (two rolls granted), ruin Coil's schemes for the PRT (two rolls granted)
Already, it pays off!
Alexandria took Lisa off to help identify the moles, leaving me feeling pretty good about a job well done. There's no shame in knowing that something is out of your league. I'm not the kind of guy to hunt down spies or deal with backdoors in a secure network, but Lexy is clearly up to the task.
Rolling: Rare Power, Junk Magic, Common Perk, Uncommon Perk
Not the best rolls, but I can work with them.
[Multi-limbed] - Rare Power
The user is able to replicate and sprout pieces of their body from the surface of any object or living thing. The user can manipulate said body parts remotely as if they were an extension of the user's own original limbs. Note that the user will feel any injury or strain on these body parts, though it won't do any actual damage to the user. Each replicated appendage is no different to that of the user's actual corresponding limbs, meaning they reflect their own physical strength. The body parts are bound to the surface they sprout from and cannot move from that spot. The user also needs to be able to see the object or what it looks like so that they can sprout their limbs on them effectively. This also gives the user the ability to multitask more efficiently and control all the limbs they create with relative ease.
A neat trick. I focus, and after a moment a new arm forms out of the wall and waves at me, giving me a thumbs up.
[Cheese Magic] - Junk Magic
Well, I mean, at least you'll never go hungry. With this, you are able to summon any kind of cheese right into your hand. You can shape it however you want, so you totally can make a statue of yourself made entirely out of cheddar.
…okay? I do like cheese, and I'm a good chef, so I do have a use for unlimited cheese.
[Race: Faunus] - Common Perk
At its core, Faunus are the same as humans; the only difference between them is the presence of one animal trait, which varies from Faunus to Faunus (from cat ears to a scorpion stinger). Faunus generally have better eyesight and can see in the dark, and some of them display certain characteristics that are aligned with their animal heritage.
I feel a mental toggle in my mind, and curiosity has always been one of my favourite words, so I trigger it. My eyes widen as I feel my horns and tail retract, losing my wings as my skin goes from a deep red to a paler colour, a pair of large dog ears growing on my head.
Ew, no, I don't like it, give me my fucking wings back. Having them for so long and then losing them just feels utterly wrong. I like my tail; I love my horns; give me them back right now.
Toggling it again, I take a deep breath and confirm that everything is where it should be. Okay, so I can get race changes. That's nice, never using that again.
[Race: Elf] - Uncommon Perk
Elves have enhanced senses and an unnatural grace that other races are hard-pressed to match, being known for their beauty.
A second toggle makes me pause before I disregard the words I thought not five seconds ago. Once more, I lose my horns, tail, and wings as my skin becomes far fairer, and my already-pointed ears grow longer as I gain a few inches in height. Meh, no horns, not interested.
Wait, can I give out Perks like I can powers?
Meh, fuck it, why not?
Nice. That gives me an idea, one that could be very useful in the long run, but for now, I will mentally undo the toggle again and become myself. This is what I want to be; I like being me; why would I want to change things?
Yeah, everyone who isn't a douchebag villain is happy, and that's a pretty good day.
– Lisa Wilbourne (Tattletale) –
This was complete and utter bullshit; this wasn't how things were supposed to go!
Doesn't care that you don't want to join the Wards. Has plans for you. Will make sure you get the maximum sentence for your crimes if you resist. Knows you broke the Unwritten Rules to discover the Empire cape's identities, will Birdcage you for it.
Her blood ran cold as she stared into the silent Alexandria, the bane of her fucking existence (right after that dumb devil bastard). All Sett had had to do was work with her; she'd give him the information he needed to damage the gangs, turn that absurd amount of power towards Coil, and she could have taken Coil's funds and made her new life far from the Bay.
She didn't want to be a hero; she could do so much better for herself away from the PRT.
"Do we have a deal?" Alexandria asked coldly, making Lisa glower at the unaffected cape. "I've been very fair with you, considering your crimes. The rest of the Undersiders could get away with a slap on the wrist, and they probably will when we collect them, but you? You aren't quite the victim you like to portray yourself as."
Lisa glanced over to the side, spotting the smartly-dressed woman with the fancy hat, who simply gave her a small, smug smile.
She is a far better Thinker than you. She is what makes Coil sleep with a nightlight. She knows you're trying to read her. Stop.
This just wasn't fair.
"Don't look so grim, Sarah, you'll be happy on Sett's team," the woman said, her tone unbearably smug as Lisa growled.
"I have some conditions, and it's Lisa. I don't use that name anymore," Lisa said darkly, the woman simply shrugging.
"Do you really think you're in a position to make demands?" Alexandria asked, making her smirk.
"I know what I'm worth; you want me to join up to keep that big, dumb bastard happy-" Lisa started, a gunshot making her freeze up as the woman with the hat pulled out a tinkertech pistol and shot once, striking the chair right between her legs.
"Do not insult Sett," the woman warned, and even Alexandria seemed surprised at the sudden violence as Lisa shuddered, seeing the look in the woman's eyes. She'd do it. "Name your terms."
Sees Sett as her son and plans to have you Mastered if you prove problematic for him. Already knows what you're going to ask.
She gulped, looking between the pair. It was becoming increasingly clear that Alexandria, the utter hardass, was the good cop in this pairing. Lisa cursed Sett in her head, but she could read the writing on the wall.
– Sett –
"Sett, allow me to reintroduce you to Insight, the newest Ward of Brockton Bay," Alexandria says as she returns with Lisa, who seems a little upset.
Lisa glares at me, but I just blink in confusion. Didn't she want protection?
"Hello, again! Is there something wrong?" I ask, but Alexandria shakes her head before Lisa can respond.
"No, Insight is just a little displeased by her recruitment contract; it's standard for former villains who are joining the Wards. She's responsible for some rather serious crimes, so she is on probation until she proves she can be trusted," Alexandria says smoothly, making me nod. That makes sense, so she's just going to be on the same contract as Shadow Stalker was until recently. "Insight will be helping us find and remove the traces of Coil's moles and backdoors in the PRT.
"Nice, welcome to the team!" I say with a smile. I think she thought I'd be easy to manipulate and isn't overly happy about how this went, but it really is for the best for everyone. Coil won't get her here, the corruption in the local PRT will be dealt with, and a villain will have his evil schemes ruined. Everyone wins in the end.
Feat Achieved: Become Lisa Wilbourne's Sworn Rival (one roll granted)
Well, that's a little overdramatic.
Rolling: Rare Power
[Geokinesis] - Rare Power
The earth moves at your command, launching rocks with great force or causing small, localised quakes around you. With experience, your control will become more precise and have a greater area of effect.
My eyes lose focus, my mind shifting to focus on the ground beneath the building we are in, my new power calling to me before I shrug it off.
"Another new power, Sett?" Alexandria asks, making me nod happily.
"I got the power to sprout limbs from walls and also Geokinesis; they're both pretty cool," I admit, giving her a wave as several hands sprout from the walls and wave in unison.
Lisa opens her mouth, shock on her face as she realises that I just got more powers.
"You're bullshit," Lisa finally decides, making me chuckle.
"Yup, but it's good bullshit," I agree, grinning.
Alexandria looks rather smug, giving Lisa a knowing look.
"Sorry to cut this short, but I want to ensure we get as many of the moles as possible before they realise they are in danger. You did very well to bring this to my attention, Sett," Alexandria says, giving me a proud smile.
I just return it happily, giving them a wave.
"Don't let me stop you. Have fun playing whack-a-mole," I joke, making Alexandria chuckle fondly as she gestures for Lisa to follow her. Lisa gives me one last dirty look as she is led away.
Humming to myself, I check the time and nod to myself. I have time to kill. Emma and Sophia are on their first public patrol, Alice and Violet have gone to Violet's room to listen to some music, and I don't want to butt into their bonding time. It's better for Emma to get some patrol time alone; I kinda overshadow people, and this is Emma's first actual patrol, so I don't want to steal her thunder.
Dennis is spending some time with his dad, Chris is on Console Duty, and Missy has gone home (been sent home because she's trying to put too many hours in). I don't really know the others, but I think I saw Carlos and Dean hanging out, and I don't want to go there because Dean doesn't like me. Oh well, you can't be friends with everyone.
Scratching my chin, I shrug and head back to my room with a skip to my step. I've got some time to kill, and I know a certain girl who owes me a practice date. Pulling out my phone, I message Vicky with a grin and get a response quickly.
– Victoria Dallon (Glory Girl) –
To be honest, she was half convinced that Sett wasn't going to waste his time with New Wave anymore. It wasn't fair on him, but Sett had rapidly grown into a household name. He wasn't that lost, confused Case 53 that had needed her help anymore and that made her a little sad. It was why she was so happy when she heard from him again.
Whistling, she gave him a once-over.
"Looking good, Sett," Vicky teased, making him snort.
"I should hope so; you bought and picked my outfit," Sett agreed with a chuckle. She gave him a warm smile, pleased to hear from him. "You're looking beautiful, Vicky," Sett complimented, making her beam as she looked over her little red dress. It was one of her more revealing dresses, reaching just past her mid-thigh but leaving her legs on display as she gave him a little spin. "So, you said you had a plan?"
"Yup, don't you worry, I've sorted everything out," Vicky said smugly, taking his arm. "You're our transport, but that shouldn't be a problem for someone with magic portals, right?"
"As long as you can get me a picture of where you want to go, I can get us there," Sett agreed, making her grin. She'd kinda missed the big guy over the past few days, and as she showed him the picture of the restaurant she had reserved (in his name to get a table despite the last minute timing), she decided she was gonna show the Hopebringer a great time.
– Later –
The issues started almost immediately because Sett's fame had shot past hers (though that wasn't an issue by itself). The problem was that everyone wanted a piece of Sett; it was like being out with a member of the Triumvirate mixed with Amy. Either they just wanted a photo and an autograph, which Sett was always happy to do (because Alexandria herself asked him to play nice with the public), or they wanted him to heal someone.
Still, she'd managed to extract him from his adoring fans and get them to their table… but then the next issue struck. This restaurant was the best in Brockton Bay, and its food just didn't compare to Sett's. It wasn't bad, not at all, but it was undeniably inferior to the stuff Sett could make in their kitchen.
Sett was too sweet to insult the food, but she could tell he wasn't impressed by Brockton Bay's only five-star restaurant. Still, her company made up for it as they talked about what she'd missed since he'd joined the Wards.
It was nice to hear that he was becoming friends with most of the Wards, aside from Dean, who was still being a prat. They had a private booth, and Sett put up a barrier that stopped anyone from listening in to their conversations as he admitted how his sex life was going at her prodding.
"I can't believe Amy had a threesome before me," Vicky whined jokingly, making Sett chuckle. "Maybe Haven has a point; the big, bad devil has completely corrupted my precious, grumpy sister. What a degenerate you've made our sweet Amy into-" Vicky tried, bursting into giggles. She loved Amy, but sweet was not the first word that came to mind when she tried to describe her.
"So, you've never had a threesome?" Sett asked, amused as Vicky shrugged.
"I wanted to try it, but Dean didn't like the idea of inviting another guy to join us, and the idiot was too paranoid that it was a trap when I suggested I bring another girl to join in," Vicky said, shrugging. "Which was a shame; Crystal was totally down for it."
"Crystal? That's Laserdream, right?" Sett asked, making her nod.
"Oh yeah, you still haven't met the Pelham side of New Wave, have you?" Vicky asked, making him shake his head. "I know they've been busy, but Aunt Sarah was around last night."
"I guess I've just been busy too; everything has been going crazy since Canberra," Sett admitted, making her laugh.
"You nearly killed an Endbringer. Well, Armsy did with your gun, and of course, things are going crazy. I nearly shat myself when I heard you went at all. Mom doesn't let us go anywhere near the Simurgh," Vicky explained, making him nod.
"I'm immune to Master powers, but even I wasn't thrilled about being that close to her. Leviathan and Behemoth just beat you to death, but the winged bitch?" Sett asked, making her nod in agreement. Death was a good outcome of being too close to the Simurgh.
The night continued, with nice (if not amazing) food and excellent company raising her spirits. To be honest, she had been in a grim mood since her latest and possibly final break-up with Dean, and it was nice to just take her mind off things.
– Fortuna (Contessa) –
Sett might be a Blindspot, but she had years of experience working around Blindspots from dealing with Eidolon. It meant that while she couldn't path her masterpiece directly, she was usually well aware of what was going on around him by pathing all the potential threats and looking for parts where the path became unreliable, meaning they had encountered Sett.
This was why the Yangban's capture squad died before they even managed to leave China; Sett didn't need that kind of aggression just yet. She knew that his power grew from conflict, so it was a balancing act. Sett wanted to grow, so letting some threats come for him was both for the good of the world and what Sett himself would want.
It was why she'd eventually decided not to kill Coil, because he could still be an asset for helping Sett grow stronger.
Sett was essentially her son, even if she didn't remember what she'd done to make him or why she did it. For the first time in all her long years, she was starting to feel maternal, which was why she was currently frowning.
She'd always followed the Path, but she didn't like what was about to happen. Maybe it was too soon? She could stop this; a single bullet in the right place would end this attempt on Sett's life… but no, she should have faith in her boy.
She'd make it up to him later, even if he'd never know she was involved to begin with. Sett needed conflict to grow; she needed to learn how his growth worked; this was going to be valuable data for Cauldron.
So why did she feel so bad?
– Victoria Dallon (Glory Girl) –
Excusing herself, she headed to the bathroom with a smile on her face. Honestly, Sett was a natural charmer. If this weren't just a practice date, she'd probably be taking him to bed afterwards… she might just be doing that anyway, having an itch that could use scratching and wanting to know what had blown Amy's mind.
Taking a moment to freshen up, she smiled into the mirror as she checked herself out. She'd seen Sett's eyes admiring what she was putting on display, but then that was precisely why she'd worn such a revealing dress.
Facing the mirror, she saw the door open and her alarm bells immediately went off as a feminine man with long, blonde hair walked into the room, his eyes locking onto her. Spinning around, she went to speak, but he beat her to the punch.
"Stay still; don't speak," the man said in a soft voice, a smile on his lips as her body froze up. Her mind raced as he smiled smugly at her. "I have to thank you, Miss Dallon. Here I was trying to work out how to lure the blasphemous bastard out into the open, and you did it for me."
Blasphemous? Haven? No, The Fallen. It had to be. She tried to struggle against his orders, but her body remained still, refusing to obey her instructions. The creepy man simply smiled, giving her a slow once-over as he admired her short dress. Somehow, she didn't find his gaze as flattering as Sett's.
"Do try to survive the coming fight; I'm sure someone of your standing will make wonderful breeding stock," he said, walking up to her. "But business before pleasure. We have a job to do. Don't worry, I've got us some reinforcements."
– Sett –
As I enjoy the ambience of this fancy restaurant and wait for Vicky to return, I immediately freeze up as my senses go wild. [Danger Sense] screams at me to move, making my eyes widen as I stand up in confusion, getting a lot of attention as I look around with a scowl.
Spinning around, trying to spot the threat, my eyes widen as I spot someone through the window. We have a nice view of the better part of the city from our booth, but now I'm starting to realise that this was a risk because it meant people could see us as well.
Standing on the top of a rooftop, a man in a top hat is staring right at me, but before I can react, I find myself standing somewhere else, blinking in confusion as I look around the street I'm suddenly on.
Danger Sense keeps screaming, so I dodge to the side as a car flies past the spot I was just in, moving far faster than anything that large has any right to. From the direction it shot from, I spot a man in black and red armour, making me growl.
What happened to Vicky? If these bastards have done anything to her, I'll tear them limb from fucking limb.
My dark thoughts are interrupted as I see a giant ball of flame flying towards me, hot enough to melt the buildings around it as it flies my way, but I'm not sticking around to test my fire resistance as I make a Gate on the ground and jump into it, closing it behind me.
– Francis Krouse (Trickster) –
Watching their target jump into a portal, he thrashed against the control of the master who had taken control of them and sent them after the fucking Hopebringer. The Travellers might be powerful, but he was hoping that Sett might be able to fix Noelle with his golden touch; being forced to attack him by that Fallen bastard was infuriating.
It was why he didn't even really mind as he realised where Sett had portalled to, the rapidly growing and clearly pissed-off demon appearing above him and dropping from the sky.
As he went to switch their positions again, he froze as he realised that he couldn't swap people anymore. Instead, he knew how to make the Gates that Sett used, but it was far too late, the momentary distraction costing him as Sett landed on him, slamming him into the floor of the rooftop, Sett hammering down dozens of blows on him as he screamed in pain, unable to fight off the demon that was quickly getting bigger and tougher.
Genesis tried to help him as her latest creation (an angel, styled on the Simugh on Valefor's demand) flew down and skewered Sett with its spear of light, but the beast of a man just let out a growl and ignored the spear lodged into his body to choke the life out of Krouse.
He felt his vision darken, Sett's clawed hands wrapped around his throat as he saw the anger in Sett's eyes, and just as he felt himself fall to darkness, he spotted Glory Girl slam into Sett and knock him off the rooftop, a distressed look on her face.
– Sett –
As Vicky tries to pummel me, I freeze. There's no way Vicky would actually attack me, and the look on her face tells me everything I need to know. The anger I was already feeling skyrockets as I watch my friend try to crush my skull, clearly mastered.
Danger Sense keeps screaming at me, but as I grab Vicky's fists and toss her away, a second ball of flame strikes my back, and a fucking manhole cover flies at me at the speed of sound, striking me in the head.
The weird angel thing tries to stab me again, and my first wound is still closing, thanks to [Regeneration], so I don't want to add a new hole in my chest, flying out of the way as we engage in an aerial battle.
I can see the fire user on the street, same with the guy sending shit flying at me at the speed of sound, but I don't have time to attack them while I'm warding off the Angel and Vicky.
Fortunately, I have a solution for this, getting ready as Vicky flies at me with malicious intent. I let her hit me, grabbing her in a tight bear hug as I cast Salvation, making us both glow with a golden hue.
"Sett, I'm so-" Vicky starts, but I pull us aside as the angel once more tries to skewer us.
"It's fine, you weren't yourself. Which one is the master?" I ask, making her shake her head.
"It's a weird-looking guy with long blonde hair, but I can't see him," Vicky growls, punching the angel in the face as the bitch tries to skewer me again.
I pause, wondering something as I dodge out of the way of another tiny sun, watching it melt the building it strikes. If Vicky was mastered, would these guys be as well?
The main danger is the girl throwing the miniature suns at me, and I focus as a dozen pairs of my arms burst from the ground beneath her, grabbing her legs as I use them as a relay to once more cast [Salvation], each hand glowing golden as she gasps.
To be sure, I cast [Root Bind] and overcharge it as dozens of thick roots grow and pull her to the ground, binding her until she is unable to move. I don't know if she's immune to her own flames, but she doesn't summon any more as my roots bind her to the street.
Vicky doesn't waste time trading blows with the angel, who is actually striking fast enough to get through her shield, but I use [Self-Sacrificing] and take any blow Vicky takes myself as I turn to the man.
– Luke Brito (Ballistic) –
Seeing Sett turn to him, he glanced to where Sundancer was bound to the ground. She could easily burn her way out of those roots, but she wasn't fighting anymore, and now the girl he didn't know was fighting Genesis' latest summon.
Sett could free them from the master's effect, but the bastard's words in his head meant that he had to keep trying to kill Sett. Tossing out his ball bearings, he sent them up into the air as they all flew towards Sett at incredible speed, but Sett wasn't stupid. Sett shifted, taking the place of Genesis' summon as his ball bearings tore through the angel, badly hurting the summon; he'd taken Trickster's power…
Sett used Trickster's trick again, and Ballistic was suddenly faced with a problem as he took the girl in the tiny red dress's place. She had been fighting the angel high in the sky, and he couldn't fly.
Plummeting to the ground, Sett flew towards him and caught him. Sett immediately used that golden light again, Luke's mind clearing as his actions became his own again.
"The angel is just a summon; Genesis is in that alleyway, asleep," Luke said, making Sett blink before he nodded. "I don't know where Valefor went; that's the master."
"Got it. I'll free your friend. Don't worry," Sett promised with a smile, which looked wrong on his increasingly demonic face. Sett flew towards the alleyway he'd pointed out, dropping Luke as they got close to the ground and flying straight to Jess as she slept in her wheelchair. The angel flew towards them, despite how badly hurt it was, spear in hand.
Grabbing her, he engulfed her in golden light as the angel froze and then faded as Jess awoke with a gasp, looking fearful as she looked up at Sett.
"It's okay, you're safe now; he can't control you anymore," Sett said reassuringly, making Jess gulp as she nodded before her eyes widened. "Oh yeah, Salvation is an 'all or nothing' kind of spell, so enjoy having your legs back."
Luke blinked, watching as Sett put Jess back down onto her feet. Jess looked down, taking a shaky step, her eyes wide as she looked up at her demonic saviour in awe.
"Now, if you'll excuse me… I need to commit great violence on someone," Sett said, his frown growing downright deadly.
…sucks to be Valefor.
– Sett –
Vicky described him; the guy I saved named him.
[Tracker] will find him as I end my exchange with the guy who swaps locations.
– Elijah Mathers (Valefor) –
The Travellers had proven almost entirely useless, and he hadn't expected the blasphemer to be able to just undo all his hard work so easily. Sett was too dangerous to be allowed to live, being able to undo Her holy work.
Even he hadn't wanted to let Noelle free, as the abomination was hard to control, even for him, but he moved towards where he had ordered her to wait with a scowl. Sett would pay for his transgressions against the goddess…
Turning the corner, he froze as he stared into Sett's unamused eyes, standing between him and Noelle.
"S-stop!" Valefor shouted as Sett charged towards him, being utterly ignored. No, he couldn't fail his Goddess like this, she was counting on him to-
His thoughts were distracted by the flurry of enraged blows, Sett simply beating him into the ground, only to heal him and start the one-sided ass-whooping all over again.
– Noelle Meinhardt –
She didn't like seeing people suffering, but just this once, she'd make an exception as she watched Sett beat the master into a coma, raining blows on the smarmy bastard's body.
She'd been told not to move, an order she was happy to follow as she watched Sett heal the master, just to start beating him all over again.
Finally, leaving Valefor in a puddle of his own blood, Sett turned to her, and despite her monstrous form, she shuddered at the dangerous look in his eye. As she flinched back, she watched the anger start to fade into a softer, more sympathetic look as he examined her, approaching without fear.
"D-don't, stay away. If you get too close, I'll make an evil clone of you," Noelle warned, making him blink as he examined her malformed lower half, seeing the protruding animal heads and limbs. "I can't control my powers."
– Sett –
The girl before me obviously got a shitty lot in life, and that gets me thinking as I examine her.
What the fuck am I supposed to do about this? Danger Sense has never been louder than when I was about to approach to use Salvation on her, but after a moment of consideration, a flash of sheer genius strikes me.
Every pull has its uses, no matter how useless it seems. I call forth my strongest summon, the almighty… Pet Rock.
I noticed something while examining my pet rock; it is classified as sentient and alive as far as my powers are concerned. So, theoretically, I should be able to…
[Geokinesis] transferred to Pet Rock
The Rock doesn't react to its newfound power over the earth, but this is just step one as I set the rock down and back away. Now, let's see if this works.
As I exchange the powers of my new friend and the almighty Pet Rock, the Rock grows in size rapidly but remains utterly motionless as it grows to be bigger than me. Meanwhile, my new friend's twisted lower half shifts back to a pair of utterly human legs (nude legs, having been wearing nothing on her lower half). She doesn't seem to mind her nudity, an untrimmed pussy on full display as she stares at her legs in awe.
Charging me, Danger Sense remains silent as she dives at me, hugging me desperately as she shouts countless thank yous, and I just return the hug and pat her hair as she cries into my shirt.
Feats Achieved: Defeat Trickster (one roll), Defeat Sundancer (one roll), Defeat Ballistic (one roll), Defeat Genesis (one roll), Heal Genesis' legs (one roll), Defeat Valefor (one roll), Traumatise Valefor (one roll), Prevent Echidna from rising (three rolls), fix Noelle (two rolls). Twelve Rolls Granted.
I almost don't want to continue beating Valefor into a coma for daring to master my friend. Almost.
As this is your first time rolling more than ten rolls at once, you have a one-off opportunity to sacrifice up to three rolls to improve the tier of all rolls by that many (up to Mythical tier, Divines must still be rolled).
Ooh, I hate to lose rolls, but… I'll drop two and get a plus two to the tier of the other ten.
Rolling: Uncommon Artefact, Junk Knowledge, Mythical Power, Rare Perk, Epic Perk, Epic Power, Epic Power, Divine Perk, Common Perk, Legendary Perk
I could kiss Valefor, if I didn't dislike the taste of all the blood he's currently coughing up.
[Endless Quiver] - Uncommon Artefact
One of the downsides to archery compared to other forms of combat is that you need ammunition. Hopefully, this will mitigate that problem, as this quiver creates endless copies of whatever arrow or crossbow bolt is inserted into a slot on the side.
It's not very useful for me, but I know a girl who loves her crossbow.
[Juggling Mastery] - Junk Knowledge
You are a master at juggling, able to easily handle dozens of items at once, but if you attempt to throw them or use them for anything but juggling, you will drop them all.
Well, it's a nice party trick. I will never look down on a Junk roll again, now with my all-powerful Rock. Also, that was a Major curse before it got boosted.
[Wolverine: The Wolverine] - Mythical Power
You have an Adamantium skeleton, an incredible regeneration factor and can grow a set of claws from your knuckles.
As if my current regen wasn't already busted, now it's increased tenfold, and my bones are made of unbreakable metal.
[To the Victor…] - Rare Perk
Might makes right; the strong get what they want. If you defeat a man in combat, their love interest will find you more attractive and lose some of their interest in their lover. If you defeat a woman, they will find you more attractive regardless of their preferences, and people won't find it odd if you claim them as the spoils of war.
Temptation, thy name is Perk. I mean, would it really be evil if I cucked the nazis? I'll ask Alexandria; she seems like a good person, and I can trust her to guide me right.
[Stormkin] - Epic Perk
You are one with the storm, blessed by its touch. You are immune to electricity and lightning-based attacks, and absorbing them grants you a boost to speed and strength.
If Sophia was going to like me for the Endless Quiver, she's gonna adore me when I give her this and remove her only weakness.
[Star-Nosed Mole] - Epic Power
Your reaction time is twenty-five times faster than it would be otherwise. If your reaction time were previously average, your reaction time to visual stimulus would be 0.01 seconds. You also can think and process information three times as quickly.
Sweet, I can feel my mind speeding up. Never gonna be a bad thing; I wouldn't have gotten skewered quite as many times if I had this.
[Aegis] - Epic Power
If you are aware of an attack, it will not harm you. You can only be hurt by sneak attacks. If you're hit by an attack that's too quick for your mind to comprehend that it's there, you are not considered aware of it by your power.
So, with [Danger Sense], [Aegis] and [Star-Nosed Mole], I'm just unkillable, right? What's the point in two regen powers if I also never get hit?
[Infinite Consumables Cheat] - Divine Perk
Your consumables no longer have a respawn time. You can create an unlimited quantity of any of your consumables, no longer needing them to be used before they reappear in your inventory.
Ooh, suddenly, my stock of potions is looking like one hell of a source of income. I'll tell Lexy about this and get the PRT troops armed with Potions of Growth, Stone-Skin, Giant's Strength, and Healing.
[Tattoos] - Common Perk
You now have the option to gain some excellent ink on your skin. Pick any style that you wish. They can become darker and more prominent when using your powers or fighting while fading out during prolonged times of peace if you desire. You can alter your ink as you please, taking any form you desire.
Neat; never underestimate the ability to look badass.
[Race: Angel] - Legendary Perk
The holy warriors of God from Heaven, the Angels appear akin to humans, save for the ability to manifest wings and a halo. They have similar innate abilities to their Devilish counterparts, along with a weakness against demonic weaponry meant to target or corrupt holiness. Angels receive powerful light-based attacks that smite the wicked and the infernal and can further refine this with magic and training.
Ah, I beat an angel, so I got an angel, huh? It's not for me, but maybe I need an angel to go alongside my devilish ways.
Extracting myself from Noelle's hug, I give the beaming girl a soft smile as I send the Pet Rock back to my Palace, where it can't get into any trouble.
Healing Valefor again so he doesn't pass away, I pause for a moment as I stand on him. I've swapped his power with Danger Sense because knowing there is an ass-whooping coming isn't going to help him get out of it.
"Hey, you want a turn kicking his ass?" I ask, making Noelle blink before she turns to him, her beaming smile turning dangerous as the ground shakes slightly.
I send a message to Alexandria, letting her know where we are and what happened before I get back to beating his ass for messing with Vicky's mind, Noelle joining in with some light temptation.
– Rebecca Costa-Brown (Alexandria) –
Well, she'd wanted to turn villains into heroes as part of Sett's new team… and as she looked at the various villains now locked in separate cells, she couldn't help but smile.
Sett had told her about the considerable rewards he'd gotten for taking them all down and stopping 'Echidna', which made it seem like Noelle had been an S-Class threat waiting to happen. The Pet Rock was going to have to be tested, but in the worst case, Sett could just keep it within his pocket dimension.
Noelle was eager to join the heroes, or to be more precise, to join Sett as the newest geokinetic hero, and Genesis wasn't far behind in her admiration of her saviour and healer. Ballistic and Trickster were less eager, but she was happy to remind them that all the Travelers were wanted and had blood on their hands. Sundancer was more nervous about trying to be a hero with such a dangerous power, but she could be convinced. Oliver was easy to press into the Wards after he was picked up; his power was minor but still practical enough to keep around. The revelation that they had sold one of their friends into slavery and that they could easily be Birdcaged for it was enough to silence any complaints they may have still had.
Already, she was planning on shipping the male members away. Sett's power seemed to grow with acts of hedonism as well as victories. After a threesome with Panacea and Invisigirl, he'd suddenly gotten his hands on that wonder metal, adamantium, that had the Tinker community begging Armsmaster on their hands and knees for a shard of it. Armsmaster and Dragon had needed to get some outside help to even melt the super-metal down, and word spread fast.
Of course, Sett had also just gained the power to produce an infinite amount of it, giving Armsmaster far more of it while she was interrogating the Travellers. That wasn't even mentioning the potions, which were going to act as a force multiplier for the PRT.
What mattered was making sure she was right that Sett subconsciously saw sleeping with heroines as a 'feat', and the three Traveller girls had unknowingly volunteered to help her test that theory.
If she were right, the fastest way to get Sett stronger would be to have a constant stream of heroines and villainesses in his bed. Smiling to herself, she looked at the screen, which showed Valefor. She almost wanted to thank him for this plan of his. He'd handed them quite the boon after all.
Still, this was quite a reckless attack from the Fallen; what had prompted him to act so quickly? How had he found the Travellers to begin with?
— Bonus Scene — The Simurgh
Valefor was useless.
Eh, she hadn't expected this to work, but she'd wanted to at least inconvenience the fucker who'd done so much damage to her.
Looking at her restored body, the Simurgh frowned as she glared towards America, where the Anomaly was waiting to ruin her plans. The Creator was throwing a tantrum over how overshadowed he was being by Sett, but what the fuck was she supposed to do about it? Get blown up again?
No, she needed a new plan. She was forced to engage the overpowered bastard, essentially mastered by that egotistical manchild-
Mastered like her the Travellers had been.
Her frown changed into a small smile, a new plan forming in her mind.
Author’s Note: Trickster fucked up, which is normal, but it wasn’t his fault for once, which is strange.
Beans’ Note: Praised be the Pet Rock. Let him find his final form, as the sidekick of the geokinetic Noelle.
Malcolm’s Note: Juggling, it’s objectively cool.

I am entirely motivated by praise and interaction, so leave a review, and I’ll probably write faster. I do read every review/comment, because it gives me the happy brain chemicals and motivates me to write more. My body is a machine that turns positive reviews into new chapters.
I have a Patreo n, where my supporters can vote on which fics get bonus chapters each cycle and have access to advance chapters, up to ten chapters ahead of the public release. Patreo n is also five chapters ahead and plat/diamond tier have voting rights for my Quest. Feel free to check it out.
I also set up a Subscribe Star as well, more or less just as a backup/test to see which I prefer. The chapters are available on Discord if you’re a Patreo n and on the site directly on Subscribe Star due to the different site rules, so if you don’t use Discord or have issues finding the chapters, Subscribe Star is the better choice.
The Advance Chapters

Here’s the link for that: discord .gg/DarkWolfShiro
If it says it’s expired, it is probably your account being unable to join NSFW servers, and you’ll need to fix that. If you fix that and it still says it’s expired, add me (DarkWolfShiro), and I’ll invite you myself.
