Chương 75: ch75- Relentless Pursuit

Compared to the shock Alex caused in Manchester, his impact on East Sea City and some of the nearby strongholds was relatively subdued. Even though his 77,000 damage output was astonishing, the result was still the same: Alex had simply one-shot his opponent.

Back in East Sea City, the atmosphere was electric. Earlier that afternoon, a rumor had spread that the city lord and his team were planning to take down 10 resource points, and they had even shared the specific locations. Such a bold claim was hard for most people to believe, despite Alex's demonstrated strength.

Only those who had watched Alex grow, especially from the Hu-Tiger stronghold, blindly believed in his abilities. But even so, few ventured to those resource points to see if the claim was true.

Incredibly, it turned out that Alex and his team had cleared several of those resource points, like the **Stardust Platform**. When other players arrived and cleared the remaining monsters, they were able to successfully claim the points.

This left many amazed and began to change their skepticism into a glimmer of belief and excitement. However, because the remaining resource points were quite far, most of those who tried to assist found it difficult to clear the monsters, let alone claim the points.

Now, the city dwellers who had doubted the earlier reports were left speechless by Alex's insane damage output. Compared to his near 10,000 damage yesterday, the fact that his output had multiplied sevenfold today was simply terrifying.

Yesterday, while Alex's damage was high, others had managed to deal a few hundred or even over a thousand points of damage. His numbers were impressive but only about 10 times higher than everyone else. Today, however, could anyone even hit five digits?

Even the highest output from others only reached around 2,000 or 3,000, which meant Alex's damage exceeded theirs by fifty to sixty times. The gap was so wide, it seemed impossible to bridge.

Still, after watching Alex's performance, the audience's heart rate began to settle as other battles unfolded. Globally, there were plenty of other powerful players and lucky individuals.

Thousands of players were dealing damage in the thousands or even tens of thousands, and as viewers saw more East Sea City contestants getting eliminated by such opponents, their expectations were reset.

After all, these were the top 1 million players in the world. With so many managing to hit damage numbers in the thousands, Alex's 77,000 output, while still striking, felt a little more digestible at only six or seven times higher.

Soon, pride began to return to the hearts of those in East Sea City. They had witnessed the highest damage dealer they'd seen so far—and he was one of their own!

Outside the city lord's manor, things were lively, but inside, it was relatively quiet. Alex's classmates hadn't returned yet, as they were still busy securing their resource points.

Having finished his first match, Alex felt a bit more intrigued, though the battle had lasted less than a minute and didn't even serve as a proper warm-up. Back in his room, he queued for his second match, but this time the matchmaking wasn't as quick. It took about 30 seconds to find an opponent.

The delay set off a few alarms in Alex's mind. The number of competitors had dwindled, and that meant it would take longer to find matches. Soon, it might even become difficult to find opponents.

Before Alex could dwell on this, he was transported into the arena, where he faced a new opponent—a Bellos monster.

This creature was unlike anything Alex had encountered before. Compared to the usual grotesque, bloated forms of Bellos monsters, this one was almost… elegant. Its body was slender, its round head covered in scales and wrinkles, and its lower body sported four long, thin legs. The only part of it that appeared bulky was its muscular arms, which were gripping a massive, purple bow.

The creature's strange appearance and unusual weapon made Alex cautious. He quickly raised his shield, preparing to close the gap and eliminate the monster.

However, the Bellos monster was no slouch. It leaped backward as soon as Alex moved, widening the distance by nearly 10 meters. This surprised Alex. The monster's speed was several times faster than anything he had fought in East Sea City. Catching it in the wild would have been much harder.

He wasn't sure if this was a rare creature or simply a new breed, but encountering one meant luck wasn't on his side.

Still, despite its impressive agility, Alex's speed far exceeded it. He began closing in rapidly. As he drew near, the monster seemed to panic, lifting its massive bow and aiming directly at Alex. A purple light formed at the center of the bow, and within three seconds, an arrow shot toward Alex with incredible speed.

"Whoosh!"

The purple arrow zipped past Alex's ear, missing him by a hair. The near miss left him momentarily stunned.

Taking advantage of his hesitation, the monster leaped backward again, trying to increase the distance for another shot. But Alex, still in shock, finally snapped out of it. The idea that a skill-based attack could miss was foreign to him. In most games, movies, or novels, attacks always hit their target.

Reflecting on the past week, Alex realized that most of the skills he'd seen were close-range, making it almost impossible to miss. But seeing this brilliant attack miss entirely caught him off guard.

Was it a flaw in the creature's aim, or was it possible for ranged attacks to miss?

Laughing at the thought, Alex lost interest in toying with the creature. Drawing his **Eclipse Shadow**, he activated its special effect, doubling his speed as he turned into a blur of purple light. Within an instant, he closed the distance and slashed at the monster.

-150,000!

With a single, clean strike, the Bellos monster was reduced to dust, leaving behind an **R-level gem** and its purple bow as loot.
