Chương 9: Typhon

One day, someone opened the door. At first, Arja didn't move, she was waiting nicely with fear that they would abandon her again if she did something wrong or worse, that she would be killed. A man without a mask entered.

He was tall and elegant. He had a square-shaped jaw, and his eyes were fine and black but his smile was largely showing all his white teeth. He stared at Arja and asked her in a warm voice.

"Do you want to go outside with me for a walk?"

She nodded her head and followed him. The sun burned her eyes and she had to protect her face for a while before seeing things around her. The building was surrounded by the forest and they were in a vast garden. People were running, jumping, and doing a lot of different exercises. Arja could swear she was in one of her father's military camps then she realized this was not possible as the kingdom probably didn't exist anymore.

The man took her hand as they were walking slowly.

"Would you like to live like them? Going outside whenever you wish?"

She nodded again. Of course, she wanted to. She was waiting for this for so long.

"You will have to learn a few things. Your partner will help you with this, don't worry. Do you have questions?"

Arja had one question, the only one burning her lips for so long. When she tried to talk her voice was broken by the long silence. The few times she talked to herself in her cell were not enough to keep her sweet soft voice. The joyful voice she could have before.

"Since how long am I there?"

The man smiled at her, he replaced one of her hair strands behind her ear.

"Three years my child."

Arja felt like a knife pierced her heart at this moment. She knew it was a long time but she would never expect so long. Her face didn't show any emotion at all. The solitude made her expressionless. The man took her hand and caressed it gently.

"I know how it must be hard for you with your origins. Everybody there did this training before. People here are volunteers, in your case, as a war refugee this was your only option to stay alive. Since you succeed in the training, you can be one of us and join our family."

She had issues understanding what the man was saying but somehow she felt a warm wave inside her.

Then another man arrived, he was around her age. Smiling and so alive. This man was very tall, he had great musculature contrasting with the softness of his lips and eyes. Arja had to admit that she was not indifferent to his attractive physic. Anyway, the man raised his hand and did a proper salutation.

"Hi! I am Typhon. We will be partners from now. I will show you your room and the installations."

She followed him. This man didn't seem to know what happened to her recently and treated her like a normal recruit. Judging by the smile of the first man that brought her outside she understood that nobody else knew who she was. It was easier this way. For some reason she couldn't explain, it was less painful to think this way. Like if the princess from the past never existed and all this was just a nightmare.

After all, she wasn't even sure whether she was real or not.

Typhon showed her her new room. The bed was much more comfortable, the room was spacious, and most importantly, the door was not locked. He showed her the dining room, training spaces, and the lake where to swim. Arja watched it and remembered the long sunny days to lay with Altraya before Ulrich would join them furiously to stop a few young suitors from coming closer. She had a smile for a moment. Typhon watched her for a moment.

"I like your smile."

She realized what he said and controlled herself immediately, he laughed and finished the tour with the main hall.

"Behind this door, there is the general's office. We take our missions there. As for us, we will have to go tomorrow to learn the details. It's already late, we should go and rest, tomorrow is our big day!"

Arja came back to her room alone. She watched through the window and saw the little star shining. She could not stop to think that things could have been worse right now. She became a kind of soldier, she was not dead or captured by the enemy as a trophy. This night was sweet.

After she closed the door, she took a deep breath. The air was much better there. She heard people walking in the corridor, laughing together. That was surprising and refreshing.

She walked into the room, opened the closet, and saw clothes in her size. Arja took some clean change and went to the bathroom. The room was made in two parts. The first one was with the sinks and then there were individual cabins. She could take a hot shower, and she stayed quite long under the water, enjoying every second. Removing the deep dirt off her skin. Arja washed her scar. After so long it was fully healed, and still, it was painful for her. Then she dried and dressed. She noticed that the fabric was much nicer than the previous one. Then she came back rapidly into her room. Nothing has changed, nobody came, and nobody hurt her. Arja wanted to stay prudent and she used a chair to block the door once she was inside.

Once the door was secured, she went into her bed. She enjoyed the comfort she didn't have for so long in her cell, she turned her head to the window searching for a landmark, and after she could see the little star she fell asleep in no time.

At first, her night was agitated. She dreamed of the explosion once again, she saw her brother being dismantled in front of her and she felt herself flying to the building, her abdomen was in pain but this time… This time someone caught her.

This person had tremendous wings, he was the light itself. His long blond hair was floating all around him. His gold and silver clothes were as shiny as his aura. She felt his warmth as he was the god of the sun himself. When she turned, she was not in the city anymore. Instead, that was a white and pure palace like she saw before in her dreams. The man dropped her on the floor delicately. He touched her pendant and smiled.

"You never wished to be a noblewoman, look what they did to you."

Arja saw her pendant, and when he let it fall, she could admire the metal of the chain becoming pure gold. She stared at him for a while. It was a warm feeling, she had this sensation to know him perfectly. To trust him no matter what. His green eyes were circled with gold, she was lost in their deep.

"Heaven's not enough."

He smiled at her with such deep joy that Arja smiled in return. He placed his hand on her cheek and caressed her.

"In another life, in another dream, with another name."

She heard feminine light footsteps behind her back but before she had time to return to see who was coming she felt a slap on her face and she awakened immediately.
