Chương 7: Adventurers
" Here's what you'll be using " Hannah said throwing a bunch of goods at Cole.
He looked inside only to see flexible armour, two daggers , food rationing and different clothes.
Cole looked at Hannah questioningly before sighing and putting it at the inventory.
" Am not even gonna ask how she knew am mostly skilled in dagger arts ' Cole thought.
Mia had gone in front to meet adventurers that would be escorting them.
Cole had stayed behind because Hannah wanted to talk to her.
Hannah beckoned him to follow her.
As they walked towards the gate , slowly Hannah started the conversation.
" The adventurers have been paid to escort you to Elfyim , The Capital city of the main Elves.
You will be then escorted to the queen of the elves where guardians will come pick her up .
There you will be rewarded and you can do whatever you want. " Hannah surmarised.
" And if I may ask , why not just finish like the rest of the adventurers by dropping her at the gate because I don't think she'll be assassinated in the protection of the Queen."
" You're right, it's nearly impossible. However that decision wasn't mine to make in the first place. " Hannah replied.
" And what's that supposed to mean?"
Hannah didn't answer but rather warned him of something else.
" Due to the war with demons, there has been migrations of multiple beasts so fighting and hiding from beast is inevitable. This journey will undoubtedly take longer than two weeks. " Hannah said.
" So what do you think of that situation?" Hannah asked. She wanted to know how Cole would react to it.
" Knowledge is power, meaning we should know of the beasts , what they eat and their usual habitat " Hannah nodded.
" Optimal mode of transportation ?"
Cole kept quiet. If this was anything like the shows he watched then no mode of transportation was perfectly safe.
Giant birds in the sky capable of tearing everything apart.
Dormant sea creatures that would scare any Normal person
Land was occupied by demons and beasts.
" None "
Hannah shook her head.
" Land is the best. Despite multiple beasts and the ongoing war , it is far much safer as it is a familiar environment.
Hiding is easy, using terrain to fend of against beasts and stray demons alike is the best of all and food scavenging is also easy. " Hannah explained.
Cole nodded understanding her words. She was technically saying not to try something fast like flying to the destination or something that looks the most secure, eg using rivers and lakes.
In short she warned him to only use land and land alone.
A book suddenly appeared on Hannah's hand which she gave to Cole.
The book had a red fire emblem on it .
" This is a grimoire that focuses on controlling flames. It will greatly help you "
At first Cole was confused then he remembered his uniform. A uniform created to withstand high heat was burnt.
' Did I do that?' He thought.
So far he couldn't remember how he got here or what happened at the temple after Diabo finished talking to him .
' This woman doesn't do anything without a purpose ' Cole thought glancing at Hannah.
' Oh ... Right that title ' Cole thought. He internally shuddered at his Idiocracy today.
He immediately understood it's importance and stored it in his inventory.
They finally reached to find a group of 5 people.
Mia was excitedly talking to a wolf boy around his age. Apart from the characteristics of a wolf ( ears and tail ) . He had black hair coupled with a slightly feral brown eyes. He also carried a large broadsword on his back that reached to his knees.
Cole was slightly surprised because even he himself was uncertain if he could even lift it let alone wield it.
There was also a wolf lady of around his current regressed age who was lying on one of the total six six legged horse. She also had black wolf ears and tails which closely resembled the wolf boy . She also like the wolf boy had black hair. This hair flowed to her waist. She was perky and beautiful especially with her black green archer costume enhancing her curves. She seemed around 5'8 in height.
A bow was attached to the saddle of the horse with a quiver. This showed she was an archer but odly enough she wore a blindfold that covered both her eyes.
There were also two people sitting on the grass holding each other as they talked somewhat intimately. They seemed to be a couple.
One had red hair coupled with red enchanting eyes. She seemed around her mid 20s . She was short of about 5'4 but she was beautiful physically with her large ass. She however didn't have breasts like the wolf lady. She also had a staff with a blue orb.
The man besides her was also around her age with blonde hair, Blue eyes 6'4 and a charming smile. If he was on earth he wouldn't definitely be a model. He had a large spear with runic symbols on them.
Mia noticing her grandma diverted her attention by running up to her and hugging her.
Whatever people were doing stopped and looked at the two.
The blonde haired man approached Hannah and shook his hand.
" It's good to see you after a long while m'lady " The blonde man.
" Hoho, it's nice to see you to Lockley, I can see you're ready. "
Lockley nodded.
" All of us are "
Hannah nodded in appreciation.
" Who's that man with you granny?"
The boy that was talking to Mia shouted. This diverted the attention to him.
Hannah signaled him to introduce himself.
" My name's Cole , I am Mia's distant cousin." Cole introduced himself.
" You don't look like a royal and you're also too weak . I bet I could..... " The wolf boy was hit in the head by the other wolf.
" Respect your elders Lyka ! " The wolf boy groaned in pain as he scratched his head furiously.
" Argh , you're being a meanie Lovette" Lyka said making Mia chuckle at their antics.
This made Lyka blushed madly and glare at Lovette, the source of all this.
" Anyway back to the topic. You guys will be doing escort duty to Elfyim. The risks are great but so are the rewards. Each one of you will be paid a million gold coins. " Hannah stated.
Everyone's ears perked up apart from Cole.
' A million gold coins must be a lot huh ' Cole thought.
" That's all for the briefing, I wish you journey mercies. "
And with that, she turned and walked away.
She didn't even say goodbye to Mia. Mia slightly hesitated contemplating about going to say goodbye but she decided not to .
This showed their relationship wasn't that deep and Cole was quick to notice this. Being in the army has some of it's perks.
This information would have disturbed him about the escort mission if Mia wasn't important but luckily she was so that meant Hannah must have planned most things fluidly.
The blonde haired man also noticed this and sighed.
He turned to the rest of the people who would be his companions for a while.
" Before we start our journey how about we introduce ourselves?"
