"It's easy to stop me from doing this," Allen said, his sparkling eyes looking at her. "Being Jason's mother also requires a review, which means I need to see if you meet my standards before I let you stay by Jason's side."

Blanche felt as if she had heard the biggest joke. Caring for a child was an innate ability of a mother; how could he say such a thing?!

Blanche wanted to voice her opposition, but Allen continued, "Don't forget, this is my territory. If you make me unhappy, I will immediately take Jason away and you won't be able to find us. You know I have that ability."
