They took a car to get to the other side of the island. It was much more old-fashioned than those used in the city (Sophie happened to drive one a few times), but it seemed more suitable for the local dirt roads.
On the other side of the island there was a mountain: Sophie was used to seeing its silhouette against the horizon, but she had never gone that far. After about half an hour of journey they arrived at the mountainside.

No, look. She walked around the rocks and moved a bush to reveal a series of steps, steep but usable. Hardly anyone knows this path, so we shouldnt have problems.
