In a large expanse of forested area, filled with trees, plants and animals of all shape and sizes filled the place. It was just another day for the forest inhabitants until a huge bird of flames flew across over their heads at a slow speed and just the slight aura being released from its body froze the weaker spirit beasts prowling around and brought them to their knees, while the more stronger spirit beasts looked at the phoenix that was flying above with extreme caution in their eyes, prepared for if it ever decided to attack, but the phoenix itself was lost in thought as it flew,
'... Maybe I should have asked those guys for directions before I flew off… who knew this place was so huge,' Houryu thought as he flew, looking for a sign that he was going somewhere… anywhere.
He needed to find a way out of the forest as quickly as possible so he could begin looking for a way to enhance Sylvia's growth, and as this world majorly dealt with using spirit beasts to cultivate martial souls, there should be such methods… right? He wasn't a hundred percent sure as the people here killed spirit beasts so they can take away their spirit rings and didn't really care about enhancing their growths.
'There's probably some sort of immortal herb or something somewhere that has that function… the only challenge now is finding which one it is, and where to find it,'
'... and of course, getting out of here comes first or I wouldn't even be able to start… also I wonder the time difference between here and the bleach world, hopefully it's not like the way things always are in all those novels, where time passes way faster…'
'It wouldn't be fun if after finding a way back, I can't get my hands on the hogyoku because the thousand-year blood war already started or something… that part of the bleach universe doesn't really concern me after all,' Houryu thought as he continued flying.
Suddenly he paused as he just got a pretty bright idea, 'My sensing ability is not really helpful in getting me out of here as it has a limit to the distance it can sense, turning back and using my sharingan would make my vision even more limited as I can't really see anything from down here…,'
'...But what about from up there,' he thought as he looked up at the bright blue sky and flapped his wings with more force, changing direction and flying upwards at high speed, his speed increasing with every flap of his wings.
What he was planning to do was to go to a higher altitude and see where the expanse of forest ended… hopefully he doesn't end up in space, especially with the speed he was flying at.
A bright streak of orange light charged upwards toward the sky, it's speed still increasing as it continued going upwards, defying gravity. After flying upwards for almost three minutes, Houryu was very high up in the sky and was he could already feel how thin the air was as he had almost gone even above the clouds, so he slowed and stopped before turning around and looking down,
'Damn!' that forest really is huge, he exclaimed to himself as he saw how much expanse of land the forest covered, even from how high he was, he still couldn't see the end of it. Luckily, towards the southern side he could barely see where the forest began,
Houryu started going towards that direction while still maintaining his high altitude so he could see more areas and luckily it he could see some human settlements a bit away from where the trees began. He was about to begin diving down, when he changed his mind and began to revert to his human form while still thousands of altitudes high up in the sky.
Sylvia who was sleeping inside the flame ball was suddenly stirred awake by the sudden rush of wind. She opened her eyes sleepily to see Houryu with his cheek resting on his fist in front of her face, his hair rushing around in all directions…
"KYUUUUUUUUUU!!!" Sylvia screamed out as soon as she realized that there was no floor and she was no longer floating but falling,
"Hahahahahaha…" Houryu laughed at her shocked reaction before grabbing her out of the air and holding her close to his chest as he began to change positions as they dived laughing and having fun all the way until the floor began looking a little too close… he may be semi-immortal and all but falling from 40000 feet and not cushioning his fall, was pretty much guaranteed to make him reincarnate.
Meanwhile…
Back at where Yuhao and Wang Qui'er and the rest of their group was.
Wang Qui'er just came out of her unconscious state, completely healed. She stood up from where she lay and went out of the tent just in time to listen to the ongoing conversation.
"Could he really be a spirit beast that has surpassed the 100000-year age of cultivation and had chosen to be reincarnated as a human?" Yuhao asked Cai Mei'er in shock after hearing how Houryu flew away and put it together with the fact that he had seen him transform to a phoenix earlier as well.
"That would make a lot of sense…" Cai Mei'er had a pondering look as she thought more about it. It was quite plausible after all… especially as all the signs pointed towards that direction; they had met in a forest known for housing extremely powerful and mysterious beasts, he was obviously hostile to them, and there was also the added fact that throughout their fight he had not shown any sign of a spirit ring that human spirit masters usually had… but that could just be because they were too weak to make him bring it out.
"It still doesn't totally add up…" She said after a bit of thought,
"If he truly was a spirit beast reincarnated as a human and he was able to take us on all together without revealing the full extent of his power… or maybe even half of it… then why did he not simply kill us," She stated her thoughts and they all gulped nervously as they also thought about it.
Wang Qing'er who heard the conversation went back to sit on her bed with a confused, yet bitter look on her face. Unknown to anyone but herself, she had a few special talents that came with her golden dragon martial soul and one of them allowed her to see whatever happened around her when she was unconscious, so she had seen the whole process of Houryu feeding her his blood even when he seemed to be especially weak after the battle with the werewolves.
"Why did he bother do that much to save me…?" She asked herself in a whisper with a conflicted look.
"He injured himself..."
"I already have your blood in my body... Houryu, you..." drops of tears began to fall from her eyes.
Why they fell though? nobody knew, because even if Houryu knew that she cried because he used his blood to save her, he'd wonder if he actually did something that touching.
