Chương 4: 4.Motivation

( Rei POV )

During the whole match, I noticed that Izumi was awfully quiet so when I turned my head towards him I noticed a new expression on his face a one which I have never seen an expression of admiration. So I called his name and he didn't respond I kept calling but he still didn't respond. So scared I caught his shoulders and shook him as hard as I could and he finally snapped out of it.

He then looked towards me and said something which I thought I'll hear so soon he says, "Rei I'll start playing baseball more seriously and I'll become the greatest pitcher there is."

At this moment my happiness had no bound I started jumping around hugging him. I was so happy that I could play baseball with my best friend. I then told him, "Rei with me as a catcher and you as a pitcher we would be the unbeatable combo." and started laughing.

Hearing me he also starts laughing along with me come near and half hugs me and says, " Yes, I and you will be the unbeatable duo."

Then at this moment, the door opens and my dad comes in and keeps a hand on our shoulder and says, "Yes you both I know you have it in you. Both of you practice hard and you can attain anything."

Listening to him we both became happy and nodded our head. Then dad says "Ok then this calls for a celebration I'll cook up some delicious food to remember this moment." and starts to head towards the kitchen. Then I turn my to see Izumi also turning his head to see me and we start discussing our path to become the best duo there can be.

We continued to talk until dinner time. We heard my dad calling us and when we went we saw a variety of food set on the table ready we eagerly sat paid our respects and started to dig in. Then suddenly while eating my dad says, "Hey Izumi I will start teaching you basics and some tricks that I have picked up in my time."

Hearing this he nodded his head and continued to eat. After eating Izumi returned home and I went to my room and fell on the bed. I started at the ceiling and thought 'Izumi will start to receive advice from dad I should also try to learn something'. I sat on my chair opened up my laptop and searched for the basics in the catcher and their specific role in the game. There were a lot of results I read them and vaguely understood the position of a catcher is to bring out the complete potential within the pitcher by giving out orders.

Seeing the time and that it has been late I closed my laptop and went to bed.

*NEXT DAY*

The day went by normal in school and when we came back home I was surprised to see my dad standing by the doorway. He then looked towards Izumi and said, "Go change your clothes and come we will go to the ground today to show you the basics." Izumi nodded and went to his house. Dad then looked towards me and told me to come inside and when we were inside he turned to me and told me he brought me a gift and when I saw it I was shocked it was a catcher kit with all the equipment. He then told, " Sorry kiddo I could only find this size and it would probably fit you only when u get to high school." Hearing this I got sad but quickly recovered and went to my room to change clothes.

When I came back down Izumi was already there and was talking to my dad. Seeing me coming they got up and we made our way to the ground. There I saw a man standing with a cap on his head looking towards us.

Then suddenly my dad waved his hand and called him, " Hey Shiro you really came thanks, man." He then bear-hugged him and the man replied to him, " Anything for you Ten."

Then both of them turned to us and dad said, "This is my best friend from childhood his name is Kamizato Shirogana. He is a catcher and he came to teach you the basics Rei."

I was shocked to the core it was really Kamizato Shirogana he was my role model. Then dad said, " Hey Rei learn as much as you can from him." Listening to this I nodded my head. I then took out a paper from my pocket held it out and asked for an autograph from him. My dad suddenly started laughing and said. " Hey, Shiro my son is a huge fan for yours."

Listening to my dad Shirogana-san took the paper and signed it and gave it back and told "Thanks for supporting me."

Then dad took Izumi to a separate place and started teaching him basics and I looked at Shirogana-san who was looking at me.
