Chương 8: My favorite fruit (EDITED)

When Xia Meilin went back, she was surprised to see her brother sitting alone. It was a good thing that their table was at the corner so what happened earlier didn't catch the attention of others since most of them were either on the dance floor or with others, socializing.

"Sinian-ge, where is Mello?" Xia Meilin asked.

Xia Sinian raised a brow upon hearing the name. "Mello? Didn't you named him 'Gua'?"

"Yes, but his name here is Mello, and besides, my son likes it when I call him Mello." Xia Meilin said as she looked around for Little Melon and Feng Ning. Did they go somewhere together? "By the way, where is he, brother?"

"He went running off somewhere. Feng Ning went to go after him." He replied calmly. "He's a troublesome child, running off wherever he wants to."

Xia Meilin turned to her brother as she narrowed her eyes. "Xiao Gua is an obedient boy. He won't go running off somewhere unless you said something to him."

Xia Sinian's face remained blank, "I said a few things." He didn't deny anything since he was a straightforward person.

"Y-You...!" She gritted her teeth. "I will beat you up later." She turned and left him alone since she was very worried about her son.

Xia Sinian ignored her, there was no way that she could beat him just because she said so. He stood up and decided to talk with his friends.

While searching for Little Melon, she bumped into Feng Ning. "Ning-ge! Have you seen my son?"

Feng Ning shook his head. "No, not yet. I've been looking for him since earlier but I couldn't find him"

This time, Xia Meilin started panicking. When Feng Ning saw this, he patted her shoulder. "Calm down, Xiao Mei. Mello must be hiding somewhere. You search over there while I search over the other side, okay? If we work together, we will be able to find him soon."

Her eyes became watery as she nodded her head. "T-Thank you for your help Ning-ge..."

"I will go ask for my friends to help us too, okay? Let's go."

Once again, they separated in order to search for Little Melon.

Xia Meilin was so worried since she couldn't find Little Melon anywhere, but at the same time, she was angry at her brother. If it was not for Xia Sinian, Little Melon wouldn't have run away!

Did he go down to hide on another floor? That was possible since he couldn't be found anywhere in the dining hall. Xia Meilin went toward the elevator but upon arriving there, the elevator doors slid open revealing a man, holding a little boy's hand.

"Xiao Gua!"

"Momma!" Little Melon quickly pulled his hand off from the man's hold before he jumped into Xia Meilin's embrace, crying. "Momma... momma..."

Xia Meilin held him close in her arms as she carried him, relief was flooding her whole body. "I finally found you..."

"Momma won't leave Mello, right? Right? Momma... please don't send Mello to the orphanage..." He sobbed.

She furrowed her brows upon hearing his words, she looked at him in confusion, "Mommy will never leave you. I will never send you to the orphanage. Who told you this?"

"U-Uncle Sinian." He sniffled, "U-Uncle Sinian said that -that- that momma doesn't love Mello, that's why... that's why momma named Mello... Gua!" He cried out loud once again. There were some people around the corner of the hall who would sneak a glance at their direction because of the child's cries although no one dared to stare at them for too long when they saw the man that was in front of Xia Meilin and Little Melon.

The man who brought Little Melon was quietly watching the two at the side.

Xia Meilin was filled with rage when she heard what Little Melon said but it didn't show on her face, she tried her best to stay as calm as possible since she didn't want to worry her son.

She gently wiped Little Melon's cheeks with her thumb. "Don't cry, don't cry. What he said was a lie. I love you so much, okay? Besides, I named you Gua because of my love for melons! Melon is one of my favorite fruit, that's why I named you after it. Xiao Gua is my favorite and the one I love the most."

Little Melon finally stopped crying as he looked at her with his red and puffy eyes. "R-Really? Momma's saying the truth?"

Xia Meilin's eyes softened. Little Melon brought to light and happiness into her life, who wouldn't love an adorable boy who brought joy to her? She gave him a loving smile, "Yes, it's the truth. I will never lie to you." She leaned toward him and placed a soft peck on his lips.

A smile finally appeared on his face, "Mello still prefers Mello, is it okay?"

She nodded, chuckling at it. "Mm! Of course, it's okay~ Mello is still from a melon."

"Mello loves momma a lot." He buried his face on the crook of her neck.

"I love you too." She gently patted his back. It hurt her to see her son cried earlier. How dare her brother do that? Even if Xia Sinian was her brother, she would not forgive him so easily for hurting her son's feelings!

Xia Meilin suddenly remembered the man who brought Little Melon back which made her raise her head to look at him.

"Thank yo-" she paused as soon as she saw the man. Her eyes went wide in surprise.

The tall and handsome man was wearing a black retro suit and his features were the same as Little Melon, except for his dark black eyes.

"Y-You..You're... L-Lu Yifeng...?"
