Chương 4: Eliane
"David." He shushed me. Practically pushed me behind him so I could be out of their view. As they came closer, I'm sure they could see me pretty well. The three towered over me. They towered over David. I'd say they were around 6'5 and probably about around 200 pounds. I put my focus on David's back once the three were standing right in front of us.
"Hello David." One of them said. I closed my eyes, imagining that I was at the beach with my toes in the sand.
"What do you want?" David's voice was cold. It wasn't nothing like what he used with me.
"Oh don't be like that David." This voice was different from the first one. It was a little bit soft but still firm.
"Why hello there little one." A different one said and my eyes flung open. I turned my head to the right and I could see David's arm in front of me but the guy just looked at me with this weird smile.
It was very weird. Before I could get a word out, David was quick to answer for me.
"Don't speak to her." I looked around. Wondering if anyone was around.
"You're acting like we've never shared before Handsen." The first voice from earlier said.
"Well I'm not sharing this one." David said then after that, it was quiet. No one said anything.
I tuned out everything they said after that. Wanting to go home, this was too much for me, especially for one day. After a minute, the guys left, and it was just David and I.
He walked me to his car in silence. I was already formulating how to ask what I needed to ask, so I waited until we got into his car to bring it up.
"What did he mean about 'sharing'?" I looked over at David but he didn't say nothing. His face was straight.
"Nothing." I narrowed my eyes at him. Knowing he's lying but I don't want to start nothing. I told him the address to my house and then we were on our way. I had so much to say. But why didn't I say it?
Why didn't I consistently hold back with people?
"Are you hungry? Do you want to stop and get some food?" I said yes. My voice coming out as a whisper. Truth be told, I didn't want to say anything. But I'm hungry and I'm not going to pass up on the offer of food.
"Alright. We can get some tacos. It's right on the way towards your house." Nodding my head, I looked out the window. Nothing was said after that.
Chris Brown was playing on the radio and I found myself thinking back on the days when my mom would drive me to school and I'd play his songs from her phone. Those were good times. Times I miss.
As we pulled into the Taco Bell drive through, this black truck was behind us. It's windows were tinted and that made me even more interested.
"I want six soft tacos with mild sauce." David told my order to the lady and then gave his order. I kept looking at the truck behind us. I don't know why. It was just something about that truck that made it interesting.
