Chương 311: Chapter 311: Explosive Acting

With the help of the Marauder's Map, Albert easily located Isabelle's position. As expected, she was in the library working on her holiday homework.

Albert headed directly to the library to find her. Standing at the entrance, he looked around and finally spotted the red-haired girl in a corner, engaged in a battle with a paper.

He approached quietly and tapped the table twice, placing the envelope from Smith in front of her. Using a voice only the two of them could hear, he said, "A letter from Professor Smith, stay vigilant."

Albert's actions were subtle, but they still attracted curious glances from those around.

Isabelle glanced at the envelope, then looked up at Albert's departing figure. She silently pondered the meaning of his words.

"Could it be a love letter?" Isabelle's friend stared at the letter curiously and winked at her. "I heard Anderson is a genius."

"Yeah!"

Isabelle opened the letter, quickly read it, and then tucked it into her pocket, gathering her belongings.

Another girl joined them, her eyes burning with curiosity. She asked in a hushed voice, "Are you two really dating?"

"I remember you guys know each other, right?"

"And I often see you together."

"If he confesses to you, just accept him. I think you two are a good match."

"Nosy much." Isabelle picked up her backpack and told her two friends, "I've got something to do, so I'm leaving."

"If you're not interested, I might just confess to him, pursue him." The other girl joked.

However, Isabelle had already walked away, out of earshot of her banter.

"He's gone."

"I was serious, you know."

Isabelle didn't immediately head to the Dark Magic Defense Office. Instead, she went back to the Ravenclaw dormitory to put her backpack away before going to find Professor Smith.

Isabelle's situation was very similar to Albert's. As soon as she entered, she was controlled by Smith's Imperius Curse and handed over her wand without much resistance.

Albert suddenly felt frustrated. He had told her to be cautious, but he seemed to have followed in his own footsteps. Were his words in vain?

Or perhaps he should have been clearer earlier?

Smith looked at the two brilliant Hogwarts wizards in front of him with delight. The faint smile on his face made Albert inexplicably disgusted. He had an urge to punch that hypocritical old man in the face.

Such a deceitful old man.

"Alright, let's go into the Forbidden Forest to search for Gryffindor's secret treasure!" Rowenna Smith said, "You both go into the Forbidden Forest. Meet me at the outskirts, and make sure to avoid Hagrid and others."

After receiving the order, Albert and Isabelle headed toward the outskirts of the castle, entering the Forbidden Forest.

Albert didn't dare speak, afraid of revealing anything. He suspected that Smith, that bastard, might be using a Disillusionment Charm to follow them.

Honestly, he didn't believe Smith was after that damn Gryffindor's secret treasure. If he really was after it, there was no way he would use the Unforgivable Curse on them. Using the Unforgivable Curse on humans would be enough to land him in Azkaban for a lifetime.

Though this notion was somewhat exaggerated, considering Rowenna Smith had used the Imperius Curse on them, it would be enough to keep him in Azkaban for quite a few years.

As Albert was pondering this, they had already reached the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest. Hagrid wasn't in his hunting cabin, which saved them a lot of trouble.

As they waited for Rowenna Smith to arrive, Albert's gaze happened to meet Isabelle's. His expression immediately froze.

Isabelle's eyes remained clear, as if they were saying to him, "Help me?"

Huh, huh, huh!!

Albert blinked, feeling as if his thoughts were being read through her gaze.

"You weren't controlled by the Imperius Curse?"

Albert conveyed his curiosity through his thoughts.

"No."

Albert was rendered speechless. So everyone was an excellent actor, all dutifully playing their roles.

However, Rowenna Smith didn't give them the time to continue their meaningful gaze. Footsteps echoed from not far away, and he lifted the Disillusionment Charm, appearing out of thin air nearby. He beckoned the two to continue walking deeper into the Forbidden Forest, occasionally stopping to glance at the treasure map, following its instructions precisely.

Were they really going to search for Gryffindor's secret treasure?

Albert and Isabelle walked ahead in silence. Albert had lost track of how far they had gone, but they were indeed delving deeper into the forest, the surroundings becoming increasingly eerie.

Isabelle's body shook violently for a moment, feigning resistance against the Imperius Curse's control.

After a moment, she regained her composure, turned to look at Smith, and coldly asked, "What do you want?"

"Nothing much, just inviting you both to search for Gryffindor's secret treasure." Smith seemed to disregard Isabelle's resistance to the Imperius Curse, shifting his gaze to Albert. "You must have broken free from the Imperius Curse's control as well, right?"

"I'm just a little curious. What exactly do you want to achieve? Why did you use the Imperius Curse to control us?" Albert asked a series of questions driven by his doubts. "Even if you truly want to search for Gryffindor's secret treasure, there's no need to resort to such actions, is there?"

"Because he wants us dead," Isabelle scoffed, "What did you do to Katrina?"

"Don't worry, I've erased parts of her memory. I'll still be the respected Uncle Smith in her eyes," Smith's lips curled into a pleased smile. "When did you return to normal?"

"Just before we entered the Forbidden Forest," Albert answered without hesitation.

Professor Smith surveyed Albert up and down with curiosity and asked, "Why didn't you escape?"

"I figured you were watching us from behind!" Albert shook his head. "And I also want to know why you did this, what made you become so insane?"

"If you don't mind, we can chat as we walk." Rowenna Smith raised his wand, gesturing towards the two. "Don't try to resist. Without your wands, you have no chance."

"I want to know why you did this." Albert walked ahead silently and questioned, "I really can't fathom any reason that justifies your actions."

"There is a reason, of course. It disappoints me that you, someone so clever, can't figure it out!"

"Wilhelm Smith?"

"That's right." Smith admitted straightforwardly.

"Are you insane?" Albert couldn't comprehend it. The sick smile on Rowenna Smith's face made him feel disgusted.

"He is indeed insane!" Isabelle looked at Smith coldly. "He killed his best friend with his own hands for that elusive thing. Now he wants to kill his own daughter."

"No," Smith glared at Isabelle angrily, saying each word slowly, "Brel died in a laboratory accident."

"You used Legilimency on him, and you erased parts of his memory." Isabelle's tone dripped with icy indifference. "You killed him."

"How could you possibly know..."

"I am a skilled Legilimens, and I am also proficient in Occlumency, and naturally gifted at it. I got the answer from Uncle Mogue. They suspected my father's death was related to you. Although there was no evidence, I have it. You can't always remain cautious forever. I spent a lot of time finding the answers, and this time it has further confirmed my suspicions."

"An impressive deduction," Smith applauded with a smile. "It was indeed an accident. I felt like I had been eliminated, but I just wanted to learn about Wilhelm Smith's secrets. I invested so much effort and hard work for this. I wanted to ask them why I was eliminated."

"Isabelle's father was also eliminated, right?" Albert suddenly spoke.

"You're right. He knew nothing," Smith said. "I used a powerful Memory Charm on him. Unfortunately, he died due to an experiment failure a week later."

"It's because of that damn Memory Charm that caused harm to my father." Isabelle gritted her teeth. "It led to my father's death in a seemingly inexplicable accident during a magical experiment."

"So what?"

"What? Of course... I'll kill you." Isabelle drew a wand from her pocket and cast a spell at Smith.

Albert was stunned, but he quickly grasped the situation. He finally understood why Isabelle had endured until now – it was for this moment.

The Forbidden Forest was vast, and even if someone went missing without a trace, it would be difficult to find them. It was a suitable place for a grave.

Unfortunately, it seemed that all three of them had thought the same.
