Chương 1: It Starts

Ludwig, a young king, stood calmly at the balcony of his palace, taking in the sight of the greenery and the bustling city below. The fresh air was a welcome respite from the political tension inside the palace walls.

Suddenly, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed in the distance, growing louder with each passing moment.

Ludwig turned around to see his wife, Adalyn, rushing towards him, her face filled with panic. He could sense that something was wrong.

"Ludwig, we have to leave now!" Adalyn exclaimed, grabbing his arm and trying to pull him towards the door.

"What's going on?" Ludwig asked, trying to keep calm as his heart began to race. Unsure what to make of his panicking wife. They have not know each other for long. Their marriage was one of politics and not of love.

"My love, we must leave at once." Adalyn said urgently. "Your safety is in danger."

Ludwig's mind raced as he tried to process the news. He quickly put on his cloak and grabbed his sword. The sword was a magnificent weapon, passed down from generation to generation in his family.

Its blade was made of the finest steel and was crafted with the utmost care, giving it a sharp edge that could cut through almost anything. The hilt was intricately designed with gold and silver, and in the center was a large red gemstone that sparkled in the light.

After he sheathed his sword he turned to face her. "What do you mean?" he asked, his voice steady despite the chaos that threatened to erupt around them.

Adalyn took a deep breath, her eyes never leaving his. "There are those in the court who wish you harm," she said, her voice low and urgent. "I overheard them talking about a plan to betray you tonight. There was talk about assassins being stationed"

Ludwig's grip tightened on his sword hilt. He knew that the sword was more than just a weapon - it was a symbol of his power and authority as king. Legend had it that the sword was crafted by a famous blacksmith who had been commissioned by Ludwig's ancestors to create a weapon that would become a symbol of power and strength for their kingdom.

It was said that the sword had been used in many battles and had never once failed its wielder.

Ludwig had always treasured the sword, not just for its beauty but also for the power it represented. As he held it in his hand, he felt a sense of confidence wash over him. With this sword by his side, he knew he could face any danger that lay ahead.

With a sense of purpose, Ludwig unsheathed the sword and held it up to the light. The blade gleamed in the sunlight, a testament to its sharpness and strength. He knew that the sword was not just a tool of war, but a symbol of his family's legacy and his responsibility to protect his people.

Ludwig turned back to his wife, his resolve hardening. "We will leave at once," he said, his voice firm. "I will not let anyone harm our kingdom, or our people."

With that, Ludwig led Adalyn out of the room, his sword at the ready. They would face whatever danger lay ahead together, as king and queen.

"Who is behind this?" Ludwig asked, his voice tight with anger and disbelief.

"I don't know all the details, but some of your advisors are involved," Adalyn said. "Please, Ludwig, we have to go now."

Ludwig quickly made to preparing to defend himself if necessary. Adalyn goes the direction leading to a secret passage that led to the stables.

Ludwig followed Adalyn's lead, his mind racing as he tried to piece together what was happening.

As Ludwig and Adalyn made their way through the palace, Ludwig couldn't help but notice that there were no guards or servants around. It was unusual for the palace to be so quiet, especially at this time of day when there would usually be a flurry of activity.

"Something's not right," Ludwig whispered to Adalyn. "Why is it so quiet?"

As they made their way through the palace, he couldn't help but feel a sense of betrayal. How could some of his own advisors plot against him? They were all old friends of the late king, and people who would put down their life for the kingdom.

"Ludwig, this way," Adalyn whispered, leading him down a hidden staircase. As they descended, Ludwig's mind was racing. Who could be behind this betrayal? And why were there no guards around to stop them?

At the bottom of the stairs, they found themselves in a dimly lit hallway. Ludwig drew his sword, his senses on high alert. They moved quickly and quietly, making their way towards the stables.

"We have to be careful," Ludwig whispered to Adalyn as they entered the stables. "If they're already inside, they could be waiting for us."

Adalyn nodded, her eyes scanning the darkened stables for any signs of danger. Ludwig's heart raced as they made their way towards the secret exit that would lead them to safety. He couldn't believe that his own advisors would turn against him, but he knew that he couldn't let their treachery go unpunished.

But as they reached the end of the stables, Adalyn looked around nervously, but before she could say anything, they heard footsteps coming from the direction of the entrance of the stable. Ludwig unsheathed his sword and took a defensive stance, ready to face whoever was coming.

As the footsteps grew closer, Ludwig could make out the figure of one of his advisors, Sir Richard, who was panting and sweating profusely.

"My lord, thank goodness I found you," Sir Richard gasped, dropping to his knees. "There's been a plot to overthrow you. They're coming for you as we speak."

Ludwig's eyes narrowed as he took in Sir Richard's dishevelled appearance. He had always been suspicious of this particular advisor, but he had never had any concrete evidence of his treachery. Could it be possible that Sir Richard was involved in this plot?

"What do you mean 'they'?" Ludwig asked, keeping his sword pointed at the advisor.

Sir Richard swallowed nervously and approached Ludwig with a serious expression on his face.. "I don't know all the details, my lord, but there are others involved. Some of your most trusted advisors have turned against you. I was able to escape and warn you in time, but we must act quickly if we are to save your throne."

Ludwig's heart raced as he listened to Sir Richard's words. He knew that he couldn't afford to dismiss the two warning he has gotten, but he also couldn't act impulsively. He took a deep breath, trying to steady his nerves. "What is do you advise we do?" he asked.

Sir Richard hesitated for a moment before answering. "We should gather a small group of loyal soldiers and make our way to a secure location," he said. "We can assess the situation from there and decide on our next move."

Ludwig nodded, feeling a sense of relief that he wasn't alone in this.

As Sir Richard finished speaking, Ludwig noticed that Adalyn had grown increasingly nervous. She fidgeted with her hands and avoided making eye contact with him or Sir Richard. She kept glancing at him, her hands trembling slightly. It was unlike her to be so unsettled, and Ludwig couldn't help but wonder if there was something more to her reaction.

"Ludwig, we have to leave now, we can not stop here and wait for soldiers to come." Adalyn urged, her voice trembling. "Please, my love, trust me on this."

Ludwig looked at Adalyn, noticing the fear in her eyes. He knew he could trust her, he was the only family she had, but he couldn't help but wonder what she wasn't telling him. Regardless, he knew he had to act quickly if he was to save his throne and protect his people.

He looked back at Sir Richard, studying the advisor's face for any sign of deception. Sir Richard seemed genuinely worried, but Ludwig couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to the story than what he was being told.

He knew he could trust Sir Richard, who had always shown himself to have been a loyal and capable advisor. "Thank you, Sir Richard," he said. "Gather the soldiers and meet me in the courtyard. We'll leave as soon as we can."

Ludwig hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do. He wanted to believe Sir Richard, but he couldn't ignore the possibility that this was all a ruse to lure him into a trap.

"I want to hear everything you know about this betrayal. And Adalyn," he turned to his wife, "stay close to me. We don't know who we can trust."
