Chương 7: Trapped Souls (3)

<<Correct.>>

"Fuck! What the hell do you mean correct? What is correct?!"

<<You are an anchor to the soul essence of ****>>

What followed was two minutes of all the curses she knew before she could calm down enough to ask further questions.

"What is that muted stuff? Why can't I understand it? Also, more importantly, who the fuck are you?"

<<You do not have the authorization. I am ****. You can call me The Administrator.>>

The further they spoke, the more humane and amiable the voice sounded. It was almost as if it had forgotten how to speak and was slowly re-learning the process.

"So, what will happen to me?" She spoke after taking a long time to calm herself.

<<Your soul will be split and used to tether the essence clones of ****. You will then be sent to different dimensions to find suitable hosts. You will stay with the hosts until their death and what happens after that is up to The Beneficiary.>>

"Who is this beneficiary?"

<<A being who has met the conditions to activate ****>>

"I want to go back"

Although she sounded quite calm, despite the curses in between, she was actually on the edge of insanity. When had she ever faced such an unfavorable situation? Up until moments ago, she was a normal person dealing with normal problems. Then she deals with death and before she can wrap her inexistent head around it, she's given the chance of a lifetime, which then turns out to be a nightmare.

She was beginning to understand that her situation was not as positive as she expected and she wanted none of it. Similar situations were happening to the other 1,999,999 souls. No one wanted to be trapped and it sounded more or less that they had sold themselves to the devil or worse.

<<You cannot go back. Your existence is tied to ****. The contract is binding.>>

That was the statement that broke the dam.

All her anxiety, rage and unwillingness came forth. She resorted to name-calling, cursing, begging, trying to make deals and every other means she could to get out of the white space. She ran around but could never reach its boundary, much less find an exit.

Never before had she put her mind to the test like this moment. She thought of everything from this being a test to this being an illusion. She did everything she could think of and hoped to pull one over this unnamed entity. Unfortunately, it was all futile.

"How long will this contract be in effect?" She asked after going to great lengths to calm her raging mind.

<<For as long as **** exists.>>

That statement hit home despite the fact that she didn't understand the concept of immortality. She thought about asking how long this thing would exist but couldn't bring herself to. Perhaps she was afraid of hearing that it would last forever, but she rationalized it as that thing being incapable of knowing when it would die. Still, she didn't quite like knowing that her very existence lay in the hands of another. She was extremely unwilling, but all she could do was cry.

This was the first moment she experienced the feeling of powerlessness.

"Is it possible for me to cancel the contract?" She sounded lost and defeated.

<<No.>> Came the voice that crashed all her hopes.

"So my entire life will be spent as this soul container thing you talk about?" She was speaking more to herself than the administrator.

<<No.>> Came an unexpected answer.

"What do you mean by that?" Seeing a ray of hope, she couldn't help but cling to it.

<<Should you become The Controller, you would cease to be a Soul Container.>>

"What is the controller?" She asked hopefully.

<<You are not authorized.>>

Again, came a slew of curses.

"How do I become the controller?" She asked after calming down.

<<Fulfil the required conditions.>>

"I can figure that much out genius. I am asking what the conditions are?" She asked a little forcefully.

<<You are not authorized.>>

You could pretty much guess what she did at this point. I mean, who wouldn't be exasperated? It was talking to a log that could barely talk back. Despite hating it at the moment, such conversations would come to be cherished dearly in the future.

She was thinking of ways to ask about the conditions or how to gain authority when…

[Initialization complete]

The same message was projected to the other souls as well as The Doctor.
