"Alex isn't coming home?" Sophia asked with a yawn, her joints crunching as she stretched on the sofa.
Her gaze traveled to the clock sitting above the television and she was surprised to see how late it was.
Removing her head from Vanessa's thigh, she sat up and turned to her. "It's so late, Van. Don't you think we should call him? Alex hasn't stayed out this late before." And that was a fact.
The most Alex had ever stayed out was the time he spent with Vanessa in traffic on their way back from work. Alex staying out late was something that had never happened before, at least not since they moved in.
Each day was somewhat regimented. As a matter of fact this was the first time they returned home seperately. She had been quite surprised when earlier Vanessa returned on her own this evening. She had asked and Vanessa had told her why they had to return seperately, but why wasn't Alex back yet?
